Don't worry.  A good day fishing heals all wounds. ;)

Even if it only lasts one day

I love (and believe) the saying, "A day fishing adds 30 days to your life time."  Actually, you can put any number you want in the saying. :D

  • 2 weeks later...
BS lawmakers/wardens:1/21/12 a friend of mine & I went fishing, put in @Anahuac park it was foggy/low tide and many boats were lost or stuck in recent dredging sludge so we went up the trinity river & into Long Island bayou @ the mouth of Trinity bay when the boat motor shuttered momentarily.I ask did we just hit something w/the pontoon boat/motor?We turned around to see a big drum floating on it's side w/a 4" gash in the vital area.I netted the badly wounded fish and put it in the cooler to take home and cook for my dogs/cats as it was full of worms.Got to the boat dock and got checked by 2 game wardens. The big ugly was 34" and I got a ticket for it,everything else in order. Are you kiddin me?I have a red drum tag and law says you can have 1 blk drum over 52" as part of a daily legal bag limit of 5.So if I targeted big uglies I could legally catch 1 every day=365 in a yr over 52"-reasoning so you might catch a state record.Well jp dismissed the ticket in Anahuac BUTT TPWD demands within 30 days I pay $190.79 to replace the resource. This is a 1st ticket of any kind for me in my life and I'm pissed bout right now.Ok they reduced the fine now to $152.64 and they said be glad it wasn't a wood duck over $200 and I said that'd be great least I would have something great to eat >:( >:( >:( ;D

Great haul. Thanks for the report. I've heard it's been inconsistant lately. The conditions seemed good while I worked in the yard today :'(

we fished for about 3 hours and had 2 barely keepers and the red.  we actually found some birds working, hard to believe this early in the year, went way past them and let the wind carry us to them, and caught 18 more trout in about an hour and 5 minutes.  most of those averaged 18-20.  i had a four-cast streak of 18", 20", 19", and 20", and i don't think i had to crank the bait 10 times in those 4 casts :)
