  1. Not much less than the typical life expectancy of an AD in Hemphill......
  2. I remember this being in the news when it happened..... YIKES!!!
  3. That's him. Sorry for the misspelling.
  4. Not that I know of, but I hear that there are more than 40 applicants.
  5. Well, the board did in fact reassign him if that makes you feel better....
  6. Agree.. but I think Timpson will still be contenders for the district. They did lose a lot but they still have some remarkable young athletes. I do think Garrison wins the district but it won't be a cake walk due to Timpson and SA. I don't think next year's Hemphill team will be able to hang with any of these teams.
  7. Depends on what the district layout is. If they move into West Sabines spot in their current district then they will be in an overall tougher district.
  8. Yeah, that's what I thought also.
  9. I don't think so... pretty sure that ship has sailed.. but if they did and it is the coach that I think your talking about he is well beyond retirement age and would be unlikely to go for more than a few years. IMO that move just prolongs the never ending carousel of changing ADs in Hemphill. They reassigned a guy that had staying power and a winning record on the hopes of bringing in a AD that has been retired for more than 10 years. Great guy and a once great coach but we all know how much things have changed over the past 10 years. Kids, parents, admin, and boards are much different. Plus he is the winningest HFC in the history of HISD. He is not going to have that kind of success this go around. It's nowhere near the same kind of kids, athletes, admin, or community. I'd hate to see him come back and tarnish his past success at HISD for a few years of what I believe will be heartache. I don't believe it's a good move for him personally or professionally and I believe it's not the answer for HISD. Eventually, as a board and administration, you are going to have to try and find a young, yet proven, guy to come in and take the reigns and as a board and administration you need to hand him the keys to the car and unless he is violating some sort of policy or rule you let him run the athletics dept as he sees fit and he's gonna need more than the usual 2 to 3 years to establish the new program and culture.
  10. Whoa! Heard they reassigned the AD. They don't keep them long in Hemphill. Nice town, but a hard place to make roots as a coach!
  11. In their current district Hemphill can at least compete for 2nd through 4th every year.... Hemphill hasn't won a playoff game IN ANY SPORT (BOYS OR GIRLS) in like 15 years....... Too many "Chiefs" in town telling everybody "how to do it" and not supporting the program..... this is why there has been sooooooo many AD/HFC's in Hemphill over the past 20 years...... absolutely ZERO "Culture" in Hemphill... Too many Peewee football coaches that are also school board members that could teach Tom Landry a thing or two about coaching in Hemphill. LOL!!
  12. Was told again today by a Hemphill ISD employee in the know that they would be well below cutoff numbers to move down...... who knows, moving down isn't gonna help Hemphill though... may actually get stuck in a tougher overall district. There may not be a Newton caliber team but they may get stuck in a district with Timpson, Garrison, Joaquin, San Augustine, and Shelbyville..... Hemphill can't play with Timpson or Garrison and SA and Joaquin are extremely young talented teams this year........
  13. I think Newtons numbers will keep them in 3A but Hemphill will more than likely move down. The number that I was given by an administrator at Hemphill was 249 and they stated that it was steadily decreasing.
  14. Well, evidently you didn't understand what I was questioning....... if Newton stays up and Hemphill moves down how will the affect district placement for Newton????? You already have New Waverly and Anderson Shiro in that district which are roughly 110 miles away from Newton..... come on guy I wasnt asking for any other reason other than district placement.... ppppfffftttt...
  15. Hemphill is currently under 250 so it looks like they will certainly move down. I'm terms of travel this will benefit Hemphill but I'm curious as to how it effects Newton.
  16. I understand that you have your opinion as do I. Big plays with some trickery cost Hemphill. Newton did not sustain long drives as I thought they would. Please don't let my comments and opinion offend you. I like Newton and will be supporting them through the playoffs..... I was just making a generalize comment relating to the fact that outside of the turnovers amd trick plays that this was a closer (closer being the key word) game than the score indicated. Newton is awesome, my comment wasn't directed at Newton. It was directed at Hemphill, it's players, and fans. I was attempting to be encouraging to those folks. I'd hate to see 1 defeat, to a superior team, deflate momentum and defuse enthusiasm....... sorry if you took that any other way.
  17. This was a closer game than the score indicated. Newton is definitely a powerhouse and should be favored to win the region, but I don't think Hemphill has anything to be ashamed of. Hemphill came close to scoring twice and Newton scored twice early in the game on flea flickers. Great job Newton, I promise you that ALL of the Hornets will be pulling for the Eagles every game throughout the playoffs. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY respects Newton more than Hemphills AD Tod Stark. Heck, his father in law is Coach Thompson. Good luck to the Eagles the rest of the season.
  18. This game is pretty much predetermined. I don't think it will be an easy game for either but Newton should win handily. What excites me is the fact that this district has been looked down on by our neighbors to the north year after year with Newton being the only team that they took seriously. This year may be different with Newton, Hemphill, and New Waverly. We all could go past the first round with Newton having a chance to win it all!!!!!!
  19. 2 mins left in the 4th 3rd string QB and RB in the game... 61-6 Hemphill
  20. Oh, damn............. Can you talk to the Eagles about toning it down just a bit next Friday????????
  21. 53-0 Hemphill End of 3rd 2nd team offense has been on the field the last few plays and will finish the game.
