Either you're part of the solution or part of the problem. Not directed to anyone in particular, just responding to this Defense comment & had to Vent Ok Cam, I will speak from experience as an ex-college player, a skills trainer, a coach & spectator who knew when Rodney was a little league player that he would be special. He is a 3 year varsity player which gives him more experience than most of his teammates who were mainly jv players last year. No sophmore will be able to compare to him and his experience and not many in the district has his skillset. God gives the promise, we just have to go through the process. As for my sons, they are held to a high standard as well and will leave it all on the field as well, it's what we are made of. Now, any defense that has to defend constant turnovers will give up points! We are constantly defending a short field for our opponents and field position is very key to helping defend your goal. Our offense should run screens, swing passes, reverses and definetly improve on special teams. Lack of consistent offensive production in timely moments, kills a defense as well. I don't see our team catching punts or kicks consistently in practice or during pre-game. These are not excuses just reality. There is practice and then there is training. If you don't train properly, you practice wrong and become unprepared! As for MS & Little League Stars, it has to start somewhere and if you continue to work hard and train properly then you will probably have continued success. My 5 year old is next behind his brothers and is already one of those Little League Stars. Yours as well as mine have an advantage, they have us, and I believe that I am one of the best around setx, God has put it in me to develop and that's what I do. Quote
JRidge Posted October 6, 2014 Report Posted October 6, 2014 any defense who is given rest will make stops! Deputy20, a rested defense always has a better chance to stop an offense. I was blessed to be a LB and captain of a WB defense who gave up an average of 8 points a game. Our team lost only 2 H.S games as a group since the 8fh grade and those came our Sr. year. It's not to brag but I do know something about how to be successful in this game. Quote

Bigcam2903 Posted October 6, 2014 Report Posted October 6, 2014 I'm not a quote "Football Guy "but know more about the game than many I encounter. One thing I will say is I like results not excuses. The Bottom line is many of these kids don't have much fight. They were successful I MS & Pee Wee, but unfortunately that can't help you on Friday nights. When faced with adversity, many lay it down. We don't live by this Mentality, that's why any kid that's associated with me will be successful to some extent in whatever he/she strives to do. I don't allow excuses; PERIOD You can have the worst Coaching Staff or Team in the Country, but if you're a Baller, we should be able to see you shine in spite of. Too many give Coaches too much or too little credit, the bottom line is, can the kid produce when his # is called. As I've stated before, my Son has a Testimony to tell the World. In the face of adversity for 3 yrs, he has overcome. The story is still being written, sit back & watch God's work unfold. Our Goal is to get the Panthers to the playoffs, all he talks about is uplifting his Teammates & making some noise in the playoffs. He doesn't have time to focus on the negative because he has Goals & milestones he want he & his teammates to achieve. I hope this doesn't offend anyone, but we don't have time for excuses because that allows doubt to set in. Moving ahead 1 game at a time I'm so very Proud of the young man he has become. Proud Panther Dad Well said Cam, I'm not offended nor am I big on excuses, I am a reality guy though and believe that our offensive turnovers has helped our opponents with some of those 40 points. I understand what your son has delt with and the patience he has developed. He is an outstanding young man and player as well. Bear has delt with some unfair decisions as well and should have been on varsity his sophomore year but as a junior he is playing light's out at DE after being made to play DL at 175lbs. He would probably be a real good LB & RB if given the opportunity but hey, it is what it is. You are right about the quitting for some during adversity and some don't hit as you stated. I stay in the players ear about the mindset you have to have to become a winner, and the toughness they should have. Hopefully what our boys have can be contagious. Good luck to our Panthers the remainder of the season. AthleticSupporter - Jock 1 Quote
