50/50 game. Montgomery is dangerous. They really haven’t had any hiccups on offense, and no hiccups on defense since the Dayton game. They’re more than capable of beating PNG.

Numbers-wise, the Bears average about a td per game better than PNG, and PNG’s about 4 points better on defense. That’s a wash in my mind - These are two equal teams.

PNG’s going to need its best defensive performance since La Porte to contain Montgomery’s RB. And our play calling has to be smart. We can’t afford to waste drives trying to get long pass plays that take too long to develop. We wasted three drives against Nederland (one in the second half, two to start the third) - We were bailed out by Nederland’s mistakes.  Montgomery won’t make those mistakes. And the Montgomery pass rush is better than that of any team we’ve played (exception possibly for La Porte). We need to hold the ball, burn the clock, and play keep away. I want first downs, not tries for quick touchdowns (if quick TDs happen, fine, but we don’t need to call plays like we have to score right that second). Short, quick high-percentage passes. And delete whatever was that play that led to Nederland’s interception last night from the playbook. PNG can get this one — If our run defense is tough and we keep the ball moving, we can get another W.

I'm straying from the topic a bit, but wasn't the Nederland interception (after the PNG interception of the half back pass) just an underthrown ball after the QB scrambled out of the pocket?  The receiver didn't come back for it, but the defender did.  This is strictly from memory, I haven't seen a replay.  The pass shouldn't have been thrown perhaps, but who knows.

Anyway, I've watched a little of the Montgomery - Dayton game, and a little of the Mont. - West Fork game.  WF didn't appear to me to give hardly any effort against Mont.  Mont beat Dayton and lost to KW Park, and Dayton rolled KWP.  Laporte rolled over KWP as well.  IMO PNG should be able to take it to them. You never know of course, but I say if PNG keeps it going like they are then they will win by several TDs. The receivers caught most of the passes last night except a couple or three by one particular receiver, who I think is a great athlete and very capable, and that's why they continue to throw to him. If he ever gets it together then I think he'll be lights out.

You can’t bring up average scores per game and compare.  PNG would probably average a ton more points if the majority of their games weren’t over at Halftime. Playing 3rd and 4th string players on both sides.

Montgomery will keep it close for a bit but PNG will pull away in the second half for another double digit win.

PNG Defense will win, or lose this one.  Indian offense will get it's points,  The Defense needs it's best from everyone.   PNG takes the win.  Indian Coaches are tops!👍

I wasn’t comparing the teams to say one is better based on scoring averages.  Just saying both teams can score.  Neither has been held below 35 all year.  Montgomery also plays their backups.  In during the 3rd Qtr against Huntsville.  Montgomery is a pretty solid team.  Seems a little delulu to pick PNG by 28.

This Montgomery team is definitely dangerous. PNG will have to stay focused and attack on defense. Get a couple turnovers and keep the drives long and steady. Eat the clock.. The band is leaving at halftime so make them cry early.

I have PNG tested and winning -3.5

Need to win out to have a better route in post season. I think runner up faces SOC in second round

Indeed and maybe it's better to get them early? They have been cakewalking

I think this will be PNG most challenging game thus far. It won't be a route or a second half  lounge fest for PNG starters like some think. Best chance for the win will be through the air Montgomery has a very good run defense.  #1 the RB for Montgomery has ran through every defense in the district he will get his points- should be an awesome game.

They pass to #1 sometimes too.  I don't immediately recall seeing PNG throw a pass to a RB yet all season. They may have but I don't remember seeing it.

Prolly only on screens.

Yeah, they used to occasionally do a halfback pass when they had a halfback, and sometimes would throw to the RB coming out of the backfield with no screen.

Pretty sure LaPorte is a very solid team and we held them to 21 points on their turf.  They have one of the best RB in the state.  Klien Oak also has a very good RB in the state. PNG stop both those backs and we will stop Montgomery running game no doubt.  If Montgomery can’t pass, it will be a very long Halloween night  for them.

So what about the PNG running game? Coach Joseph is 48-6 in his 4th season and the offense hasn’t changed much at all in that time. #27 & #6 for PNG are as good of RB as anyone has in the district. Yes #1 for Montgomery is a very good player and he will be a handful for PNG to contain but I have watched every single game since Joseph has taken over and only a handful of teams have had a answer to slow down our running game. But you have to pick your poison with PNG this year because our passing game has improved drastically from last season which is needed when you play stronger teams and putting 8 to 9 defensive players in the box puts your defense in a very vulnerable situation playing man to man. I like the fact we throw deep even though we haven’t caught all of them this puts the defense in a bad situation if we do connect it’s 7 points and we have been behind a lot of defenders and either dropped balls right in our hands or the pass just be a little off target. But the fact of us doing that is a game changer for this season. This game will be a great game for both teams getting ready for the playoffs and I pray both teams come out of it injury free and let the best team win.

LaPorte was the biggest challenge this season and PN-G had their best game of the season with a big win.

A very talented Huntsville beat us for a half and then we took care of business in the second half.

Montgomery is probably the third strongest team we will have faced so far this year.   And the final score will reflect that.

PN-G 42 Montgomery 17.

Last year this was a 6 point game.   I still see this as a one score game either way.  Not sure why it’s now a PNG blowout. I guess we will see.

Much improved passing game for the Indians with the same great running game.  Much better Defense for the Indians.

Same Offense roughly for the Bears, maybe slightly better, and a worse Defense.  They lost all but 3 on D I believe?

I would love for this to be a PNG blowout.

But it’s pure arrogance to look at this Montgomery team and say we’re going to blow them out. Watch their film — Where’s the obvious weakness? Can we play with them? Yes. Can we beat them? Yes. Is the answer to both questions also “yes” for Montgomery? Yes.

Not one person has said anything about Montgomery stopping PNG offense. I think PNG body of work to this point has shown we can contain and slow down really good running teams . I don’t see any reason after watching all the games that Montgomery has played to show they can stop our Offense that will be the difference in the game is them not being able to slow us down . Blowout no unless turnovers happen but if both teams play well PNG should win this game by 2 scores
