Kobe Bryant...Why???

Recommended Posts

I'll never dispute the fact that Kobe is arguably the best player in the NBA (even though I can't I don't like...he comes across as a an arrogan jerk) and one of the top 5-10 all around players of all time.

But why doesn't he ever get a techn??? I've seen him do things with his body motions, attitude, and gripping at the refs that deserves a tech at some point. Maybe not a one certain instance but you start putting these things together and it's basically showing the ref's up. I bet if he would have done what Shed did in Game 4 I believe it was...could have been Game 3...he would not have gotten a tech.

He's Kobe Byrant enough said!! I hate him I cant stand him. How many times did you see Jordan throw his hands up in the air crying to the refs when someone put a pinky finger on them? Its bullcrap if you ask me and I cant wait to see the Celtics celebrate on the Fakers home court!!

Aah, the good old days when a player even attempted to show up a ref, he got T'd immediately. And if he got T'd, he better not even look at the ref or he was ejected. That's the way it should be. Now they walk around with their arms around each other like they are bosom buds going out for a beer later.  ::)

I sometime wonder if they get a little pssst from the league office...hey don't t up the superstar...it might hurt his image, therefore hurting our revenues...or if he gets too many t's and has to sit out our ratings will be down.

Celtics better play much better Thursday...well I guess they can't really play worse

Whoa calm down there Nancy. I never brought up Jordan...but since you did...no i don't think he was an arrogant jerk. I'm not a Kobe fan...he is still one of the best players I have ever seen. The dude's awesome. My only question is...why doesn't he get tech's? Rasheed deserved his tech...it was showing up the ref's when you do that. But tell me...what's different than what he did and Kobe turning and saying something to the ref everytime he is stripped of the ball, drives and misses and no foul is called. Especially when you throw your hands at the ref like they don't know what they are talking about...if you didn't see any of these things...did you watch games 4 and 5? Serious question. The guys a great player but I don't see any difference in the things he has done throughout the series and what Rasheed did. In both cases, it's showing the ref's up and I think it deserves a tech...jmo.

Might I add that Derek Fisher is just as bad about Kobe about "acting" like he dosent foul anyone or complains about not gettting a call.

Correction:  Kobe TRULY believes that every missed shot of his is because somebody did something that is illegal.  Saw Rondo tip the ball from behind out of his hands twice as he went for a layup.  Both were 100% clean with no contact and Bryant screamed, cried and held up his hands as though he had been unfairly assaulted when he should have been sprinting back to other end of court.  For you to suggest that Kobe is not arrogant is less than enlightened.  I cant stand it when , against the Suns, after making a critical basket, he ran down the court holding his arms out as if flying.  Translation= I am wonderful, I am the greatest, and all of you should acknowledge it right now.  The best way to prove you are the best is just play your game and not draw attention to yourself with the cries and moans.

Im going to pretend Jordan never punched his teammate in the face or called another teammate a "flammer"

My point about asking if you watched the game was, Kobe DID get a technical.  Tony Allen yanked his arm and pulled Kobe back on the entry pass so he could steal the ball, ref didn't see it, Kobe exploded and got a tech.

I'm not saying Kobe doesn't get star treatment because he does, but he has his fair share of missed calls aswell.

Kobe Bryant has the index finger of an 83-year-old man,

We all remember Kobe Bryant's(notes) 6-24 shooting performance in Game 7 of this year's NBA finals. It wasn't a very good shooting performance, obviously, as he didn't make very many shots but continued to take shots. Basically, it was the very definition of a bad shooting performance, and I heard that Kobe Bryant's face will be added next to that phrase in a completely nonexistent dictionary of basketball terms. However, while Kobe's shooting wasn't so great, it's pretty easy to forget that he was playing with a severely injured right index finger, also known as the finger most important to shooting. When you remember that little factoid, making any shots with a completely retooled release is impressive. But that's Kobe Bryant for you — doing whatever he can to perform at a high level. As it turns out, that dedication might have cost Kobe a finger. No, it's not like he's going to lose it, but it's definitely going to be a pain in the hand for the next 50 years of his life. For Bryant, the sacrifice for success could well be visible for the rest of his career in the form of something that is not another championship ring to go around his finger. He might never play again without wearing support for his damaged right index finger. The middle knuckle on that critical finger on Bryant's shooting hand is so debilitated by arthritis after the past season of misuse and overuse that there may be no real way to fix it. Bryant will consult with specialists in July to figure out his options, but arthritis is not a problem that can just be cleaned up with arthroscopic surgery or wished away with a little rest.Yikes. The old broken finger that turns arthritic is never fun, especially in the two very similar fields of NBA basketball and blogging. We've lost a lot of good men out there, mostly from arthritic fingers.Seriously, though, playing through an injury is hard enough for anyone in any sport. But playing through an injury to your index finger on your shooting hand in a sport that requires constant use of that finger and hand? That's definitely not amoré, Dino. That's constant pain 82 times a season, plus the playoffs, for another five years, at least. Like I said before, yikes.

And you know it ;)
[/quote]

Its just odd that on the nights that he had 40+ and hits the game winner, there never seems to be an arthritic difficulty.  Some of the poor (make that very poor) decisions he made in that game means the arthritis has made its way to his brain as well.
