Let's quit with all the things that the coaches could/should/would do.  If HJ is down this year, it will be mainly due to how large and good last year's senior class was.  Everyone in that area knew how good that group of kids would be and they proved it. Coach D did a heck of a job with them, but he decided to go home. So wish them luck and move on to this season

Headline #2: Cop kills unarmed white teenager.  No mention in the title that he was trying to run over the policemen with a car when shot.

Percentage of "quality" coaches stays consistent throughout the classifications.  As for volleyball, the Woodlands did the same thing in the highest classification two years ago when they only lost 2 or 3 sets all year.

I was told that he resigned and that he had already been hired.  The VAST majority of school districts will let you out of your contract anytime.  They do not want someone who has asked to leave.  I have seen this in 1A through 6A in my 23 years of teaching/coaching.  I do not know the particulars in this situation, but I am from Kountze and still hear talk from friends still there.

Who is the new coach that you are talking about? I was told earlier this week that Coach Haynes jumped ship and went to Westbrook.  Any truth to this?

No big deal. No punishment for illegal uni.  It is just noted in the game report.

No education experience or credentials. Not certified at all.  That is really going out on a limb. His dad was a great coach at VV a long time ago. Interesting to see how this works out. 4 board members served with him earlier when he was president.

agreed! I love aggressive play, but not dirty.  That was definitely dirty. Why stuff like that usually doesn't happen in baseball - fastball to the ribs!

The coach may be ok with it, but I would bet that the coach doesn't teach it.  Maybe from someone else.

The two offensive MVP's were from the smallest classification?? Way to represent the small schools.  I know a few coaches in the area are dumbfounded by this.  I have personally been told by some in the 5A ranks, that there is no good football below what is now 5A.

Any first half stats?  I am watching the Bayou Bowl on 13. Pretty good game for the West so far.  Our runningback from Hastings is on the west team.

It says on their roster that she is a Junior.
