ST413 Posted September 20, 2014 Report Posted September 20, 2014 That seems to be a pattern. I am very surprised Silsbee's O Line hasn't been better. It seems to be that teams with quick defensive lines give our offensive lines he!! We needed to be able to pound the ball some and that just wasn't going to happen. Quote
bobbymcgee Posted September 20, 2014 Report Posted September 20, 2014 I know the chain gang defense is solid but i find it hard to believe that there is not enough talent in Silsbee to muster up a point against WOS Quote
ST413 Posted September 20, 2014 Report Posted September 20, 2014 Plenty of talent. We had a run or two up the middle that gained a few yards. I would like to know how many more times we went inside or were supposed to go inside. It didn't seem like many. With the field conditions and the size of our line, it would seem like that would have been our best point of attack. But even if was somewhat effective you have to be able to mix it up and it just didn't look like we were going to be able to do much no matter what. You might want to think that maybe we should have put the more mobile Thomas at QB but this is the same defense that last year handled an explosive Tiger offense led by Pat Reed. This Mustang defense is just flat out good and fast. Quote

This Mustang defense is just flat out good and fast. When they are flying around out there, it's tough to find a weakness to attack. And there is nobody around here, and I mean NOBODY, who coaches defense like Cornel. He's been the best at that for many years now. Great coaching + great talent = tough to beat. Quote
ST413 Posted September 20, 2014 Report Posted September 20, 2014 And I think that stress on defense is a big key in WOS's success. Yes I know that's pretty obvious, but I have often felt that high school teams should put more of their emphasis and even more of their best players on defense and force the other team to score against their best. Yes you need a good qb and at least a solid receiver but emphasize the defense and limit the other teams points and you have a great chance of winning. TxHoops and col1324 2 Quote

ST413 Posted September 20, 2014 Report Posted September 20, 2014 Bedelmon you may be right, this might have been the year you would have been able to stand on your roof and yell all night because you finally beat Silsbee.....but wait you will just have to settle for those dreams of grandeur for at least the next two years. Keep squawking about your other big dream against WOS but before Oct. 31 you better go to the Dr. And get you some strong sleeping pills because you are probably going to have another one of those long sleepless nights like you had last year after those same Tigers you keep wanting to beat so bad let you get so close to that win that you could smell it then slammed the door right in your face! AggiesAreWe Posted September 20, 2014 Author Report Posted September 20, 2014 Heard on the radio the Silsbee punter was the Tiger player of the week. Player of the game and really had no other choice. ;) BTW, thanks for listening. :D Quote
AggiesAreWe Posted September 20, 2014 Author Report Posted September 20, 2014 Mustang Chain Gang defense just too much for the Tigers tonight. Silsbee secondary did not look to good either, giving up 5 TD passes. Kudos to WO-S on a well played game. Way too good for my Tigers. td 1 Quote
