If not for the win at Nederland by the Raiders, I would say they're toast. Three out of four of their remaining tough games are on the road. They have a tough run in the second half but their best pitcher should be rested up and be able to pitch in three out of the four tough games if everything goes well.

with 3 teams at 4-3 there will be some big games the second half. when the season started i thought lumberton was better than vidor or nederland.
lumberton better hope that project graduation don't have any events planned around their big games or they may not make the playoffs......

None. Babin is awesome. Coaching is 80% dealing with people and 20% X's and O's. Anyone that's ever coached on any level should know this. I could NEVER coach for a living, EVER. Having to move your family after a couple lackluster seasons would seem horrendous to me. On the other hand, you pick the job you want knowing ahead of time EXACTLY what you're getting into, so no sympathy here. The boy's baseball and basketball coaches at Lumberton make their own beds. They really need to be more in tune to the kids they coach. It's in their best interest in the long run. If not, go into another line of work. Rant over.

Too many idiots commenting on hearsay on this post. The chance of injury during a project graduation volleyball game is comical. A player looking out for his health that wasn't allowed to go through his proper warm routine is selfish? Believe me, the KIDS know the true story. They're united and I hope they can get it together and have a great outcome in district play. If not, at least they're learning life lessons. Some people seem to think they're best friends with these kids because they follow them on twitter, etc lol. These are some great kids with outstanding character. They also have some amazing, giving parents. Everyone looking for drama will have to look elsewhere, sorry. Good day!

It would be easier to let go of last week if we didn't have a Lumberton coach on Facebook over the weekend calling both of these boys a Cancer that needs to be removed.  Talk about Keeping it Classy.

Really?? So we're comparing student athletes to inmates now?? Asylum I'm not arguing with too much. Would love to see the rule brought down on this matter. The coach informed these boys that he didn't want baseball players playing in the volleyball match. Is that a school rule or the personal wishes of a school official? Is that an order? Is he the leader that sends these boys into combat? Are these students not allowed to think on their own even in a planned school event for a good cause?
Do we have to wait until these boys graduate for them to have an opinion or make a simple choice? Your child may blindly follow any order or directive from a school official whether right or wrong. Do you tell your child to follow any suggestion even if it's wrong? God help this country. My child can think for himself and for that I can take comfort in his ability to handle the next step in his life.

Awesome post spoonbill! You get it. I've seen from these young men the leadership they've been craving for several years now. Most of these boys have matured into young men over the last several days. Very proud of them. Lumberton baseball has young leaders trying hard but getting knocked down at every turn.

Again, you don't know what has transpired over the course of weeks, months, and even longer. This isn't a one time thing. You kick a dog enough times, well you know the rest. My son has had enough rule by intimidation. Punishment deserved? Yes. Punish the whole team? No. The weren't drinking in the parking lot or broke a school regulation, or MIP and brushes with the law. It's a fun volleyball game that they committed to way before that day. The whole school was there to watch. So in my opinion he did meet his obligations and his team was there to support him. Nice try....

Well the trolls are about I see. You have no idea what goes on in the "superstars" home. I noticed that this is the second night for the troll to show themselves on the Lumberton matter. I just so happen to be a parent of one of the so called "superstars".  My superstar has shown us that he won't be pushed around and intimidated by the very people we've entrusted to his care at LISD. You want to talk about class? He's shown us that standing up for himself and his teammates is far more important than bowing down and cowering at the very thought of paying a price for attending planned school sponsored Project Graduation volleyball event. He's shown his teammates that if you make a commitment that you feel worthy, then stay the course. I've heard that they didn't want an injury and it would hurt the team. Well, all fine except he wasn't injured in this very intense and straining volleyball game but was made to sit the bench which ironically hurt the team. You see, their's always another side to the story. But I'm sure you'll continue your posts about how enlightened you feel about this situation. Just know my son made a decision and judgement call. Like it or not we're proud of him. As he gathered his teammates out on the field today to pick them up and get their opinions on today's game I felt that was one of the classiest things I've seen all year. L-town is classy and hasn't stopped being classy.

This was a very opportune time to teach this "life lesson" as everyone calls this. Coach knows he MUST win at least one of these three games over five days to stay viable in district. His district caliber  pitching is very limited. He now has his best pitching for the next two games that are much more winnable. GCM has shown itself to be the cream of the district crop so far this year and it's hardly a surprise. Risking injury in a project graduation volleyball game sounds pretty absurd to me but if the coach told them not to do it, that should be the end of it. Here's to a big W today for the Raiders!

I never said he made it past the dugout.  Your post seemed to imply that since he did not make it past the dugout that it wasn't a big deal.  I don't think anyone at that ballpark believed he was going out on the field to discipline his son and I feel pretty certain Cavness did not believe that, either.  I'll agree with you on Cavness, he is top notch and some friends of the baseball program may not be pleased with how he deals with this situation.
As for flaming kids on social media, you said you were certain that other PNG and Nederland players were at the beach drinking, but did not get caught and should not have been playing.  I guess it is okay to flame everyone as guilty by association and then hide behind some sense of moral superiority that you are not going to "throw names out on social media just for the hell of it."  Based on that response, I'll just assume the answer is you don't know anything about the lives and times of the kids from both PNG and Nederland who were not arrested or cited over spring break.

I was there. I am a PNG fan. But his actions were uncalled for. No matter what the environment is like, as a kid ,which he still is, should not act like that in any game no matter the intensity of it. He is a highly thought of prospect and his dad charging the field makes him look even worse. He needs to show he can handle the adversity and control hisself. My son is on the sophomore team and if he acted like that I would not be charging the field to get at the umpire as Henry's did. I would be charging it to yank my kid off the field and tear his arse up. The actions of both the son and dad are totally uncalled for and should be dealt with some sort of punishment.

The kid curses a batter after he strikes him out, using the F-bomb, in front of the umpire, and you say he doesn't deserve to be ejected. Wow,,,,,,you're an idiot. You probably think it's alright that his dad runs out on the field and argues with the umpire also. Looks like some discipline issues at the ole teepee.

The Beck was electric.  That was a great game, and had all 3 of my boys there with me.  Wish we could keep that type of excitement and make Lamar games an event.  Hopefully we can schedule tough games.  Just my opinion, but the Beck needs a facelift.  We need to cover the stands, new concession stands, and bring it up to participate with other venues.  I love going to the games.  Convenient, beautiful playing surface.  Let LSU have The Box, let's get The Beck as a destination.
