A Winnie land owner (and others) sued the State of Texas after they built IH-10 a few feet higher in order to help contain storm flooding. Sure enough a hurricane hit and flooded the land. The storm improvements worked!!

Unfortunately the state sacrificed several people’s properties in using the interstate highway as a dam. 

Richard DeVillier tried to sue Texas under our laws and Constitution and the US Constitution under the Fifth Amendment “taking clause” (eminent domain).

After a favorable ruling in the federal district court on the right to sue Texas directly, the Fifth Circuit Court in New Orleans overturned that ruling and said that the DeVlier had no authority to sue Texas directly. 

On Tuesday a unanimous US Supreme Court ruled that DeVillier and others had the right to sue Texas directly under Texas law and under the Fifth Amendment of the US Constitution. The case is now sent back down to the lower court.

DeVillier and others have not won their lawsuits as the case has not been decided on its merits at a trial. He still has to go to prove his case.

What they did win was a unanimous Supreme Court agreeing that he has the right to bring Texas to trial for taking his property with just compensation. 
 

Surely we don’t know what will happen but the article implies that the investigation is based on criminal negligence and doesn’t even hint at terrorism.

He was probably there for a parent-teacher conference (maybe the only time the teacher was available) and brought his kids to get their side of the issues. 

Dershowitz is a liberal Democrat and I listen to some of his podcasts on youtube. He doesn’t even hide his beliefs but then discusses what he believes the law says and means.
It was maybe a couple of months ago when he was discussing a Second Amendment case in front of the Supreme Court or being considered by them for review. His statement was that had he been a Founding Father, he would have voted against the Second Amendment however he believed that as it was passed and intended to mean, it was clear that the amendment was meant to allow individuals to right to possess weapons and carry them.
That was just an example, where he might not like the law or a particular part of the Constitution, but will state his belief that, even though he does not like it, it is what it was intended to be. 
I don’t think that Dershowitz would ever vote for Trump but he knows a scam when he sees it.

Obviously, you are entitled to your opinion on teacher salaries. 
They are essentially contract/salaried workers. They ask for a fee to educate children. That fee is not dependent on hours or days.
Let’s say you contract a cabinet builder to refurbish your kitchen. He gives you a price, tells you that he will be finished in 10 days and you accept it for $20,000. The contractor finishes in only 7 days. Do you pay him only $14,000 or 70% if the agreed on price because he was able to complete the job in less time? 

Kids will be kids… form of trash talking is part of the game. Gotta control your anger. If you don’t want them to trash talk do your job and lock him down, complete those passes, catch the ball and get open and etc…. 
 
but this could have been way way worse situation…. Thank goodness it wasn’t. Parent attacking a kid. Straight clown behavior…. Wrong kid/ family getting attacked could have resulted in a shooting/stabbing or whatever. People today seem to be more trigger happy imo.

Location doesn’t matter. 
Take Mid and South County for example. In the last 5 years, PA has averaged 14.5 murders per 100,000 people. The 3 Mid-County cities with almost the same population as PA (56k-pa  v. 50k-mc) has 2.5 murders per 100,000 people. Adjusted for the slight population difference, it is 2.75.
So cities literally across the street from PA have  the same murder rate of about 3 per 100k people in MC to about 15 in PA.

This thread has obviously run its course. It was about passing an immigration law but has skewed off into attacks and comments that have nothing to do with the topic. 

You are probably correct… there are millions of Canadians pouring across the border in caravans but for some reason have gone unnoticed.
I hear that Detroit and Seattle now have a huge homeless population because of all the White Canadians streaming into this country.

If I was voting for a spiritual leader then none of them would get my vote.
From JFK’s well known flings to Clinton's Oval Office affair that he was compelled to address on national television, to one time front runner to be the president in Democrat Gary Hart and so on, the Republicans hardly have a monopoly on infidelity. Trump’s accusation as far as I know happened well before he became president however the two Democratic presidents that I mentioned happened in their term and in the White House.
I think I will look elsewhere for moral guidance other than the Democratic Party…. 🤣🤣🤣
