1. If Lamar doesn't make the tournament, is this the last weekend for Gillligan? He's 43-53 in conference the last three years. 12-18 so far this year. I like Coach Giligan gut it may be time to retire. I think Simmons will push him to do that. I don't think he would ever fire him.
 2. I didn't have to look it up. I was on the sideline too.
 3. WOS beat Central in 2005 28-12. WOS got a kickoff return and a fumble return for TDs in that game.

Is there an issue outside of football?
Sounds, to me, that there is an entitlement issue.  He feels he should be a QB, but rather than work to get better, he just runs away whenever he isn't made to be the man.  It's a common issue with kids who were the one shining diamond in their small towns.  All their life they are told how great they are, and they never have to work for anything. Then they get in a situation where they have to work and they run.  I understood the transfer from WV.  That is a big time school and I"m not sure anyone thought he'd hang in there, but Lamar?  If he cannot play QB, he should be content playing WR or doing whatever he can to help his home university.  The NFL is not in his future so I do not understand this chasing the QB dream.  Just play football and stop whining.
I agree. I read in one of the Enterpirse artilcles that he had said he left WV becuse he was promised he would get a chance to compete for the starting job as a freshman. There was no way he was going to beat out Geno Smith as starter. He transfered because he couldn't win the backup job.
 5.
This is sad.  Three years, three schools.  His twitter says he is headed to Houston for the summer.  I'd have trouble beleiving he will go to UH.  I know HBU is starting football...maybe?  Anyone have any ideas where he may land?  He can always look at the lower divisions if he is heck bent on playing QB.  That's probably the only way.
I was one of his biggest fans when he transfered here from WV. However, with the latest transfer it seems he wasn't as good as the hype. This year was setting up to be his breakthrough year, but he he couldn't seperate himself from the other two QBs to be named starter after spring. That maybe Woodard not wanting to name a starter. However, with his hype, he should've been good enough to force Woodard to name him the starter.   I hope, if he does go JUCO, that he can develope his QB skills and he fullfills his potential. However, with him going to 3 schools in 3 years, you have to consider him a bust.
 6. Cards don't need that kind of trouble. The fact that you are supposed to be a top athlete and you smoke tells me all I need to know.

All the FBS conferences want your stadium to have at least 30,000 - 35,000 capacity. You will also have hire more coaches and substantially increase the coaching salaries. I don't think Lamar is willing to do that. I do think think the Montagne Center and Vincent-Beck would be good enough facilities for the WAC or Sun Belt.
The Sun Belt has a couple of stadiums that only hold about 25K.  Here's what I think Provost Umphrey Stadium would look like if expanded to 30K.  It would be one nice stadium if the do expand it. [img][Hidden Content]]
You're right, it would be nice. However, I don't think Lamar would or could spend the money it would take to be successfull at the FBS level.

 9. I think Toby is a good young coach. However, he doesn't have the credentials that the 5 finalist have. I think he needs to be a head coach at the 2A or 1A school first and then the 5A and 4A jobs will come for him. I think with Jasper, that looks like a really strong pool of applicants to choose from. They all have HC and AD experience. Toby's time will come.
 10. Lamar is a loonngg way from even thinking about going FBS.
 11. Here's the schedule for Deweyville this week. 4/5 @Kountze 6;30 Deweyville will be the home team. 4/6 @ Hardin at 2:30 4/7 @ Warren at 1:00 This will catch us up with district as we have a bye on 4/9. Hopefully we can play Buna in Deweyville on the 13th.
 12. The game is rescheduled for Saturday @ 6:00 at Anahuac.

Go Mountaineers!
Very admirable resume.  I think Hardin made a good hire.  I hope everything works out for the new guy and family...I would imagine Hardin is a tough place to coach.
A Mountaineer fan! ;D  I know he'll do well at Hardin.
 14. He's had 2 losing seasons in 29 years as a head coach. That's pretty good in my book.
 15. Can we please get the D-3 schools off the schedule! McMurry?! Season ticketholders don't want to see LU/McMurry. Put Langston in that group, too.

 17. LU is not going to get a guy from this area if they are recruited by a team from the major conferences. They just can't compete with that. If the numbeers are correct from an earlier post, LU has about 40-45% of it's roster made up of local players. That souds like about the right make up. I know there are some on here that think LU should have 100% from SE Texas, well if they do that then they won't be good, ever. Look at your plyoff and state championship teams. Most reside in East Texas and the Metroplex. Those are the two areas I think he needs to concentrate on. I'm not saying there aren't good quality players here, just not as many as there used to be. This is his third class, If they don't improve within the nexr two years, then it'll be someone else's turn.
 18. Kirbyville will not dominate that district. With EC and Newton in there, there's no way they dominate. Anahuac and Woodville are usually decent also. If Deweyville has to go Anderson-Shiro, that's a 3 hour and 15 minute trip. According to Google they are 179 miles one way. I'm glad the UIL took in account travel expenses.
 19. Deweyville's closest district game is Hemphill at over 2hrs. The longest being Anderson-Shiro at about 3hrs and 15 minutes. No body else in SE Texas can come close to those travel times in district. If we have to go to Anderson-Shiro on a thursday night, what time do you think we will get back to school? How 'bout a Friday game? 3am? I know the UIL could've found a district closer to Navasota to put them in. They didn't do us any favors in basketbal either. Corrigan-Camdem is in our basketball district at about 2 and a half hours. I'm just sayin'.
 20. I like the fact that Lamar has a coach that will make his athlets accountable. One thing about the Knights, Bobby or Pat, they will make their kids go to class. I think these kids need to either get with the program or go somewhere else. Kudos to coach Knight!
 21. Two incidents involving LaMarque after athletic events. The UIL needs to have a meeting with LaMarque's Principal, AD, and Superintendant and let them know they won't tolerate another incident. This is getting rediculous.
 22. I was there for the Saturday games and 42,900 seemed low. I don't know what they went on but I'll bet in the 4th quarter of the Aledo game it was closer to 46,000 or 47,000. All SLC fans were filling in then, 3 of the 4 levels were full. Not 49,000 but still impressive.
