Just saw the local paper post that the rest of the varsity season has been canceled.

Called it.. although I thought the school would fold simultaneously. 

There's a lot of growth across the state.. but also a lot of dying areas.

I have confirmed thru my contact at The Vindicator that Hull-Daisetta has indeed canceled the rest of their season.

Most folks do not realize that H-D actually has 1A enrollment and they play 1A in every sport but football. They chose to opt up to 2A DII so they can continue to play 11 man football.

It's my understanding that H-D had very very low numbers to start the season and was just a few injuries and/or players quitting from being in jeopardy of not being able to finish the season.

Looks like that is the case.

I haven't received the exact reason but I'm pretty confident it's lack of numbers.

Sad to see these once proud towns slowly drying up and fading away.  Burkeville in the 80’s really had it going (football wise) and now seems to be teetering like HD…. But when industry leaves and there is nothing to replace it this is what happens…

Liberty has annexed most of Raywood.  Alot of those parents are sending there kids to Liberty.  I heard alot of the players quit.

Very sad.  Played many a game and coached many a game against the Bobcats.  They need to reconsider playing 6 man.  There are a few schools now in SETX that play and they could fill a schedule

Every single senior (all 6 of them) did quit. A few juniors as well.

Team is now mostly consisting of soph. and freshmen with a few juniors.

Canceling varsity season had to be done and I am glad they are trying to keep a JV season. Will help in keeping program going for next year.

Tough for them but also Makes it tough on teams that scheduled them.  Warren had them scheduled for homecoming next week,  now left  scrambling  for a homecoming opponent.

I question Warren scheduling H-D. They could do better.

Sabine Pass is open next week but that is basically the same as playing H-D.
