  1. Well, from what I have experienced from the first week of crouch football LC-M will do good this year. His workouts are twice as hard as what we're use to and as for our football team we were young lats year but we will have almost all are starters from last year. The only big blow for graduation is to our offense line where we lost 3 starting linemen. but there are two starting linemen (including me) returning.

Good to hear. Sounds like you have a good attitude. Hang tough because it may get tougher.

    Good luck.

  2. like to know if it was a packed house

Why weren't you there skipper? There were alot of well wishers including a couple of Mustangs.

The school is busy this morning trying to figure out how these guys got past security!   ;D

Not true!! LCM welcomes most potential converts. ;D

We are all "potential" converts but I don't look for it to happen any time soon.

I understand the hesitation. Some need to wait to actually witness the Crouch turnaround.  ;)

The Crouch turnaround has nothing to do with me converting. It's going to be the downfall of my school that makes me convert.

Seriously; I understand. I hate to see the WOS struggles. There's an awful lot at risk.  :-[

  3. will coach crouch have to change his style of football at lc-m this year

Will Coach Crouch change HIS style? I hope he won't change his style. I'm sure that probably wasn't one of his comments during the interview process. I can hear it now...Yes, Mrs. Hargrove, these are all my accomplishments over my athletic career...but don't pay much attention to that because if given the chance, I'd like to totally change my style. ???

If you're talking about the kids, then I hope he's not closed-minded and I hope he doesn't stereo-type the kids at LCM as some seem to have. LCM has the athletes to compete, but the first order of duty is to get them inspired to come out for the team. They have a young, gifted quarterback in Hunter Gonzales who can pretty much do it all. I'm sure whatever offensive scheme is drawn up at LCM it will revolve around him. I hope he chooses to spread it out.

When you think of teams in the area with speed...Nederland is not the first team that pops into your head, but they have done well spreading the ball around. That's the style of play and direction I hope to see the Bears heading.

Speaking of Hunter, I had a good long talk with him and his dad last night. ;D

    J/K

    ;D ;D

Not a real concern. ;D I was just about to walk over and make sure the thermostat was set comfortably in his dad's control room and offer up some overtime later in the week if he's interested. ;D ;D ;)

Rocky's response is "Hunter is born and raised to wear green and gold".

Thanks for doing your part Slam. :)

  5. For the first time ever I will say, Oswalt is dumb

His recommendation is too extreme but I certainly understand the frustration of those playing the game right.

Clemmons, Tejada, Arod, Bonds, Sosa, all suspect or confirmed, all past MVPs. (not to mention many others speculated)

I'm going to assume Roy and Burkman have played clean because I'm counting on them to not have the Clemmons arrogance as they stand on their bold soapbox.

I also assume those that have used in the past are sitting quietly in the corner holding their breath.

  6. The way I see it is let them use the stuff but put them under strict doctors orders etc.  Heck, they are just entertaining like WWE does.  Who are we to judge, they get paid millions of dollars to entertain us.  I bet revenue has skyrocketed since all this steroid stuff has come out several years back.  Bad publicity is always good publicity in the entertainment business.

With that mentality we should allow, no, encourage, no, reward, the bean ball, bench clearing brawls, nose to nose arguments with the ump with a few punches thrown in. That should really boost the ratings for the sake of entertainment.  ???

  7. As an Lcm alum and parent, I must say I was disappointed at the showing tonight.  There was a crowd at the beginning of the meeting, but those of us there to support Crouch quickly found out most were there because their kids were being recognized for well deserved awards ( band, art, etc. ).  As their children were recognized, most parents left with their children before Crouch was presented to the board.

To be fair though, I am not sure the event was well publicized.  I would have thought however, that the majority of the school's athletes would have been there to show their support.

I will say this though...  after reading several interviews in the local papers where Coach Crouch mentioned his faith and after speaking with him in person tonight, THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT THE LCM ATHLETIC PROGRAM IS IN GOOD HANDS.

Good luck Coach and may God bless you and your endeavors!

    Peace,

  8. In my eyes I like what Sir Charles said, kids should not always look up to pro athletes. They are human too. If parents are worried about role models then it all starts and ends with parents being the ones their kids look up to, not someone you only see on TV.

Once again I get to agree and disagree. Parents must do there job and kids should not look up so highly to profesional athletes,,, but they do.

Watching the little legue world series on ESPN 70% of the kids had AROD as their favorite player.

LOL. One day I'm going to get you to totally agree with me on something. I am making it my life's mission!

Once again I get to agree an disagree. You may not ever get me to totally agree, BUT it should be your life mission.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

  10. arod is still a HOF no doubt about it.......I mean it doesnt suprise me he tested positive......so many players were doing it....but the thing is AROD has always been a great player throughout his career......the guys that take them that are just descent it doesnt help them to much because u still got to be great and have the talent and AROD was a 5 tool player coming into his rookie season....

    ,

He is a naturally great, but still needs steroids? Nothing but ego. Maybe he's been using since his rookie season. There have been stories of mediocre players that used, just to get that edge to make it to the next level. Stupid none the less, but AROD didn't need it. 2003, homerun leader and MVP? Yes there should be an asterisk. It's a slap in the face to those that play the game right.

  11. There shouldn't be an asterisk anywhere. A majority of the players seem to have done it and baseball basically didn't care.

It was the baseball era so I am done judging anyone who tested positive.

I'll agree and disagree with you Gabe.

What's this tell our student athletes, everyone does it?

But the bigger problem is MLB. Tested positive in 2003 and kept private? What the heck.

  12. well   TD,i went to lutcher stark hight school was a tiger  both of my girl went to lc-m smiles.but i am ones of the best fans that the mustangs can have,i just love to be a mustang. i have some very good friends at lc-m  ,i try to back them also smiles i hope that helped out some TD i know you are BIG fan also of the mustangs and u help out as much as you can at the school when u can find time and that makes u a super mustang fan. i hoope we can meet one day and you can say  and lol thats the guy that cant spell

Spelling doesn't bother me at all.

I try to support the Bears when I'm not supporting the Mustangs. I actually have two signs on their field. I also have a nephew that plays baseball out there.

I thought you were a true Mustang but sometimes when you speak you say "we" when you are speaking of the Bears. I'm fine with it either way I was just curious. I'm sure one day we will meet.

I think you both make it pretty clear through yours posts that you are true Blue Mustang fans and loyalist but it also appears you both are still LCM supporters. That's the way it should be, and vice versa.  :)

  13. Hooks is used to turn over and having to replace coaches but things are changing. With the on going busing battle and money troubles, it's very possible that Hooks will have an even bigger fight to replace the coaches he's loosing. With multiple battles to fight against admin and the board just to keep his program afloat, I wonder how much fight he has left in his tank. At what point will he say to heck with it and just throw in the towel. I hope not, but you couldn't blame him.
