I think its a case by case situation. Some teams have the athletes to run it just like the spread. I think the vidor folks are ready to see a different type offense, and you cant blame them. Them and Lumberton were in the top losing programs in the state. Quote

Vidor problems are not because of offensive scheme. Every offense works and doesn’t work. Would love to get a show of hands that believe Vidor has “spread type athletes”. Quote

Players, parents, supporters are not asking for an offense that throws 30+ times a game. They are asking for an offense that throws somewhere between 15-18 times a game... screens, slants, outs, etc. Right now the players are discouraged and unmotivated to play. They need and want excitement brought back within the program. Quote

But i do believe spread the defense out and give the kids some options. BBtater984 1 Quote

Two, maybe three wide set with a TE, two TE set, throw in motion... many variations that you can still be a run heavy team. Give the defense a little extra to plan for, think about. Tiger33 1 Quote

I agree, im not pro spread there is just alot other offenses out there than thr slot t. I mean local teams have seen that offense for the last 20 plus years. I wonder if they just give the same ole offense playbook out every year. Quote

You mean sheet of paper lol Vidor needs a change... ASAP. If not, the football program will not survive much longer. Kids, parents, and supporters are tired of the same old stuff year after year. Sure, with a new coach, Vidor will take its bumps and bruises, but look at what's going on with the current coach/s. Excitement needs to be brought in to rejuvenate the program. Quote
Cones19 Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Look, I don’t care if you call the Wing T, Slot T, or Mr. T! Just find some creativity and balance. BALANCE and creativity! The QB lead blocking in this offense has just about disappeared. The QB is the plus one in the running lane or gap. Without it, this O is useless. This O should’ve been phased out when the cut blocking was banned 5/6 years ago. And it’s not just the O, there’s so much that’s bad. It’s all three sides of the ball. Vidor just isn’t serious about winning football or at least looking the part of being competitive! HF played a circus of a game last week, they’ll be more in tune Friday and it won’t be pretty! I’d guess it’s 3/4 plus are run plays for PNG the last two years. You don’t have to go full Mike Leach. Just call plays that match the situation on the field, not some pre-existing stubborn commitment to “we do [blank] no matter what.” BBtater984 1 Quote

But nothing will happen unless people start voicing their displeasure. The superintendent, the school board, and the board of trustees who made this hire all need to hear from players, parents, and supporters. Darth Texas 1 Quote

Johnny Carson Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Slot T is not football. It does not translate to a college program and definitely not to the pros. I realize most of these athletes will not go to college or pro but this type of football it is hard to keep athletes interested. Slot T is the dinosaur in Texas football 3A or higher and the only thing it is good for is encouraging kids to go straight baseball or basketball. The coaches that coach it are not adaptable in most cases to. IMO I don't see why a kid would want to run right and left all the time knowing they are going to get pounded all game long. Quote
