Tiger90
High Schooler Blows Away Rushing Record McCoy Scored 10 Touchdowns Friday Night AP Sports DELBARTON, W.Va. (Sept. 30) - Paul McCoy rushed for an apparent national high school-record 658 yards and scored 10 touchdowns Friday. McCoy, who had 29 carries in Matewan's 64-0 win over Burch, ran for 477 yards just on his touchdown runs, which covered 69, 1, 52, 56, 52, 20, 31, 84, 87 and 25 yards. He also had a 77-yard TD run called back by penalty. The National Federation of State High School Associations lists the national record as 619 yards, set by Ronney Jenkins of Oxnard, Calif., in 1995. McCoy's yardage will have to be verified before it becomes official. McCoy's 10 touchdowns would tie him with two others for the second most nationally. The record is 12 set by Ken Pearson of Hugo, Colo., in 1930. McCoy, who is averaging 364 yards per game, has 1,820 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns this season. 3ABirdMan
High Schooler Blows Away Rushing Record McCoy Scored 10 Touchdowns Friday Night AP Sports DELBARTON' date=' W.Va. Ok - Let's check the math...... 10 TD's X 6 points/TD = 60 points They only scored 64 total - That's 4 for 10 kicking PAT's, or 2 for 10 going for 2, or one 2-pointer and 2 kicks. Any way you look at it - THE REST OF THE TEAM SUX!
WVU Fan
I'm from WV, and those two teams a both 1A schools. Matewan is 1A power and Burch... isn't. This was like Throckmorton playing Sabine Pass. Each of those schools only have about 100-150 kids in them. There was probably no second team to put in, so I don't think it was "classless." By the way, Matewan was the WV side in the Hatfields and McCoy feud.

PNG Proud
Why would a coach leave his star running back in the game that long w/ the risk of getting him hurt?
vp93
I don't care how small and how few players there are, there has to be another running back. It doesn't show very good sportsmanship. He had 29 carries and all 10 of thier TDs? I think the coach should have done things different.
