Congrats guys great job. You would think a player making all state would have made 1st team all district?

It's not too hard to understand. All District selections are made by Coaches. Men who are professionals at evaluating a player's performance.

AP Sportswriter All State selections are made by a bunch of English major jock wannabees.  ;)

Congrats to Cody and Dravannti on this great accomplishment. Pretty sad that dravannti can make all state and not all district.  I don't understand how that could even happen...  I dunno 77 tackles sounds pretty good to me... How does that number of tackles compare to the all district DE's of 22-4a

This is funny.

I think its funny that these list are always loaded with the same schools, year after year.

Oh, congrats to the locals though, ya'll are deserving.

I will say the way the voting is done is a little messed up, name recognition and school reputation does play a vital role in how writers vote. I did not have a vote this year.

I am not using any player as an example but when a writer sees a nominee committed to a high profile college and sees other awards given to that player - it is easy to sway a vote just because of those two factors. Sad but true

I am happy for Cody and glad to see him get the recognition he deserves based on his PERFORMANCE this year.

I use to think it was a great honor to make all-state but for a second year in a row this award is somewhat of a joke.

Just like last year when Ben Wells made all-state and only played 2-3 games someone that is 5th best at his position in his district gets player of the year.  I think sometimes the voters make thier decision based on pre-season hype, size of the player and future potential.

I can't believe Dayton and Waller don't have a single player on the list.  The voters undoubtedly didn't see #19 for Waller play.

Nothing against Johnson, I think he is a great player, but there's no way this guy should be defensive player of the year. There are too many players out there who had better years. Johnson didn't even make 1st team all district. It's not a knock on Dravantti's abilty, I believe he'll go on to be a good college player, but you just can't deny others with tremendous year's those kind of accolades. I have lost all respect for the AP voters, they are clueless.

I'm pretty sure Mack Brown and his comittment to UT had something to do with the voting i'm sure, well you at least know where i'm going with that.  How is it absolutely possible that not one defensive player from Dayton made the team.  Mack must have not seen the video of Dugat or Powell running by Johnson scoring all of those touchdowns against him.  Dayton had one of the top five defenses in the state if not 1 or 2.  How is this possible?  This is disturbing and comical all at the same time.  Congrats to Hussey, wish I could say that to some other well deserving athletes.  Maybe I'll call Mack.

I just got off the phone with Hussey and he said to give a special thanks to ALL of his Offensive LINE and to EVERY MEMBER of the Lumberton Football program. He knows that these awards are usually based on TEAM performance. He said he had great teammates and friends that helped him to get to this position. He was excited about the honor, but insisted that it was a TEAM AWARD.....

there is NOOOOOOOOO possible way dravanti should've gotten all-state, let alone PLAYER OF THE YEAR! thats a joke. seriously. its flat out ridiculous. jonathon ward is twice as good at d-end as dravanti is. and anthony had over 100 tackles compared to dravanti's 77. it's a joke. but hussey deserves it for sure. good job!

Congrats to the 4A All State Team!! Hussey is an awesome running back and Johnson has a very bright future at the next level. But how can there not be any Broncos on the team.I'm not the biggest Bronco fan, But they had some very deserving players who should have made the team.As far as my Bulldogs. How can you leave off #19 Eddie Brown? This guy had a great year and is an excellent player. But alot of very good players get left off every year.  ???

I must inform all the DJ haters that as of the year 2007 Jealousy in the #1 killer in the world and it looks like a lot of you might fall victim just before the new year. You guys are saying that its just because his name is out there and hes commited to UT and this may be the case but he had to do something along the way to get recognized so stop hating. All you Dayton fans are saying how much of a joke all-state is and how its not much of an honor anymore but yet yall are crying about none of yalls players making it.

***BREAKING NEWS***

Its High School Football so take some Midol and get over it.

Hussey being on the list makes it a little more legitimate. Congrats Cody, I knew you were a hoss last year. Great job and we are proud for you.

Now as for you "YourDaddy".

How does a team make it to State Semi-Finals and not have at least 1 player on the list? I know there is really no sense in asking you that but what the heck. Nobody is a DJ hater, just becuase you don't think he was the best player doesn't mean you don't think he is good.

I agree. Jealousy has nothing to do with it. Look at Dayton's defense...they held this district to 21 points...not to mention their playoff run...surely someone was deserving to make the list. This is not taking anything away from DJ...congrats to him...I just think Dayton's defense deserved some recognition also.

Congratulations Cody!!  Good kid on and off the field. We're proud of you!!
