Running Clocks

What are your thoughts on running the clock when the game is out of hand?

Out of hand is when the losing coach request the clock to run.

it seems to me that the losing coach would already know beforehand that it would get out of hand and just forfeit. I'm not aware of anybody in college or pros that have the option of a running clock.
