  5. I don't know where Lufkin lands this year, still got to play the games. Just to clarify, the Panthers are in the 2nd year under Coach Carl Abseck, all new system, a lot of young inexperienced talent starting the year, rebuilding situations don't happen overnight. Haven't read anyone from Lufkin knocking LP, at least I know and respect how good that program is right now. The main beef with Lufkin in this district is because no one wants to travel to Lufkin. I get it, we are not exactly next door, but we do have to go to Baytown twice this year so we make up for some of that. 🫢 Lufkin must travel wherever the UIL places them, North Mesquite, West Mesquite, Tyler, Longview, Forney, McKinney North, yes McKinney North, even College Station, AMC, Magnolia, Conroe, Atascocita, Waller, Willis, Klein, THW, THWCP, Kingwood Park, Kingwood, we were with West Brook back 10-12 years ago, and this is our third round with New Caney in a district, first time was on a grass field 2008, even an East Texas district in 2014-2015. We have played in more district scenarios than anyone in SETX can imagine, bouncing from 6A to 5A to 6A and back to 5A in the last 20 years, and the travel??? There's only two 5A DI schools in East Texas, Lufkin and Tyler so we both get bounced around. Sorry to be long winded but so many know nothing about how Lufkin ends up where they do in realignments. Hey, LP and PAM came in with all the hype and expectations in this district and it's playing out pretty much that way #1 and #2. They have proven they are the best two teams. Lufkin is just trying to find a playoff spot and see what happens. I think Goose Creek Memorial presents a good challenge for Lufkin, and a must win for both schools.
  6. Today
  7. It smells of a Republican trying to cause some outrage....... and it sure worked lol
  8. Stepp's scenario actually seems more likely.
  9. Start at the 34 minute mark. 😂🤣
  10. Lot's of finger pointing going on with this one.
  11. Incorrect. West Brook has a state championship in football. You guys would have been hated on by the teams in the district the UIL had originally put you in. You guys asked to be put in this district. No more a cult than the folks up in Smoaky land.
  12. Ever since the local officiating chapter dwindled in numbers. Several of the schools don't want to use the Houston Chapter like lot's of schools in this area have turned to.
  13. And this option isn't the greatest either. Heard thru the grapevine that the powers at be isn't too happy with this broadcast entitiy.
  14. I couldn’t say either way. I wouldn’t have taken Correa back anyway. Hated losing Bregman, but Paredes has done a fantastic job. I also would have kept Dubón, but that’s just me. Probably why I’m not in upper management. Lol Also, as a manager, all of my hitters have the green light on a 3-0 count.
  15. If any team is willing to trade for Walker that oganization will expect the Astros to pick up 50% if not more of his salary. Not sure he is movable. Heck, Correa may not be either.
  16. I think you should tap out sir. This is clearly going over some heads.
  17. Im aware.... I was pointing to school county population numbers. Personally.
  18. Not sure how you think it works but here are the actual numbers. Lumberton 1193 Huffman 1168 Vidor 1170 Livingston 1107 LCM 996 BC 892 Liberty 757
  19. Google search: Economists and political analysts generally do not consider the Trump administration's equity investments in private companies to be socialism, though critics and some conservatives characterize the actions as state capitalism, interventionism, or a form of "venture socialism". [1, 2, 3] Why It Is Not Traditionally Defined as Socialism Definition of Socialism: True socialism involves collective or government ownership and centralized control over the means of production, distribution, and pricing (as seen historically in state-run economies). [1, 2] Passive Stakes vs. Control: Administration officials, such as economic advisor Kevin Hassett, argue that acquiring minority shares or passive equity stakes (such as in Intel, MP Materials, or various CHIPS Act recipients) does not mean the government is running the companies or dictating day-to-day business operations. [1, 2, 3] National Security & Market Correction: Supporters—including pieces from the American Enterprise Institute—argue that taking strategic stakes or "golden shares" (such as with U.S. Steel) is a targeted intervention to protect critical supply chains and counter foreign market distortions, rather than replacing free-market capitalism. [1, 2, 3] Why Critics Call It Socialism or State Control Unprecedented Federal Ownership: The administration has expanded federal equity and quasi-equity holdings across dozens of private companies in sectors like tech, mining, and energy. [1, 2] Coercive Levers: Critics from both the left (such as commentators on MS NOW) and libertarian/conservative groups (such as the Cato Institute) argue that conditioning subsidies, permits, or government contracts on handing over equity or demanding leadership changes blurs the line between public and private sectors. [1, 2] State Capitalism: Many analysts classify the model as State Capitalism in America—a hybrid system where private enterprise remains intact, but the state actively picks winners, shapes capital allocation, and exerts political pressure on corporate boardrooms
  20. Thanks for the correction Coach!! 😂😂 Gold looks much better in my opinion
  21. District favorites by most before the season started regardless of who they lost.. Noone should have sympathy for them when every path they've chosen as leaders was looking for the easy way and currently still not working out for them. Bill parcels once said "you are what your record says you are"
  22. Our official colors are actually maroon and white guys.
  23. This game in particular, BU will need to run the ball a lot better than we have the last few weeks. We know we can throw it all over the field, but you need consistent running game to open up everything. And we also need our top receivers to NOT DROP PASSES. This is key because we need to be scoring points on 80% of our drives and hope we can somehow haul or disrupt at least 1 of their drives. I think this game will come down to a major stop late in the game. Their big RB will be a load, but I think BU has the defense to slow him down some. I just hope our kids realize how much of an opportunity out loss to WB was last Friday and how mandatory it is for us to sneak a win this Friday.
  24. Not even surrounding. Or even transfers. Look at the numbers to start. 4 or 5 to 1? to start with?
  25. I don't think anyone is saying it's a year-in, year-out advantage. Just the probability is a little higher for HH to get a better player from their surrounding schools than some of the schools around SETX.
  26. I guess I can see why people would think we would get a lot of move-ins from those surrounding areas and to be fair there are a few, but I can't imagine it's substantially more than the other schools in the district. Like all school in this district, we have our good years and our bad years. If we had this never ending pool of talent I don't we would have gone 3-7 and then 1-9 only to turn around and go 9-1 and 7-3 the next two years with the exact same coaching staff. Anyways I was just curious why everyone thought that when we clearly aren't lining up with a squad of athletes year end and year out.
  27. My statement was “based on the hype that was given pre season”. Shepherd was talked about and put in the contender discussion and not just by the community but by journalists that cover all of THSFB. Looking at them in that context, yes they’ve underachieved. Now that being said, I do agree with your statement 100%. I am a Shepherd grad and the teams from the past 2 years are hands down better than any team I saw in my 18 years there. There have been several players from various sports come from Shepherd and “make it”. Which is great for the community. Totally agree with your statement about the maroon and gold team as well, also happens to be the team I currently follow. They’ve underachieved year after year with basically the same demographic. To me, it doesn’t seem like sports has ever been a priority on the Prairie. It’s just something they do. That seems to be changing with this new AD and I think the future is brighter for the programs and a community that shows up.
