didnt read all the post, but when he was at lincoln, the bees DOMINATED 20-4A (losing to wo-s only) he introduced an offense that was different that nobody in this area really seen before, the veer. first game he was booed(and it was a victory of newton that starred will gulley). by the time district came, calvin roberts was slinging it to ricky wilson and gorrer. teams did not not know how to prepare for lincoln. politics and favoritism took him away from the PAM job. he said he was not going to keep ANYBODY from TJ staff(mainly colbert) therefore he was passed on. he is proven IF he has talent. aldine and ball had NO talent. his true work was done at lincoln and central. welp we get him second game, so very beatable lol.

In all probability there will be spring football at Beaumont Ozen in early May. Baytown Lee was holding Suggs to his contract that expires in June. Rumor has it that he was forced to take vacation and sick leave to get over to Ozen. Two of PS3 left behind coaches will be leaving by choice. The defensive coordinator will be joining Toby and the Central Jaguars per folks in the know.

Not a bad move at all! Enjoy, I liked him personally, but Ozen will survive!

My son coached for him at Ball, said he was a great coach and will look for everyone to work hard and be on the same page.Said he believes in discipline and will stay long enough to get the program turned around. Good luck Ozen, sounds like you all made a good choice.

The

Failed miserably at Aldine Nimitz, when there was really no excuse for it.

I have met coach Suggs on various occasions, he is a good man.   But the game has moved on past him, not liking the hire.

The game does not "pass you by". You can either coach or you can't. The problem often times is not on the field, its what happens at home and around the table that keeps coaches from being successful.

The question remains will the kids of today buy into the old school methods and teachings of Suggs. Thin skinned players want cut the mustard in an old school smash mouth three yards and a cloud of dust style of play. O- Line will have to mature, develope and be at least 2 deep at each position. There lies a problem, will Ozen have the numbers run run run? Its obvious they have the offensive backs but tight ends and offensive linemen remain to be seen. Looking forward to spring training next week.

You do realize that o-linemen love to run block. Ozen, historically has pretty good size in the trenches. And they always have good RB's. 2 deep? Maybe, maybe not. I dont think that'll matter... I think it will work especially with Boys being an additional running threat. And if you load the box, with all the athletes out there, that playaction pass will do some damage.

Suggs should be able to develop the mentality and physical part that goes with running the ball. There are several kids that should have been playing last year but Magee did not let them play if they were not there for spring ball. Some of the kids had jobs or other personal situations going on at that time or simply wasn't interested but I believe in finding that diamond in the rough. Suggs defense will be solid and ball control from time to time will keep them rested. They will be able to air it out as they have good speed and a QB who can throw it well. Off-season work will be the key for these young men.

Ozen has talent at the running back position with about 6 kids that can allow them to keep everyone working hard for playing time and allowing diversity in the running game. Randle & Tyler should get the bulk of the touches as they are big time play makers. Receiving core has athletes but will have to prove themselves on the varsity level. All & all, Suggs is in a good situation and he knows that he has his work cut out but has nothing but talent on his campus. If he can win the kids over after all they've been through with the Nelson & Magee era, then those Panthers will show up and surprise their district.

I highly doubt he's successful with this offense, this offense basically cripples Ozen. Ozen is known for having athletes why limit the athletes with a running style like this. On top of that Ozen has never had an overly impressive O-Line in a long time, so what happens when the run isn't working? Boyd is not a pro style QB so why put him in a pro style system? IMO Ozen needs to run a true spread offense where it can use it's athletes.

OF, a run heavy offense complements a very good and physical defense.

BTW, Ozen has run the spread for almost a decade without longtermed sustained success...

No one has ever run a true spread offense Nelson was close...however his spread offense allowed Ozen to advance the furthest it ever has. But my question to you is Soulja what happens when a team is stuffing the run? A good passing game in high school is harden to stop than the run. Also a read option attack can be deadly if run right.
