Darth Texas Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago 50/50 game. Montgomery is dangerous. They really haven’t had any hiccups on offense, and no hiccups on defense since the Dayton game. They’re more than capable of beating PNG. Numbers-wise, the Bears average about a td per game better than PNG, and PNG’s about 4 points better on defense. That’s a wash in my mind - These are two equal teams. PNG’s going to need its best defensive performance since La Porte to contain Montgomery’s RB. And our play calling has to be smart. We can’t afford to waste drives trying to get long pass plays that take too long to develop. We wasted three drives against Nederland (one in the second half, two to start the third) - We were bailed out by Nederland’s mistakes. Montgomery won’t make those mistakes. And the Montgomery pass rush is better than that of any team we’ve played (exception possibly for La Porte). We need to hold the ball, burn the clock, and play keep away. I want first downs, not tries for quick touchdowns (if quick TDs happen, fine, but we don’t need to call plays like we have to score right that second). Short, quick high-percentage passes. And delete whatever was that play that led to Nederland’s interception last night from the playbook. PNG can get this one — If our run defense is tough and we keep the ball moving, we can get another W. NDNWarrior 1 Quote
navydawg31 Posted 21 hours ago Report Posted 21 hours ago Not having look at any games or anything but this gotta be one of the marquee games in the state…. I got PNG in this one. No score prediction. Quote

I'm straying from the topic a bit, but wasn't the Nederland interception (after the PNG interception of the half back pass) just an underthrown ball after the QB scrambled out of the pocket? The receiver didn't come back for it, but the defender did. This is strictly from memory, I haven't seen a replay. The pass shouldn't have been thrown perhaps, but who knows. Anyway, I've watched a little of the Montgomery - Dayton game, and a little of the Mont. - West Fork game. WF didn't appear to me to give hardly any effort against Mont. Mont beat Dayton and lost to KW Park, and Dayton rolled KWP. Laporte rolled over KWP as well. IMO PNG should be able to take it to them. You never know of course, but I say if PNG keeps it going like they are then they will win by several TDs. The receivers caught most of the passes last night except a couple or three by one particular receiver, who I think is a great athlete and very capable, and that's why they continue to throw to him. If he ever gets it together then I think he'll be lights out. NDNWarrior 1 Quote
Eazy Posted 20 hours ago Report Posted 20 hours ago Really does look like a 50-50 game. Both teams average over 40 points a game. Last years game was tight. I like Montgomery’s chances at home. Quote
cal81 Posted 20 hours ago Report Posted 20 hours ago This not a 50/50 game. Montgomery’s offense relies heavily on their running back #1. Their passing game is average. Their defense is adequate. They haven’t played a PNG caliber team yet. PN-G 35 Montgomery 17 1970, NDNWarrior, JBB99 and 2 others 4 1 Quote
Lamar1996 Posted 20 hours ago Report Posted 20 hours ago This will be another route. PNG will be to much for the Bears. Defense always wins and ours is relentless. 42-14 PNG! cal81 and 1970 2 Quote
CS. Posted 10 hours ago Report Posted 10 hours ago You can’t bring up average scores per game and compare. PNG would probably average a ton more points if the majority of their games weren’t over at Halftime. Playing 3rd and 4th string players on both sides. Montgomery will keep it close for a bit but PNG will pull away in the second half for another double digit win. JBB99, NDNWarrior and cal81 2 1 Quote
png9mon Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago PNG Defense will win, or lose this one. Indian offense will get it's points, The Defense needs it's best from everyone. PNG takes the win. Indian Coaches are tops!👍 Quote
Eazy Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago I wasn’t comparing the teams to say one is better based on scoring averages. Just saying both teams can score. Neither has been held below 35 all year. Montgomery also plays their backups. In during the 3rd Qtr against Huntsville. Montgomery is a pretty solid team. Seems a little delulu to pick PNG by 28. FrodoNDN Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Need to win out to have a better route in post season. I think runner up faces SOC in second round Quote
abPNUT Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago This Montgomery team is definitely dangerous. PNG will have to stay focused and attack on defense. Get a couple turnovers and keep the drives long and steady. Eat the clock.. The band is leaving at halftime so make them cry early. I have PNG tested and winning -3.5 Scalp 'Em Quote

jayhawk Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago I think this will be PNG most challenging game thus far. It won't be a route or a second half lounge fest for PNG starters like some think. Best chance for the win will be through the air Montgomery has a very good run defense. #1 the RB for Montgomery has ran through every defense in the district he will get his points- should be an awesome game. abPNUT 1 Quote

They pass to #1 sometimes too. I don't immediately recall seeing PNG throw a pass to a RB yet all season. They may have but I don't remember seeing it. Quote
