  1. When I was young the almost weekly visit to Hi/Lo Auto parts with my Dad was always fun. My Dad would bring in a part, and the sales clerk would almost guess what it came off of. I remember bringing in bolts, belts and hoses and the clerk would walk in the back and try and match parts. As I look back, it was simply excellent customer service. The other benefit of going as a kid was to check out the Hot Rods that most of he employees drove to work or possibly worked on during their breaks,,,,,lol Now, The reason for my post. I have an old homemade boat trailer with older style leaf springs. Where they mount to the trailer requires a rubber bushing. It's a very simple bushing....All three auto parts stores had no clue what is was when I put it on the counter. Once I explained it was off a homemade trailer and what is was, one clerk looked me dead in the eyes and asked me for the model and year of my trailer....... So I guess I'm old enough to remember when people that worked in auto parts stores actually knew auto parts. If you are wondering why brick and mortar is a dying sales model, I found everything I needed online with free shipping, I just didn't want to wait the 2 days.......
  2. As TVC stated, I cannot think of a more horrible crime....... Yet, many, and I mean many, on twitter are demonizing Greg Abbott for calling the suspect an "illegal alien"..... SMH
  3. Posting is optional if you don't like the rules. We also allow general calls outs "libtards" and even "magtards".....you went directly to him......just chill with those type remarks and you will be fine......
  4. Why do you have to name call directly to members? Is it a personal issue or what?
  5. Why should he report something that is not required? Let alone never been a issue until now.
  6. I hear ya. Silsbee will still be about a 30 minute for me and 45 for the wife, but it's worth it to live on the creek.
  7. I sold my home in Lumberton last year and moved back to my childhood home in Port Arthur. The area I live has no apartments/a street over from "Groves" so the crime seems to be a non-issue. With that said, can't wait to build our house in Silsbee on the 3 acres we bought.
  8. Also, when politics causes Police officers to lose the "respect" or even "fear" factor they once had, it's dangerous and I think in some cities we are seeing the results.
  9. IMO it comes down to policies, politics and policing. Over the last 30 years. I moved from Port Arthur, to Port Neches to Lumberton and back to Port Arthur. Look at the crime statistics. 1. You will not get away with speeding in Lumberton (I have the tickets to prove it) 2. The same goes for Port Neches. It appears Port Arthur does not have the police presence these other cities have. They may not have the funding or maybe can't find recruits. All I know is I very seldom see a PA patrol car when I'm out and about. TVC?
  10. Perry just announced he would pardon if boRd approves….told them to expedite it.
  11. TVC, have you been following this? [Hidden Content]
  12. Biden cannot pardon State crimes.....
  13. My guess is disorderly conduct. If he is on a sidewalk (don't you need a permit to "assemble"?) and he may make an unsafe atmosphere by gathering a crowd near building entrances and roadway......but I honestly have no idea....
  14. I never had an accident or damaged a vehicle (I as pretty hard on brakes).....but I can see you upset over that....
  15. Ever heard of that happening? I remember police being pretty understanding at least when I was working. Looking back, I took some huge chances going through Crystal Beach headed to John Sealy. I remember getting one complaint from a highway patrol, called my boss.
  16. A couple things - I thought in PA at least ambulances could only go 10 mph over posted speed limit (not that we ever paid attention) Also, I remember there not being a "code 2" in Texas - meaning if you had lights you must have siren......was that true?
  17. If you wait until your that old, a life sentence ain't that long.......
  18. No, because resisting an unlawful arrest is still unlawful.
  19. One thing I do know, my battle will be fought in court. In my 57 years of life, one arrest for PI (in my early 20's, I was a passenger in a car who's driver was arrested for DUI, paid extra fine to have it taken off my record) and a few tickets, I have never had a bad experience with a police officer. I felt it was my job to give him no reason to harass me. As I get older, that gets a little harder....lol
  20. [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] This was about a lawyer being arrested for not giving a couple cell phones to detectives because even though warrant asked for electronic devices, the guy handed the phones to his attorney before the search warrant was served (like 10 minutes before inside the courthouse)
  21. I am batting ZERO I'm going to end up being one of those guys dragged out his car yelling "I KNOW MY RIGGHHHTSTSSS" LOL
  22. I hate this happened but it would have not had newar the publicity if she was not Gordan Baxter's daughter. About 13 years ago I met someone who lived on village creek. My first canoe trip I was sold. The last 13 years I have been canoeing, boating and exploring village creek. Gordan wrote a couple books about village creek and built a house on it. It's still there and someone has since purchased and added on. It's right on the water. Gordan also flew and wrote a few books about that. He was a very interesting man.
  23. I would say no. There was a case where Detectives were outside of a courthouse waiting for a subject to come out to serve him with a warrant to search his person and take all electronic devices. On camera a security guard witnessed the subject handed two phones to his attorney, who handed them to his assistant and she put them in her bag. The detectives wanted that phone and ended up arrenting both attorneys because they would not comply. It was ruled they did not have a search warrant that expanded to her bag. So, I would think no one can keep you out of your own home "waiting" for a search warrant.
  24. That what I would say if I was caught with drugs......
