1. ozensfinest, going by your definition of chokers, Ozen's basketball team have been chokers since Boutte left. When y'all play the "big boys" in basktball you've been the one's choking. Y'all haven't done a thing in your school's sport since Boutte left. By the way, who just won the YMBL tourney? Not OZEN! Why? You Choked!!
 2. The Yoemem will give Newton a game. The winner of that game wins State !!
 3. After watching all the highlight videos I could find on Navasota and seeing WOS play in person, I think it will come down to whether or not the WOS can control the clock and finish off drives. I think Navasota is going to see more team speed on defense than they have all year. WOS will have somebody on those bubble screens I saw and the WOS DL can flat out go. I do know Navasota better get to the Mustangs early because there is no one better than Coach T at making halftime adjustments and shutting a team down in the 2nd half. I think WOS gets at least 1 score from their defense and just enough offense to win. I say: WOS      - 28 Navasota- 21
 4. I thought Nederland's front 7 dominated PD's Big, slow OL and that was the difference in the game. I agree with the assessment that the QB kept the ball too much. However, the Bulldog defense did keep White bottled up most of the game. I also think the only two people in the stadium that didn't see triple 0s on the clock when PD snapped the ball for the game tying FG, were the Head Ref and the Back Judge. The two people that counted. The Back Judge especially, that is his main job, the timekeeper on the field. I think if the Bulldogs' defense plays like that again this week, they will advance.

You  must be on crack if you think someone will put 45 on the 'Stangs.
 6. All4one what I mean by behind the scenes were coaches' meetings. Bevil's problem at that time was same thing he had at Lamar. Beasley won at least 2 of the playoff games that year becuse he was the better athlete. The Huffman game and the Palestine games. Neither had an answer for him. Especially the Palestine game.

WOS had all those skill people, unfortunately they didn't have the line to go with them. Wimberley's line dominated that game. That and the fact WOS couldn't tackle their TB. The other factor in that game that wasn't mentioned, 4 turnovers by the 'Stangs resulted in 24 pts.! Two scooop and scores, a pick 6 and field goal off of another. Wimberley wins by...24. Coach T told me after the game that they could've till Christmas and still not tackled #32. When you get to the 3rd round and beyond it's not all about talent. Usually both teams will have talent. In the playoffs, turnovers decide most games and sometime the ball doesn't bounce your way.
If you was there in '05 then you know the kid wearing jersey number 4 should have been QB
I was there and #4 should NOT have been the QB that year. He was not better than Beasley! Beasley was THE leader of that team. #4 hadn't developed that yet. Yes he had a better arm than Beasley but, at the time Beasley had the intangables that #4 hadn't developed at that time. Unless you were part of that team, you didn't see the behind the scene stuff.

 9. From what I saw last night, the only team that challenge that defense will be Navasota in the regional finals. Cleveland was done when they got off the bus!
 10. Ryan Collins, RB Deweyville, 219 yards, 5TDs on 17 carries that helped the Pirates to their first district championship since 1983! For the year Ryan has 1693 yards rushing and 23 TDs in 9 games. 1200 of those yards coming in 5 district games!
 11. LaPorte and PAM 5 & 6? Y'all need to quit having a poll. Those two teams would beat any of the 4 teams in front of them by comfortable margins.
 12. I'll reserve predicting how far WOS will go in the playoffs till after the Silsbee game. If they shutout Silsbee or hold them to 7 points, then I say they have as good a shot at a title as any of the teams mentioned in the earlier posts. No way Coldspring has as good of team as they had last year without Gilbert. This year's scores reflect that. No way last year's team loses to LCM. I'll say whoever comes out of Region 3 this year gets the title.
 13. I'll say WOS wins this one 28-7. I don't think WOS will get the shoutout. The 'Stangs will get at least one score on defense or a return they always do in big games like this one. I haven't seen either team play however, my sources in Orange County tell me this Chain Gang defense is as good or better than the 2000 'Stangs' defense that took them to title game. That was a dang good defense. As long as they don't have a ton of turnovers, WOS will dominate Silsbee. Silbee hasn't seen anything close to this year's Chain Gang defense and in big games go with the better defense.
 14.
Extremely frustrating. I am not see anything to get excited about in the future with Lamar football.  improvement in 3 years.  >:( >:( No>:(
Exactly!!!  >:(  >:( >:(  >:(
 15. Four things contributed to the low turnout. First and foremost, The product. People are already tired of Lamar playing a decent team at home and getting hammered. Second, the wheather. Nobody wants to tailgate and watch a game in the rain! Third, the time change. Having games at 3 instead of 7 hurt. I was a season ticket holder last year and with all the Southland games at 3, I won't be able to attend any more home games this year. Fourth, having a home game televised. This goes along with the wheather. Why go to the stadium and sit in the rain when stay at home and watch it? All of these factors contributed to the low turnout. However, I believe the product is the main factor.
 16.
Is this game in Hd?
No, it's in standard definition.  ;D
 17. Until Lamar gets some decent linemen on BOTH sides of the ball they are going to be horrible. The OL gets not push and the DL gets pushed all over the field. Not good.

 19.
Title... You need to do a bit of research.... We are in our second year of football we made some big strides this offseason getting upgraded coaches....but the rest of our sports have been getting better every year. We were 3rd in the commisioners cup this year in the SLC and the WE WON the mens side of the commisioners cup.. We can compete in the SBC, WAC or CUSA. We had down years in volleyball, womens basketball, and baseball but we are just 1 yr past an NIT visist and 2 yrs from the NCAA's for the wbb team and 2 yrs out from a regional tournament in baseball. Our golf team is 1 of only 4 fcs schools in the national championship tournament this year and we were #3 in the country in golf just 3-4 yrs ago.... We are getting better all the time.... Get your facts right before coming on this board and spouting your Lamar hating nonsense!

I'm still tryin' to figure out why you all are so fired up about Lamar going FBS when the can't compete in the division they're in now? They may win 1 or 2 conference games in football. They did win the basketball tournament. However, they didn't make the baseball tournament and have been declining in baseball over the last 3 seasons. If the football team doesn't make some signifigant progress this year, you can flat out forget about FBS. Football will determine if and when Lamar goes to FBS.
Going FBS does not mean Lamar is joining the SEC. CUSA and SBC are currently a small step above the SLC. SHSU could rule the SBC with last years team. Lamar is building a program. I would rather Lamar build it at the FBS level. After January, Lamar will have 10 years to build a FCS. 10 years of playing Langston and MCmury.
First of all, I'm not a Lamar hater, I'm an alumnus. I'm also a realist. My point on the post was that Lamar was not ready to jump to the FBS, yet. And no, I'm talking about the SEC, Big 12, Big 10, ACC, or PAC 12. I know all about the minor sports LUFAN. I was focusing on the big 3 and more importantly, football. I say more importantly because, football success will get them into the Sun Belt, the WAC or the MWC. Having Pat Knight as basketball coach will help, too. Yes, Lamar has nice facilities. However, if Lamar moves to the next level, they will have to expand the football stadium. One they can't fill on a consistant basis now. If the football team improves and starts to win that'll change. As I said before, I'm not a hater. I just want Lamar to be successful if and when they make a move to a FBS conference.

This year all coaches have to go through a UIL concussion training course.   However, these former NFL players suing the league about concussions is BS!. You play a sport that basically requires you to bang your head against something repeatedly. What did they think was going to happen? I think the lawsuits will be settled out of court with the players getting better health benefits. Otherwise, the NFL will be sued out existence!
In the NFL or even college I think it is a more complex issue, and nothing can be proven one way or the other. If a player actually complained he was hurt and the "team" (coaches, trainers, doctors) all said nothing was wrong the player would have a gripe. Don't you think older guys that used to work in plants and refineries that have asbestosis or cancer directly linked to their profession have a gripe?
I would say yes the older guys that worked in the plants and refineries have a gripe. They dealt with stuff that was not found out to cause asbestosis or cancer until after years of use. Asbestosis being a prime example. However, in football you know that you will be banging your head into something as part of your job and you should have some expectation, that has to cause some damage. If you are lucky enough to make it to the NFL you will have played football 11-13 years by then, that's a lot of head banging! You put yourself in that position. I do think the NFL will end up providing health care to the former players. I think it'll be run like medicare and I think the players will have it untill they get on medicare.

 22. how do you get 5 wins? Lousiana-LaFayette-L Prarrie View A&M- Tossup Langston- W SE. Louisiana- Tossup Northwestern- L MuMurry- W Central Arkansas- L Sam Houston- L SFA- L Nichols- Tossup NcNeese- L They only play 2 teams that they should beat on the schedule. Everybody else is either a loss or a tossup. I'll 4-7.
