Ned would win by double digits now if you ask me. Raines was coming off an injury against BH and was not very sharp vs. Vidor. The offensive line has really come into it's own the past few weeks and the running game as well as Raines are getting better and better. The defense is also 100 percent healthy now and were missing 3 or 4 starters vs Vidor. I can't remember if Pryor played that night but I know Hopkins, Taylor, and Stampley didn't. Put your focus on Central, Png, and Livingston and earn a playoff spot. Worrying about what could have been 4 weeks ago is useless. Were you at the Vidor Nederland game? No i don't think you were so you honestly can't say much about that "L" in our district game. Anyone who was at that game knows full well that we gave Nederland the best game they have had this year and we gave them that game with our LEADING RUSHER at the time out of the game. Not taking anything away from Nederland. They did what they needed to do to win. But IMO they got lucky and if Nederland and Vidor met again it would be a different outcome.
Well if we are lucky, then we have been lucky all year, except for BH when I guess our luck ran out....but wait if our luck ran out at the BH game then wasn't Vidor the next week?
Did I say yall were lucky the whole season? KF89
running back was hurt, lucky pass play, nederland home field, bad punt all excuses to cover up vidor players not making plays to win the game.nederland had the same excuses till the last 2 minutes, but made the plays to win the game. If the Dogs had been deep in their end could they have driven down the field in the time left, I'm not sure. But when you give them the ball on the 40 they had a short field and that was not good for you guys.
Dawgnut...you hit the nail on the head, IMO this was the beginning of the end for the Pirates that night...I believe that a better punt would have totally changed the outcome of that game. Oh well, it is what it is! That was many moons ago. Pirates get ready to take it to those Jaguars! Is it Friday yet? ;)

Knoddy1
two cents you keep whinning about losing your RB causing Vidor to lose..right..well Nederland had two starters (2) suspended for the Vidor game and the PN-G game. We could make an argument that we could have won more easily with those two players there but that would not be fair to the rest of our team(team) the guys that replaced them played incredible games at a time when the (team) needed them. Besides the suspensions we have had our hands full with some key injuries too, that's all part of football. TradinUp BH
Vidor has turned into the Lumberton of 07. Remember that year, there was L-Train fans coming out of nowhere talking trash on the message board. One or two years going to the playoffs don't make you the beast of 20-4A, Nederland and PN-G, and sometimes Central own this district year in and year out. Say what you want to, but look at Lumberton now because Vidor will be the same in a year or two while Mid-County continues thier winning traditions!!!!!!! ;D ;)

When Nederland the past 4-5 years has been eaten up with injuries and what not, and still had success and scraped to get to the post season. It's great to see the district like this where you really don't know who's going to win every Friday. I think it's sad to see Lumberton fall the way they have since those two good years. GoDogs27
Lumberton will bounce back I think. Growing community over there. Nederlands success has always come from coaching and preparation, not blue chip athleticism. This year we have a lot of above average athletes added onto the great coaching staff and voila. It's not that I don't think we've been talented, but injuries can plague your season and really make it an uphill battle. Anyways, I think getting a good coach and hanging on to him is key. Neumann has a lifetime job as far as I'm concerned. On a side note, not sure why vidor fans on this board are so persnickety. You have a good season going and you will earn more respect if you let Friday nights do the talking about how great your team is. Just because YOU feel like the team isn't getting enough respect doesn't mean people should have to post something new every day about how awesome vidor is. Finish it now. Get to the playoffs and win a game or two. You want your defense to be compared to Nederlands? Ok well after you've played everybody in district (mainly PNG/LIV) then we will have a fair comparison. Goodluck to lumberton, vidor, and the rest of the district for this season and beyond. if you want a winning tradition, you have to start somewhere. One or two seasons of a winning record or playoff appearances don't get you there if things go back downhill shortly after.

Vidor has 3 tough games left, especially the last 2 with PNG & Livingston. Maybe unlike some other fans, I don't doubt that the Pirates have earned some respect for their 6-1 record so far. But I do think the end of the season is the time to take a look at the big picture. As far as tradition, it's all about stringing good seasons together and sustaining it. Every program will have a bump in the road as the talent level ebbs, key players graduate and coaches move on etc. The ability to overcome the bumps, rebuild and come back strong is the mark of a good program and that helps gain respect and builds tradition. I remember in the late 90's Nederland couldn't get the respect they should have , but after a few years they did. I also agree about the coaching and talent. We are finally seeing an advantage as far as coaching. There is no way I could say talent alone, look at the kids continuing to the next level. Most do not come from PNG or Nederland. Although Nederland does have some talent for the next few years which , along with their good coaching could mean a deep run. Believe me other coaches are taking Vidor seriously , they have respect. It's just hard to get from local media from just a couple good seasons.
