AggiesAreWe Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 Jay Buckner former AD/HC at Santa Fe (TX) was named as Warren's new AD/HC last night at the school board meeting. Quote
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 Hope he stays there awhile, for Warren's sake. Quote
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 Any info on him? Only thing I got was that he resigned at Santa Fe in early 2014. Quote
Pepper Brooks Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 I could not find a lot on him. I know he lead Santa Fe to the playoffs back in 2009. It was only the Indians 3rd time to reach the playoffs. Hopefully he can be successful for the Warriors and stick around for awhile. Quote
Guest Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 He has experience with no talent. Hopefully he will be able to whip Warren into a mediocre program. Quote
Uncle Si Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 Well I am tickled to death that they hired this guy!!!!!!!! It was a blessing for West Sabine! Quote
JeremyRoberts Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 We'll be just fine. Welcome aboard, coach. Quote
Guest Posted May 3, 2015 Report Posted May 3, 2015 Warren will be just fine. Just fine 0-10 to 3-7. Quote
Guest Posted May 3, 2015 Report Posted May 3, 2015 Warren will be just fine. Just fine 0-10 to 3-7. Ouch Quote
Tee Posted May 3, 2015 Report Posted May 3, 2015 Put a flag up! If he resigned in early 2014 why and what has he been doing the last 12 months? Nothing personal, but the Warren job has to be among the worst in the state. Maybe 1st time HC/AD for a youngster. Must be a brother-in-law deal. Think about it logically. Why would a established HC go from Sana Fe to Warren??????? Quote
fox Posted May 3, 2015 Report Posted May 3, 2015 did they throw a deer lease into his contract? Quote
Tee Posted May 3, 2015 Report Posted May 3, 2015 You are welcome, Why did he get out of coaching for a year? Just saying it is not the norm for a HC to leave coaching for admin AND come back to coaching to a job that probably doesn't pay too much, although I hear the HS Principal does real well for about 300 kids. Less than 1 grade level at Ned. HS. So they may pay great, I don't know. Quote
Tee Posted May 3, 2015 Report Posted May 3, 2015 Yes they may pay Admin great salaries and the HC/AD could make as much as the HS Principal by law. The classroom teacher pay is low. But the SB can add duties and stipends as they want to bump up salaries of those they want to. I am told the HS principal makes around 90,000 a yr. the PNG Ned Principals make about the same for 1,600 students to Warrwns 325 or so. It is beautiful up there Wildwood is nice their golf teams used to be really good 10 years ago. Fact is, the Football program has not been too good --ever Quote
Tee Posted May 3, 2015 Report Posted May 3, 2015 Thanks, That is all that matters. Appreciate your positive outlook. And yes if the customers are in with the SB and all are happy, it's all good! Have a great one and best of luck to your patrons and students. Mr. Buddy Garrity 1 Quote
JeremyRoberts Posted May 11, 2015 Report Posted May 11, 2015 Warren is going to be 5-5 imo Getting a lot of kids buying into this new system. Quote
FootballFanatic13 Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 The season could all depend on how much learning has to take place. We've been a tough team to play across the board just never had the fire power to rack up the points. Is Coach Buckner a heavy hitter like we have been in the past or is he going to try to spread us out and use some of the speed we have. IMO we need something to get over the hump! Quote
TomEvans Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 When someone is reassigned from their coaching position, that should say something about him. Good Luck. Quote
Tee Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 When someone is reassigned from their coaching position, that should say something about him. Good Luck. and could not get another coaching job for 2014/2015. enough said for me Quote
Tee Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 Warren does quite well paying its folks..Has strong academics...Great adminstrators and teachers...New schools and facilities.. Very few disciplinary problems...Has strong community support and is a great town to raise a family.... only about 50/60 kids in each grade with very little classes like a Ned. PNG, Kelly, etc... typical small town district - and that's fine -- but to say you will get a top notch education from Warren ISD is a stretch by the fact that they can't offer very many advance level classes such as French, Latin, Dual credit courses, Quote
Tee Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 LU will not take the dual credit even though the Admin would lead you to believe the common credit act will hold true YES I do go back to the Yates and Fountin, days. I happen to know lots about Warren. Are your dual credit courses "stacked" in reg courses? With 50/60 kids per grade how many can be in dual credit? How many dual credit courses are offered? Quote
whsalum Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 I have 3 boys that have graduated from Warren and went on to get college degrees. Two graduated Cum Laude from University of Texas and Sam Houston respectively and are currently working on their masters degrees. One is a teacher and the other a RN in a pediatric hospital in Ft Worth. I'll be the first to admit our football team is not a power house and I think the HC/AD choice was a hasty one but the quality of education the kids get is very good. Quote
chukslegacy Posted May 18, 2015 Report Posted May 18, 2015 I grew up in Warren, not really what I call a small town more like a road side park! LOL Honestly warren is a great place to raise kids and have a farm. But the education is far better than what we have seen at BISD. Warren has always and will continue to be a stepping stone for all coaches searching for the HC/AD job. Good Luck to the Warriors! Hello to class of 81 whsalum 1 Quote
