  1. Just heard Lumberton game against Dayton moved to tomorrow same time (Wednesday 3/12)
  2. : I am happy for Cody and glad to see him get the recognition he deserves based on his PERFORMANCE this year. I use to think it was a great honor to make all-state but for a second year in a row this award is somewhat of a joke. Just like last year when Ben Wells made all-state and only played 2-3 games someone that is 5th best at his position in his district gets player of the year. I think sometimes the voters make thier decision based on pre-season hype, size of the player and future potential. I can't believe Dayton and Waller don't have a single player on the list. The voters undoubtedly didn't see #19 for Waller play.
  3. Not to take anything away from Charles and Hussey but I have to throw Hemmings in the mix. Without him PNG is not co-district champs.
  4. I think we matchup better against Dayton than we did against Waller bacause our D played better all year against the spread. We struggled somewhat against good running teams like PNG and LCM. I wish we would have done our part to make the rematch happen. I know you guys are better now then when we played and you have a better season than our because you advanced farther than us in the playoffs but we are better now also and the HISTORY book says Lumberton 8 Dayton 7. You guys were just as confident, are more so, in week 4 but it didn't happen. Unfortunately, we'll never know who would have won the rematch. Best of luck next week. I think i'll be there to watch it!
  5. i don't know what game you guys went to last night because the Waller team i saw can play some ball. They didn't have to show all their cards because we couldn't stop thier QB. They are a talented team with BIG athletic players. Thier running back wasn't featured last night be he is good also. They only threw the ball 3 times and still amassed over 400 yards. This is going to be a great game with two very potent offenses. I'll give Dayton the edge because of there defense. I think they have given up only 6 touchdowns since district started and have out scored their opponents 386-45. Lumberton moved the ball against Waller but turned it over twice on downs inside the redzone during the first half. GOOD LUCK in the next round!
  6. Hey ST4life! How's basketball season going? Cause your tigers started about 3 weeks ago and we are still playing football.
  7. Two more valuable members of the Raider squad. My hats off to JB and BJ for solid play all year. Keep up the great work and execution on both sides of the ball.
  8. Where it says "FRIDAY FOOTBALL FRENZY" below the word VIDEO in the far right frame, click on PLAY!
  9. Houston's KPRC has a great helicopter shot of the screen pass from DeJohn to Hussey. Click on Play on Friday Night Frenzy on the right side of the page and be patient. After the commercial once the video starts rolling fastfoward to the 4:40 mark and enjoy. [Hidden Content]
  10. Congrats Wildcats! That was an impressive win. Hazelwood threw some great balls in the cold rainy weather. 3 of his 5 completions went for Td's of 50, 51 and 24 yards and another 50ish yarder that got to the 1. The little guy has a great supporting cast with Musgrove and the Rhodes brothers. I hope to see you guys playing for a few more weeks. Good luck #5 and gang!!!
  11. It should be a good game with two very talented defenses. With the speed of our D line and linbacker crew we can shutdown the option. Duvall, J. Ward, Hanna and crew simply play PHENOMINAL. Our safeties and cornerbacks proved against LM they can hang with the most talented receivers. That is primarily due to the fact that the QB was running for his life because our front 7 but these guys a good also. I think Lumberton's versatility on the offensive side of the ball makes the difference. We proved against two of the best defenses we faced (LM, PNG) that we can throw the ball if you slow down our running game. DeJohn, with his senior leadership and confidence in his players, seems to be at his best in big games. I think both he and Hussey continue with great performances. WE STILL NEED TO WORK ON OUR CLOCK MANAGEMENT SKILLS. We should have kicked that fieldgoal as time expired in the LM game. Coaching staff has done great all year except in this area.
  12. I heard last night the neutral site was originally going to be Pasedena or Deer Park but the stands weren't big enough to hold the Lumberton faithful. That says a lot for the support this team is getting and mighty thoughtful of the coaches to make sure the venue will support the fans. Let's pack the house Friday night.
  13. Ticket to get into Stallworth stadium: $6 Gas to get to and from Baytown: $30 Watching the Lumberton Raiders eliminate the defending state champion La Margue Cougars: PRICELESS Congratulations Raiders. You young men played a phenominal game tonight. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES. Keep up the hard work. You Raider fans are awesome. It's a blast being a part of the L-train. See you Friday night.
  14. Thanks Purple 4Ever for showing some respect to ole #7. He has done something no other QB is Lumberton's history has been able to do and that is lead them to the playoffs. He has been consistent all year and made plays when we needed it the most. You can't just look at total yards and say that is the winner. You must look at all aspects of the game. Charles is in a class by himself. He has more weapons then any team around. The young man deserves a ton of credit for Dayton's success on the offensive side of the ball. Bellows no doubt should be OFFENSIVE NEWCOMER of the year.
  15. Interesting Stats through 11 games: Points Avg Rush Avg Pass Total Offense: Scored Att Yards Att Comp Yards Yards Lumberton: 33 38 242 7 15 107 349 La Margue: 24 30 115 13 25 176 291 Points Defense Allowed Lumberton: 12 31 119 9 21 113 232 La Margue: 16 35 176 9 19 121 297 That's why we know we can play with La Margue. Lets tee it up!!!!
  16. I was at the LM vs EC game yesterday as well. It was poorly officiated like many of the games i've been to this year. Lumberton can play with LaMargue. They are good but so are we. Our defense is better then EC's and our offense is more versatile and we can throw the ball. LM certainly is not better than Dayton. The only area that LM is better is in the kicking game. Their kicker has the strongest leg i've seen in high school in many years. We can't afford to give up many big plays. We need to contain the QB Kerlegan and receiver Haynes (#7). They are 90% of LM's offense. #7 catches anything thrown his way. He's a stud! Kerlegan left the game with an ankle injury but don't think that will keep him out of the game. Even wounded he's a threat with his arm and legs. He's the first dual threat QB we've faced since Dayton. Look for Lumberton to shock LM by at least 10.
  17. The Lumberton Raiders have been recognized as the 4A Week 10 Army Strong Team of the Week. [Hidden Content] All this week's winners of the Army Strong Team of the Week award demonstrated last weekend the qualities exhibited within the Army – those include leadership, commitment to excellence and a desire to make a difference as a member of a team. Class 5A: DeSoto, which upset Top 10 and previously unbeaten Arlington Bowie, 24-23 Class 4A: Lumberton, which defeated Nederland, 33-7, to earn its first-ever playoff appearance Class 3A: Palacios, which defeated Yoakum 51-15 to end a 43-year playoff drought Class 2A: Merkel, which shut out Stanton, 7-0, to ensure its first playoff appearance since 2003 Class 1A: Beckville, which upset Top 25 Mount Enterprise, 25-22, to secure the final playoff spot in district Six-Man: Grady, which defeated fellow Top 10 Rankin in a 50-46 thriller Private Schools: Houston Lutheran North, which beat Houston Northland, 21-15, a year after losing 44-0
  18. Raider Defense: Smiley worries me a little because they are a good rushing team. PNG, LCM, and Vidor all moved the ball up and down the field on us with a power running game. I think our defense will have to make some big stops on 3rd down to keep them out of the endzone. They only throw the ball 5-7 times a game but have some trick plays up there sleeves. Raiders Offense: Expect power football with a few tosses mixed in to keep them honest. I expect our usual cast of characters including #3, #5, #7, #17, #24, #49, #88, etc..... to all make contributions on offense. We have more fire power then most teams and when you stop one area we are good at the other. We can win on the ground or in the air. I say Raiders make history again with their first playoff victory 38-17. Good Luck Raiders! "Turn it Loose"
  19. Yes! With a win they will play either Friday or Saturday following Thanksgiving against the winner of the La Marque vs El Campo game.
  20. Hey raideroldtimer! At 40, I am old enough to remember that but was unaware of it. I later saw it on a different thread. I am not from Lumberton nor do i live there now. My son lives there with his mom/stepdad and has been on varsity for 3 years. I do know the last two years they put a 50 spot on us and that WILL NOT happen again.
  21. the tickets will be on sale at the gate if it doesn't sale out. i hear it may. I had my son get me 25 tickets yesterday. I have family coming from as far away as Plano to see the game. I may have a few extra depending on who shows in my gang. I have to be there early because of senior night to proudly walk with my son. If i have any extra you are welcome to them. I'll email you my phone number so you can call me Friday to determine if i have any extra.
  22. I am quite sure the boys will be talking it up during the game but the fans and players will win or lose with grace. Credeur has taught the boys well and expects the same from the fans. Win or lose it has been a great season. If we win, we will be happy that we finally beat Nederland but the real celebration will be beacuse we make the playoffs, and it will be a celebration. If we lose, we will be disappointed but it will be one of those life lessons. Even with hard work, one doesn't always get what they want in life. A loss in this game will not be the worst thing these kids face in life. It's going to be rocking in Raider Stadium come 7:00 PM Friday!!!! I CAN'T WAIT! Good luck to both teams.
  23. I hunt near Roganville south of Jasper and it was not good. I was on the stand 11 hours over the weekend and only saw a spike. We had about 10 hunters on three different parcels of land and only 3 deer (small 8 point, spike, and doe) and 2 hogs were killed. Most didn't see anything all weekend. I hope the cool weather gets them moving. Good luck on your next outing!!!
  24. I don't think this will come into play but i heard 16 is the most points used for tie breaker. (+/- 16)
  25. Jacob Hanna for Lumberton has returned a few for TD's. He is my special teams player of the year for the Raiders. He punts for a 40-50 yard avg per game and is a great returner.
