1. PNG. 10 SPLENDORA. 0 HOLDEN LANE 5 INNING NO HITTER . 13 K IN GAME
 2. Not the start the defending State Champs were looking for. Got to clean up the. Errors and blocking balls behind the plate. Pitchers were off their game last nite no doubt throwing strikes but could have gotten out of several jams with a play made here and there. Good news is we was 0-2 last year to start the season. Hopefully the rain will not be as bad as expected and we can get some games in this weekend.
 3. Not sure what we can change other than personal on Def that is gonna make us any better. Let's face it we are extremely small on our front 7 compared to most schools left in the playoffs at this point we have very little team speed on Def as compaired to our Off so that creates issues and teams that spread us out and has a athletic QB gives us fits. I agree we ask alot of our corners at times to have to cover for 4 or more seconds because the opponents QB has all day to throw and that will get you beat. Not sure what Templin can do to offset so much adversity that we face each week. Blitzes that don't work give up big plays no pressure on the QB asking our CB and safeties to cover for 4 or more seconds doesn't work either . Glad I'm not a defensive coach in this game your damned if you do and damned if you don't. All we can ask is what our kids give us week in and week out 110 % effort and let the chips fall where they may. Clock management has to get better those are issues that can win a game like this . Not calling dead ball timeouts needs to be reevaluated as well losing to many time outs when the clock is stopped. And if we have the lead late in a game not snapping the ball with 15 or more seconds on the clock shortening the game to limit opportunities as well. Gonna be a great game no doubt . Go Indians
 4. No let's not take away from the schemes that have worked for the last 2 years with SHUG at QB I give all credit to coach for that along with SHUGS insane athletic ability to make things happen and how hard the kid runs . But the further we advance the better the coaching gets the more talented teams are gonna get and yes they see what we see on film and will scheme to stop it.
 5. I see a troubling trend starting in PNG OFF. Yes RIGGS and SHUG are our best weapons we need to get back to being more like the Patriots in the NFL spread the ball around to all positions making the Def have to balance their game plan instead of being able to double team Riggs and keying on SHUG on every play. Let's face it when Lane and Hebert are in the game and Lane is at running back it's a QB run every time to SHUG. Have to add new wrinkles off some of these sets or I'm afraid at the level of competition we are playing at now we are gonna struggle. Need to throw to the HB 4 to 5 times a game and the RB out of the backfield to make the Defense account for these positions . If they did it would free up plays for Riggs and Cameron and the other receivers. As far as our Def we had the best effort we have had in any game this past week . Honestly kids were hitting and wrapping up when we got there to make tackles. Unfortunately if we have a chance to win it's gonna more than likely be in a shootout . Defense give the OFF a chance make a couple of stops or create a turnover and I love our chances this week. Go Indians !!!!!@
 6. Looks like there will be 3 for sure maybe 4 new starters this week. 2 lineman out with injuries and 1 kid moved from Off to Def in the secondary for sure possibly 2 in the secondary will be replaced.
 7.
I don't think Walker "has" to play. PNG is stacked from what I hear. This kid is just good. Can play every position and is a jam-up pitcher. Probably could make just about anybody's varsity squad.
And PNG may have a 2nd Freshman on varsity his name is Blake Lane. I heard grades is what the coach is waiting for with him. But both young men are outstanding ball players for Freshman. PNG is loaded with quality JR, SOPH, and FRESHMAN this year on their varsity. Should be a fun team to watch.

6'1" and could go 200 lbs in a D1 weight program with legit 4.5 flat speed and a knack for making plays. Great hand eye, fights for the ball and usually wins, super route runner and blocks down field with the best of them. Not sure what folks are waiting on? If he ends up at Lamar...They got a steal!
Truthfully, if he ends up at Lamar I'll be a little bummed....We have "great" players year in year out in SETX...but IMO Nelson is very rare...even if he were a Bulldog or Pirate I'd still be telling my family out of state about this dude. I agree with badndn...a few lb's and he's Big12/SEC material....bold statement I know, but you just dont make some of those acrobatic catches he did without being special.
Lamar im seeing doesnt evaluate talent very well. They let players such as Brennen Doty , Gonzales from LCM, Lunsford the lineman from PNG and many many others just to name a few leave from this area without even recruiting them. My question is what lucky program will benefit from him playing for the next 4 years for them. Any word on who has shown interest in Jace. The young man has a huge upside to him. I have watched him play in every game in his high school career and havent seen anyone even when he is double teamed stop him yet. Faircloth in my opinion didnt throw to him enough.
The Dogs will come out the way they finished the Vidor game, ON FIRE......I don't look for PNG O to be on the field much, cause Nederland D is going to SHUT them DOWNNN....Game management is the key and Nederland will set the tone for this game.....Bulldogs win this 21-7.....
Well you must not have followed PNG much in the Faircloth era our lowest scoing game since he has been Head coach here is 20 points. No one in our district will keep PNG Offense to 7 pts. Now i will say this also we arent gonna keep anybody to 7 pts either this game will come down to who ever has the ball last will win. I look for a 41 to 38 type game.

There was no Freshman B game.
Final Nederland    34 PNG            16 Nederland starters were out at half, and the B teams played most of the second half.
Hats off to Nederlands "A" 9th Grade team yall are an extremely talented group of young men. But i would also like to say to the PNG kids keep playing hard this group is getting better by the week. Cant wait to see these 2 teams in the up coming years the future is bright for both teams.
 12.
I'm not too familiar with Nederland this year, I can just go off of what I see on here.  It should be good game, that goes back forth.  I think Nelson will be the x-factor in this game.  If Nederland can slow him down they will take this one, but if not, I'm going to say PNG wins.  PNG          31 Nederland 28
Good luck slowing down Nelson Livingston had their best player with a safety over the top and Nelson lit them up. KID IS A BALLER hope he goes to a college i can follow him at he is a special player.
 13.
I agree with PNGFan when he said  "The problem with our defense is we cannot contain the corners and our offense can't run on the corners. I love Bertrand, but he has no corner speed and if you cannot run the corners you cannot open the middle of the line. We have 2 running backs in Womack and Arvie who have corner speed and they stand on the side line all game long." My question to Coach Faircloth is "If Bertrand is not getting the job done (as in the game last night), why not give Arvie and Womack a chance"?  Bertrand was very good last year, but he had probably the best Offensive Line that PNG has ever had.  Those 5 guys were awesome and they played a major part in Bertrand's success last year.  Nicotre #70 (Left Tackle) -- the only remaining starter from that line is doing a terrific job this year.
The biggest problem isnt talent at PNG its getting the talent on the field. I know that Faircloth does not like the idea of playing kids both ways but when you dont have any size on the Defense what keeps happening is the missed tackles at the point of attack is 3 to 4 yards on the side of the defense is never gonna change. Our staff needs to look at playing some kids both ways at times to make stops when you have to have them to get the defense off the field. And the thought of getting Arvie and Wommack involved in our offense would help we need more speed on that side of the ball for sure. And man would putting Chase Romero at wide out with his speed along side Nelson would be a nightmare for defenses the rest of the way. I know our defensive line has had numerous injurys which plays a huge role on how effective you will be but we had 3 to 4 kids on the line against Livingston at times that doesnt even weigh 200 pounds and when you have the size kids that we have faced in our first 4 games on opposing o-lines have had your gonna have major trouble stopping the running game. Change is needed before we get ourselves in a posistion like last year. This is gonna be a very competitive district with anybody on any given Friday nite being able to beat anybody.
 14.
Tough loss last night, crosby had some good speed out there in there QB and running backs. Poor tackling by our defense and poor linebacker play is our downfall. We didn't really put any pressure on them in the backfield and 350 yards later it showed we need some more practice. Bothh teams played their hearts out but I think I would like to see that matchup again in the playoffs providing we both make it. I expected a lot of people got a rude awakening when they saw png's defense get shredded up last night.  People predicting that lopp sided score must have swallowed to much grape koolaid out there in that heat. We have a lot of things we need to improve on, thanks for Crosby exposes some weaknesses in our armour and bringing some of these people back to earth. I don't know what is in store for the indians but we do have room for improvement no doubt. Couldn't have asked for a more exciting game to watch especially in the fourth quarter, can't remeber the last time we ran back a kickoff, who would of thunk it? Ready for next weeks home game can't wait to see chapter 3!
First off does anybody realize we have a back that rushed for 2000 yards last year. I completely understand the QB Miller running in the Offense this year its an added weapon but our horse needs more touches period. 12 CARRIES LAST GAME AND 9 THE WEEK BEFORE ISNT GOING TO CUT IT. Anybody who knows football knows if you can run the ball you control the game period. But our problem is on the other side of the ball we are too small everywhere and our Defense got wore out the other nite and the result is arm tackling that results in missed tackles which in turns becomes huges plays. Our DC needs to take some blitz opprotunitys when we have the chance to, to get our Def off the field faster. I have been to both games and we havent blitzed 1 time nor do we even get in a goaline package inside the 10 yardline. I like the fact our staff tries not to play kids both ways but this year we dont have the size on defense and we may need to look at playing some lineman both ways and a couple of the skill posistion kids as well to help out the Def. This team has a chance to be special i just hope our staff makes the changes that is needed to get them there.
 15.
PNG          31 Texas City 28
I dont understand PNG Defensive philosify. First we never Blitz, we dont even get in a Goaline Defense when our opponent has the ball inside the 10 yardline about to score. Its plain old sit back and let the other team run the ball down your throat Defense. Our DC needs to be more aggressive take some chances and get our Defense off the field quicker in the up coming games. And can anyone explain why we didnt go for the 2 pt conversion when the score was 28 to 23 ?

Bennett and Lane are both good coaches, but have two totally different styles of coaching.
Kevin Lane went to Jasper to be Assistant Baseball Coach with longtime friend and former Coaches at Woodville together Shawn Mixon. It was time for a change for him good move for both coaches. Kirbyville will miss Lane in Football as well as Baseball. Wow what a staff the new Head coach at Jasper has assembled.

 19.
Id like to create a forum on what parents, coaches, outsiders, players, etc... to get their insight on the "pro's and con's" of select baseball. I have written some articles and will later post them, but would like to read and learn more insight from others "outside or within" the circle. There is a "HUGE" difference in Select Baseball between the younger ages, 8-12, up to 14, compared to that of 16-18yr olds, so there will be a different perspective Id imagine from many on this topic. Please state with your insight, what level of play you are basically referring to. Different areas that I can see worth discussing... The decline of importance of "Team" first which directly effects high school baseball programs The "select teams" not incorporating the high school coach with decision making of 'his' high school players playing select ball(pitch counts, positions to develop their player for the following season, not including the high school coach in the recruiting process with scouts-coaches... The "self-entitlement" players-parents seem to adhere to as each season of select comes and goes The "lack of knowledge and discipline" taught to the "select player" OR the advanced nature of development some programs provide. The "over use of pitchers" or overuse of catchers The "Select Schedule" format, whereby teams play 4,5, and at times 6 games in 2 or 3 days. The format-foundation with all quality prospect teams at one site, to make it easier for college recruiters to see many players perform at one site in a 3-4 day span... The quality of competition these players get to be challenged, exposed to each weekend The umpires who call 3,4, and as we have experienced, 6 games in one day back to back to back, creating complacency, not being in proper position on the field and subpar knowledge of the rules The 3 minutes in between innings where pitchers warm up and fielders take warm up ground balls in an hour a 40minute time limit game, leading to a total of 4inning baseball games, and 24-30 or more minutes waisted watching teams get out on the field after the 3rd out... The format where 11 or 12 kids get to bat reducing the startegic part of the "game within the game" taught and developed by coaches and players. The expenses of select tournament fees, hotel fees, drinks, gate fees, The price and fees needed to attend player "Showcases"(example Perfect Game" has increased its showcase charges to $599 in 2011) and many more issues and concerns I'll address later.... Thanks in advance, Chris Fackler
Where to start with this topic. First off kids in 2011 have huge advantages over kids from 10 to 12 years ago. They have every opprotunity to improve their skills, conditioning, and mental side of the game over kids from just a few years back with the personal trainers and schools such as Parrizi. I have kids that are 14,11 and 7 playing Baseball at the present time. My oldest 2 kids play select and my 11 year old plays Little League as well with the 7 yr old only playing Little League.  Little League in our area isnt what it used to be period. Most kids who are your best kids in Little league either quit and just play select or they do both which in most cases is a mistake. My boys both pitch and catch and if over used there would be no doubt coaches could do damage to their baseball careers. This is where "CHOICE" of who you decide to play for comes into play and what their concerns for your son as a player are. The word "TEAM" is only achieved on very few teams in most cases, but the Teams who do manage to have the Team mentallity are the ones who turn out the best. The main point of my post is mainly on the Select side of this post. I feel the select or the AA TEAMS should be taken out of the Select rankings of teams. 3 divisions makes for to many different levels of teams and Major teams from our area the closest tournaments they can  play is in the Houston or Lake charles areas which increases the cost. Second if you really want to improve your child the compitition level cant be below his skill level. It does him no good to go play against lesser compitition. I use Select to judge where my kids are on the big picture how they match up from kids from other areas of the state and around the country. I have had the chance to watch my oldest son play in Cooperstown , THE ELITE 32 Tournament in Orlando at Walt Disney and many other big tournament. And have got to see him play against the best kids his age AT THE MAJOR LEVEL and i feel great where he is at as a player in the big scheme of things. I have a brother who is a High School coach who is realizing how important it is for the younger kids to have quality Baseball knowledge taught at the younger ages. His teams in High School are now reaping the rewards from the kids who put in the hard work and the Professional Instructors who these kids go to to get better. Thanks to you Chris, and Sam Moore and Morgan Walker just to name a few of the men who have had a great impact teaching my kids this great game of Baseball they are the players they are today because of people like you who teach this great game. If there is one quality i can teach my kids is to respect this wonderful game and play it how it was meant to be played......... Jeff Lane
 20. Congrats to the 14 yr old Machine Baseball Team. This team has went 18-2 over its last 20 games and 23-8 overall. And has won 3 of its last 4 tournaments. This team is ranked #5 in Texas and #7 Nationally. Keep up the great work with these young men Coach Fackler. Jeff Lane
