If we are not careful you will not be able to eat your dudes anymore.

You better see how fast you can delete that last statement .

I think coach Parks would be a good fit. He is a good man. But it will take several years to turn the program around. His wife is also at Newton.

Right name, wrong one! And you’re absolutely correct, it will take several years to turn that program around. The priority is getting the kids back. AGAIN, without a shadow of a doubt, he’s the one who can do it. I’ve seen it—kids would run through a wall if he asked them to for him. Win the kids first, then turn the program around. Without the Joe's, the X’s and O’s don’t matter.

But I would love to see them two coaching together! I can assure you wouldn't have very many discipline problem!

Interviews have NOT started, approximately 20 applicants, heard some aren't even football coaches.

Just 20 applicants for a HFC position is astonishing.

Not in rural SouthEast Texas.  This will be the norm.  Someone on Smoaky said Alto had 90+ applications for AD/HFC.  I would like to see the the actual list of applicants per a Public Information Request.  I am confident that the number would not approach 90.   The public needs to understand that not only will head coaches be hard to find, assistants will be even more difficult to find.  What Dad's and Mom's consider small East Texas town a good job doesn't mean qualified coaches are willing to come there.

Alto definitely had 90 + applicants.

Current Head Coaches was over 20.

Former Head Coaches was well over 20

Multiple Head Coaches with State Championships

Multiple Head Coaches with State Championships as Coordinators

Multiple Coordinators with State Championships as assistant coaches

Multiple 4A and above Coordinators

Alto is a GREAT JOB.

Hemphill, not so much.

Good luck Coach Byerly....  you're stepping into a MESS!!!  I hope the admin is as sick of HH losing as I am and does the right thing and gives you the keys to the car and lets you do your thing....................  never seen a place that the board members and Sup think they ALL know more about athletics than the AD than this place!

To be fair, the Board and Sup in 90% of small East Texas towns think they know more than the AD... 🤣
