But very very poor basketball skills.

Agreed. Seem to be responding well to the new coach though. Hopefully he gets things turned around for them. They should be a powerhouse in our area for basketball.

Those guys have never been any kind of powerhouse in basketball. Never will be.

Based on pure athleticism they could be. Would love to see someone come in and change the culture.

Also think 10 years ago no one would have said OF had a chance to be any good at basketball.

I mean I believe there is a chance pretty much any school could be “good” one day… now saying a team could or will be a “Powerhouse” is a whole different story. When I think of teams that could be considered powerhouse teams at some point (Past or present) I think of United, West Brook, Silsbee, HJ, Kountze, EC just to name a few…

I'm going on 62 years of age. Been watching local basketball for over 50 years. Jasper has always, ALWAYS, had athleticism. But not very skilled wise in basketball. Athleticism alone does not make a good basketball.

Except for 2, maybe 3 seasons, they have always been pretty poor on the basketball front.

One of the main reasons it's been that way is that for the longest time, they did not have a youth basketball program up there. Up until recently, was just no interest.

Those kids entering middle school and high school just know street ball and nothing organized.

Jaden Scales crossed the 2,000 Point Mark tonight, and Whitmire being the class act he is, called an immediate timeout and allowed the boys to rally around their teammate in the moment! Can’t thank them and the folks that cane out in support enough! This teams all for one and one for all mentality, along with their depth is why they will go far this season! This Bobcat Team is no joke and this is going to be a real fun run!
