I think this has become a rivalry game because in years past the loser of this game is usually in last place in district and who wants to be there. With an 8-2 record for Vidor it sounds like Lumberton has been the cellar dweller in most years. If either of these teams were in district 21-4a with crosby, huffman, BH, new caney, galena park, or CE King, they would probably make the playoffs. But, because 22-4a is so strong it is not very likely. I graduated with Coach Mathews so i want to wish he and the boys from Vidor good luck. This is going to be a very good game. Hopefully, my Raiders will get thier first district win in two years.

I'll take my Raiders in a close one! Coach C rights the ship and the boys respond well after the butt kicking we got from Dayton. Hopefully, the Pirates will have a let down after a huge emotional win. It will be a good game. Don't count the Raiders out based on the Dayton game.

All you bright fellas (matt, SETEXFan, WOS95) need to read my earlier post. I started out saying that the calls would not have changed the outcome of the game. All the penalties that you saw that were not called on Lumberton just confirms that the refs sucked. I AM NOT SAYING IT WOULD HAVE HAD ANY IMPACT ON THE GAME. Just stating a fact. WOS95, you are right, they were bigger, stronger, and faster! Maybe we will have something for them in the playoffs. :wink: Just thought i would give you guys a good laugh BEFORE YOU GET STARTED, that is a joke!@ ha ha!! LOL!! You know humor!!!

I will have to eat crow as well. I was talking some smack to brono 1! But, i have never said anything about winning district. I still feel my Raiders are a good team and will win some district games. I think in this district teams will beat each other up and a team with a 4-3 district record could get in the playoffs. Congrats to the Pirates on an awesome win over Nederland. It sounds like that one could be an instant classic. I wish i could have seen that 4th qtr.

Congrats to the Broncos. They were certianly better than i expected. :!: We had to play a near perfect game to be in this one and we obviously didn't do that. We gift wrapped 14 points in the first 1:30 and it went down hill from there. :cry: This is not an excuse because i think Dayton would have won with a perfectly called game by the refs BUT that had to be one of the worst officiated games i have ever seen. The first TD bounced off the turf before being snagged by the receiver. That play was shown on the High School Scoreboard on FSN and it clearly was not a TD. Two missed clips on a punt return for a TD, several missed illegal procedure calls on the running back, etc. At least they called the several blatant unsportsmanlike penalties on the broncos. :!: It is tough playing a very talented team AND a terrible officiating crew. :idea: Good Luck to the Broncos. With the Nederland lost I know think you guys will win district. Our Raiders will be back Friday night to fight another battle against Vidor. Our team and fans will be there ready for some action!!!

Football - Typical BC fan. :wink: I know, i am from there!!! You are right about the poor officiating. They missed several calls that would have gone Lumbertons way. Pass interference not called; offsides that caused a fumble not called, and others!! BC certainly has not always been a winning program. Back when i went to BCHS the Cardinals sucked at every sport except Baseball.

That's where you are wrong!! :!: We are going to be saying we "WON" even though we had two hurt players AND we will be saying we told you so! Nobody outside of Lumberton give us a chance but all of you are WRONG! :wink: If we lose it will be a close one and we will not be making execuses, at least not on this board! :roll:

We are not making execuses. Our top receiver didn't play this past Friday but did anybody hear anything about that? Darby (#44) received an injury to his spleen in the Cleveland game and may not return all season. What is amazing is that after 35 years of playing and following football i have never heard of a spleen injury. Then in two days i hear of two with Simms from the Bucs and Darby from the Raiders. We will certainly miss him and wish him and his family a speedy recovery.

Garza didn't play against Cleveland and is recovering from a foot injury he sustained in the BC game. I haven't heard about Darby's injury. He is probably the best defensive players we have and is a big part of why the Raiders have only allowed an avg of 211 yards per game. I hope he gets well soon. What's the injury?

VERY GOOD POST JMAY! One thing to keep in mind, this schedule was set before Credeur took over the head coaching job. Although, i did hear that he was involved in the making of the schedule. Another point! Both BC and Cleveland were 3A playoff teams last year and BC probably will be again this year. New Caney is a huge 4A school with 1800+ students. The Raiders will never have any respect until they earn it in district. That starts this Friday at 7:30 in Dayton.

You guys crack me up! :roll: Dayton is such a powerhouse. The got beat by a 3A team, all be it the best one in state. And YES, the stangs would beat the raiders also!!! You beat Nac 14-0 who has yet to score a point this season AND got beat by Friendswood. Last year i would say you guys would kick our butts, BUT NOT THIS YEAR!!

That was not a retraction! Just stating that i haven't seen you guys play and the stats may be because the Broncos have a good defense as opposed to having played two teams that can't pass the ball. And by the way, you lost one of those games against a team that can't pass the ball. I still think we are going to kick y'alls butt 8) I was just trying to be polite and wish you and your son good luck. i don't care if we win by 1 or by 20. I just want a "W" when we leave Dayton!

I'll go with Todd Dodge. The Dodge/Duhon combo was the best i have ever seen. And that was against the best 5A schools in the state.

What's the big deal about making a prediction. I think the Raiders are going to beat Dayton regardless of what happens against Cleveland, unless we have some injuries. This is a Lumberton vs Dayton thread so that is what i am talking about! Bronco-1, here are the stats for the QB's Dayton faced in the last two weeks: Nac QB 9/23/85yds/1int/0TD's. If he is D1 he will not be playing QB. Friendswood QB 7/21/105yds/1int. That is not a good passing game.

I am not impressed with Dayton based on the pre-district games. Statistically the defense has looked good giving up an avg of 126 rushing and 118 passing. I assure you Lumberton will have a much better passing game then Nac or Friendswood. The only way Dayton wins this game big is if we turn the ball over a lot or we give up a big play on special teams. I predict Dayton gets welcomed to the district by getting beat by the NEW Lumberton Raiders. 31-21

I can't wait until district play starts to hear what kind of excuses you guys come up with of why Lumberton won. NewIndian, your indians are going to be embarrassed when they leave Lumberton with "L" this year. We are not going to be undefeated and probably will not make the playoffs, but i predict we will be 4-3 in district and just miss the playoffs.

My hats off to two very talented football teams. You guys are dogging the defenses. Could it be that we saw two good offenses??? The Cards have more talent than i gave them credit for and Dishon is probably the best athelete in SE Texas. He is like Houdini when he has the ball. That guy is amazing! Barring any major injuries they will make the playoffs. The Raiders coaches called a great game and the boys, all of them, made plays when they needed to make them. For us to continue to be successful we must stop dropping balls, having penalties and putting the ball on the ground. Luckily for us our defense kept getting it back;) The Raiders certainly earned some RESPECT tonight. This will not be our biggest win of the year! Wait and see:)
