They get a cheerleading grade and drill team grade as well.  To those who think I want this thread moved because I don't want it talked about is not correct.  I wanted it moved because it doesn't have anything to do with the WOS football TEAM.

And it is my opinion that if it were another school other than WOS, it would not have garnered as much talk.  Gabe said it himself that he wrote about a baseball game last year.  Where's the thread on that?

And it is my opinion that if it were another school other than WOS, it would not have garnered as much talk.

Your correct!!

you are very correct and I agree with  you 100 percent and I assume everyone else does also.  I dont think this has been even debated by anyone.  Even AAW will probably agree that this is probably true.  This does not seem to be the issue that alot of people are having a problem with.  Do you have any information or opinions on the actual topic here?  I am curious to what you think about this other than it wouldnt be such a big deal if it wasnt WOS.  I am having a hard time understanding how a program that seems to usually make all the right decisions is alllowing this to happen and it seems all the WOS faithful are playing it off as no big deal.

Not emotional, in fact I agree that the girls should play in the volleyball game.

But the bashing towards the school and the students goes to show that WOS is unliked.

i don't see the bashing your talking about.....not in this thread.  I read some not so positive post, but far from bashing.  Can you point out any statement that was negative or bashing....and that is not a true statement?

TD, Whats your take on this?  Your the most rational, level headed (except when someone pisses you off  ;D) straight talking wos person I know.  I would respect and might even listen to your post  ;D

td gave his opinion way back on something like 4 or 5. Or maybe it was 7 or 8. Definitely somewhere between 3 and 10... ::)

What is the reason for declining enrollment? Is it that bad over there? One thing is for sure, the "no comment" by the volleyball coach speaks volumes. Why do some people think west orange is getting bashed out of jealousy? What would they be jealous of? (I am not being rude, its just that i know very little about the situation over there, and i am looking for WO-S fans to give me some info)

What volumes does it speak? I take the "no comment" the exact opposite as most everyone on here.

Yea, but back then (around 4-5) we were talking about the volleyball team.  At 7 or 8 we were talking about transportation.......around 17 we started wos bashing..........come on man.......KEEP UP!   ;D   ;D

True Though that if it was another School you wouldn't see even a quarter of the pages this thread has. Unbelievable.

i don't agree. it is just shocking that a varsity team in any sport would forfeit a district game because some kids choose NOT to go to the game. that's the bottom line. y'all homers are just blinded by your emotions. if it were my team, i would be just as mad. it is a bad example for the kids.

Such as the posts saying that the girls should be kicked off the team.

These are high school students, like a someone said earlier sometimes they make wrong decisions.

IMO theres no need to talk about these girls. They made their decision (right or wrong in our eyes) and its over with.

I just dont think another school in the area would be talked about like this.

Have not seen any bashing.People just cant believe me included that they would forfeit a district game to go to a football game that there presence will not affect the outcome and then most of the wos faithful dont see the problem with it.Great programs are judged not only by what they do on the field but off of it as well. Hopefully this will be resolved before tomorrow

i don't see how the volleyball coach would be OK with losing a game this way. To me, the no comment was a way to not say something to throw someone under the bus.

PN-G threads get this much too.  Remember when they were picking a coach the threads were this big.  Don't flatter yourself.  8)

Amazing. Anyone who says that the size and general controversy contained in this thread has nothing to do with it happening at WO-S is being disingenuous at best. I have seen some stretched rationalizations here that could be analyzed for hours, but the silliest has to be remarks along the lines that these students should be punished for choosing one extra-curricular activity over another. Not one activity listed in this entire morass is vital to an education and they all count equally for phys ed. At that point, you all need to seal your pieholes. If this was the end of the football season bleeding over into basketball would you all be yapping about it? NO. It is not your place to decide what is more important to the individual student who signed up for more than one extra-curricular activity. I personally participated in 2 year round activities that clashed with each other regularly and although it thoroughly pissed off one of my coaches, i instructed them that one was going to win out over the other and that they could either deal with it and have my talents for most of the time or not at all. apparently some schools have dealt with this situation by forcing a choice between 2 potentially clashing activities. WO-S didnt do that. get over it.

there are at least 2 people in this thread that are here for no other reason than to jump on WO-S' neck at any opportunity. maybe some of you lack the introspection to realize it, but not all of you are blind. some are just liars. find something else to moan about.

Yes I agree that it is more then just on the field.

If it wasnt for the WOS football program and its success, most of the kids would end up in jail.

There is so much more to JUST football at WOS, and I think to most people it goes unoticed.

you need to teach the girls life lessons along with the boys imho. there is definitely a lesson to be learned here. i put more of the blame on the parents than the kids. they are kids after all.

Although I think I agree with what you said, those last 2 statements contradict each other. If there is so much more than football, why would you say without it the kids would end up in jail ?  ???

"Let's be real honest, Girl's athletics don't matter as much as boys sports."

To Whom does Girl Athletics not matter to.?  Tell us who these people are.

It matters greatly to the girls who work hard for the sport they choose to play.  It matters greatly to those who teach and train them for their sport. And it matters greatly to those who support and watch them play.

So when they sign up to play, they need the same disclipline that is expected of boys regarding committment.

What would Hooks do if one of his starters missed a game to sing the National anthem at a vollyball game?  As AD he should see that this is treated equally because he gets paid to direct all sports.

BTW--the VB coach should be docked or pro-rated for missing the VB game and I hope she buys a ticket to get into Brookshire instead of using a coaching pass.  Its the principle of the matter.

Although, I agree with what your saying about commitment, I don't think this had anything to do with VB coach.  Her no comment actually translates to "I cannot speak about this because I'm really pissed and  will lose my job for telling my real opinion".   ;D   ;D

Are you sure about this statement?

Nope.....but it will look pretty bad if the volleyball coach agreed to walk away........don't ya think??

20 pages into this thread it looks bad regardless if we find anything else out or not.  ;)

I agree that some of the kids would possibly be in trouble if it werent for the program but be careful to not say "most." There are just as many kids there that are there for the love of the sport and wouldnt get in trouble either way. WOS has got some really great kids!

That is the mentality that made those kids make a bad choice.

Not knowing the whole story, it's hard to point fingers. I think the VB game should be played. We don't know what Coach Kelly's thoughts are. I'm not real sure we know what Coach Hooks thoughts are. We do know what the girls thoughts are and the parents thoughts are (what was reported anyway). It could have been resolved had someone attended to this situation long ago. So basically unless I get more info, I'm going to sit right here on the fence and wish and think the VB game should be played.
