  1. We are up for the challenge! I think this is a much more evenly matched game than last year. 8) If we can win the turnover battle or at least be even, not give up to many big plays and have decent success converting on third downs we will have a chance to win this game. This game does not make or break the season but it sure would be nice to start 1-0 and beat the defending champs. : You can't make it to the playoffs on moral victories. We want a "W". Raiders by 1 or more
  2. I'll take the Pirates in a close one. It's going to be a ground game slug fest. I think the Pirates win the turnover battle and take it 28-24. Good luck!
  3. Raiders 56-0. I hope we come out of cleveland without any injuries. I hear that hanna and another player are out with injuries from practice.
  4. Bryce has not had to do much this season because of our strong running game. In fact, he has only played the first half and first series of the third quarter in each of our two games. He has played VERY good during that period (11/15 235 4 Td's 0 Int's) and started the year with 2500+ yards passing in his career. Our passing game will compliment our running game very well. By the end of district he will be one of the leaders in passing yards, completion percentage and TD/Int ratio. One area he can improve is with his running. He WILL NOT lead in rushing yards for QB's. He is not a dual threat QB. He wants to make a play with his arm not his legs.
  5. yes! He is the starter in a backfield loaded with talent. Name Att Yds Yds/Att TD Cody Hussey 20 159 7.95 1 Anthony Beard 7 136 19.43 3 Jacob Hanna 6 131 21.83 3 Trent Bourg 17 77 4.53 0 Phillip Speight 6 42 7 0 Aaron Grillo 5 33 6.6 0
  6. Bryce DeJohn, QB for the Lumberton Raiders, and Aaron Hazelwood, QB for the Kirbyville Wildcats, are first cousins and very close friends. Add the older Hazelwood and this family is loaded with talent. Both have done a fine job thus far and hope to lead their teams to the playoffs. Comp Att Yards TD Int Avg/catch DeJohn 11 15 235 4 0 21.36 Hazelwood 12 21 203 2 0 16.9 I am sure there is a little competition between these two clowns ;D Great job boys! Keep it up!!!
  7. Hazelwood is going to have a big day. Liberty will try to stop those awesome backs and He and Musgrove will hookup for well over 100 yards.

  9. A friend of mine I work with went to high school at Euless Trinity. He told me they have a large population of Tongan families in that area. Tonga is an island near Samoa. They grow some big people from that part of the world. He said it is not uncommon to have several 300+ lb players on the roster. The hair is a culture thing for those guys as well.
  10. THANK GOODNESS!! We need every advantage we can get because every week the opponent is good!
  11. One week at time! Let us deal with Cleveland then we will discuss the Dayton game. It will be interesting to see how the Raiders respond to getting smashed in the mouth by the broncos. No team in 22-4a hits as hard as the broncos D.
  12. Yes to both of those questions! Lumberton is that good and our opponents thus far are both having down years. The biggest difference in the '06 Raiders and '07 Raiders is DEFENSE!!!! We knew we had a good offense coming into the season but defense was a big question. Here's a few interesting stats: Offense: avg 7.5 yards per carry avg 20 yards per catch QB has a 154 passer rating Defense Total Yards '06 '07 New Caney 230 71 BC 354 142 If we can continue to play good defense throughout district we will be where we need to be in weeks 9 and 10. For those of us that were at the games last year know that we were in every game in the 4th quarter with the exception of Dayton and Nederland. This team will win some of those close games. Good luck Raiders! Continue to improve and prepare for one of the toughest district schedules in the state. [glow=red,2,300]"TURN IT LOOSE"[/glow]
  13. That's a good one. It gave me a good chuckle. I just hope it's a good game and neither team has any significant injuries. Both teams have uphill battles when district starts and will be the underdogs in nearly every game.
  14. It's battery operated and by the end of the game you will think we use ENERGIZER. Our offense is going to keep going, and going, and going.........
  15. It's unfortunate that all three pre-district teams against Lumberton are not very strong. Two year ago when we scheduled these teams all were playoff teams.
  16. Raiders 49-7! Raider D will continue to play well and will give up less than 200 total yards. WAY too much offense for BC to handle. With one of the most accurate QB's around and a plethora of receivers the passing game should be unstoppable. In addition, our running game is awesome with several backs contributing to the workload. I wouldn't be surprised if Hussey and Beard each have 100+ yard night. Look for another big game rushing as we get a big lead and Credeur goes to the ground game.
  17. The defense was OUTSTANDING! Gave up 5 first downs and 71 total yards (35 passing and 36 rushing) all of which came late in the 4th quarter. At the end of 3 quarters i think NC had negative yards total offense. Coach C showed class by going to the ground game early in the 3rd quarter. Offense was sharp as well! We only through the ball 8 times and ended up with 445 total offensive yards (136 pass and 309 rush). Great start! Congrats Raiders!
  18. We'll be healthy and ready to play 4 quarters. This will be our toughest game in pre-district but should win easily. I predict Raiders 31-14. We're going to have a potent offensive this year and looks like our defense is going to be much improved. This is going to be a fun year.
  19. SilsbeeD - Don't get your panties in a knot just cause you got beat by Lumberton.
  20. That is the word. He was hobbled on the first play of scrimmage and hurt it more a few plays later. He came back in and played very well leading the team to 3 scores. I think the coaches will play it safe and keep him out for this weeks scrimmage. This will be a good scrimmage for both squads. It will be interesting to see how the Raiders defense handles the speed of Silsbee. They played VERY WELL against BH.
  21. OUCH! Lumberton's first team played bad across the board. I think lumberton had -6 yards after the first 5 offensive plays. On offense we didn't block, hit the receivers, or catch the ball when it made it to the receiver. On defense we STILL can't tackle and we had numerous blown coverages. The good news is we have 3-4 weeks until the first game. Kudo's to HF. They looked like they had practiced 2-3 weeks longer than the Raiders. BH should be an interesting match next week. We better improve or they will kill us!!!
  22. District stats for 2006 season EXCLUDING playoff games! comp/att % TD's INT's Yards yrd/game Bryce DeJohn 111/207 54% 15 12 1545 154.5 Cody Green 89/141 63% 15 9 1171 117.1 including playoffs Cody Green 105/171 61% 19 10 1429 119 Considering the talent Dayton has, Cody should have WAY better numbers than Bryce. Bryce had 3 3-interception games that really hurt. Some of those were tipped balls and some were poorly thrown passes. He's not as big and fast as Cody but the young man is a good leader, has a great arm and is my son GO RAIDERS!!
