  1. they're gonna do a double header? haven't heard of that in the last several years. better hope the rain holds out. i know quite a few years ago they had to shorten a tournament to single elimination due to weather. i wouldn't put it past b.c. considering they are running the tourney. BC is not running the tourney. They are hosting it. District 32 is running the tournament and makes all decisions about games, etc. i guess you don't know who runs the district then. guess who the district administrator is. i'll give you a clue. when you're at the game look above the center field fence and check the name that the field is named after. :

  3. west end and bridge city are to meet tonight. are they playing at 6, 7, or 7:30? i know they were gonna try and play the game last night at 6, but moved it to 7:30. west end has to win tonight and then again tomorrow to advance.
  4. awesome game....west end came back from the dead twice to take the game. big left hander from orwall hit one off the light's in right center. not to be outdone, a couple innings later a kid from west end hit one over the same lights. several bombs in this game.
  5. RedBird5, District 12 is holding the Sectionals for Juniors. I don't think the DA has confirmed what park will host. I would guess maybe West End/Amelia field. I will post when I find out. Ok thanks, Vincent Beck Stadium would be nice. did they ever set where the juniors are playing? Amelia thanks

  7. they definitely have a good team. the talent at sectionals will be much better. the 2 run home run by clayton was awesome....first pitch from new pitcher...the kid thru his glove and cussed...he's lucky the umps didn't say anything. No he didn't. he most definitely threw his glove and semi-yelled sh!t. he did well and pulled it together afterwards, but definitley threw his glove and cursed. i was right at the backstop. all three games between the two teams were great games.

  9. i predict that the game between west end and bridge city will be an awesome standing room only game. both teams are stacked and i mean STACKED! bring your chairs or get there early.
  10. OK. You did misunderstand my statement. The main thing I would say is different between league and select as far as developing skills go is the fact that in select you usually have all 10 kids that really want to learn v. 4 that want to learn 4 that just want to play and 3 that their parents want them to play. Is that the same 3 that build sand castles in the outfield? Yes, those sand castles bring back good memories when you have coached as long as I have. One of the sand castle builders was a great kid but he was as wide as he was tall at that age. The other day I dropped by one of my favorites, Rao's, and as I was getting my coffee. There was a tap on my shoulder and a voice said "Hey coach". As I turned around I knew the face but couldn't quite recognize this 6'0'' body builder looking guy until I looked at his policeman badge and remembered putting him my lineup. We had a great time talking about our Little League days. moments like that make it all worth it........even the castle builders Amen! Don't get me wrong the hole diggers have a special place in a coaches heart just as the other kids do. If people only realized that most coaches do it because they love being around kids, all kids. i remember one kid whose mom wanted him to play to make new friends. i couldn't get him to get into "ready" postion in the outfield since he had never played. i finally got him to squat like a sumo wrestler to get into position. every time for the rest of the yr when i said ready position, he would pick up one leg, then pick up the other and finally get in "ready" position. it was hilarious and he liked the attention. he finally got a hit in our next to last game and it was like he hit a 10 run home run. the parents went nuts. that's why coaches put in all the hours in little league...for moments like that.
  11. BCLL 13 VLL 12 Who pitched for BCLL? not sure...medium sized kid that thru a lot of offspeed stuff...i left in the 5th and he was still pitching and they were up 8-2 i think...he had vidor off balance pretty good...more of a g. maddux type pitcher.
  12. the game on the 8th is in vidor weather permitting.
  13. this game is to be played tonight in vidor @ 7:00 not in bridge city. the bracket on allprosoftware has it wrong.
  14. i kinda figured that. most leagues i've been around have quality coaches. i think playing both is the way to go if your kid is gung ho. this allows kids who want to excel to get more instruction plus doesn't kill the leagues that we grew up (as parents) playing in. the coaches in most leagues are usually in it because they love the game and enjoy teaching the kids and being around them. plus, the pay is great. ;D
  15. a lot of kids nowadays play both select and league ball. it all depends on the kid. the parent must be able to tell if the kid truly wants to play baseball year round or is being nudged in that direction. remember most kids want to make their parents happy and may say they want to do something to satisfy them. if the kid truly eats and sleeps bball, there is no reason to keep them from it. p.s. i'm glad i don't live in your area if league baseball there teaches him "absolutely nothing". that's just sad.
  16. fannett hampshire winnie stowall....a pretty large area...i think they actually play out of two park locations
  17. i believe a few were freshman this year. they should be pretty impressive.
  18. do the ages go by what age they are at 04/30/09 like in the regular season? is it only 8 yr olds or are there some 7's too? where do yall play next and when?
  19. i hear from secret sources that the w.e. 12's can't hit their way out of a wet paper sack. lol
  20. does this 8 and under tournament go by the the age guidelines in the little league green book? i'm gonna have to catch one of these games to see the little ones pitch from 46' i'm sure it will be a fun game to watch
  21. the seniors (15-16) are still playing their regular season games. they have to start late because some of the kids are playing h.s. ball. bridge city and vidor will each field a senior all-star team. not sure about the rest of the district. the 12's and the juniors (13-14) announce on the 15th of june.
  22. I think the all-star teams to be from vidor little league would question your statement that their league isn't as strong. There may be a few more kids in vybl but i would say the talent is comparable. Although we do let every kid play every game. I wasn't trying to say anything negative about Vidor LL. I was just making a comment about the numbers.I apologize if you took it that way. And we also let every kid play every game, and all the way to pony we bat the line up not just nine. apolopy not needed....i knew what you meant, just stirrin the pot. the reason bcll, ned, etc. have strong little leagues is that they get every ball player in their area. (excluding a few select kids....most select kids play both) there is no competiton from another league. they also only have one all-star team for each age group...9,10,11, etc. their all-star teams are usually very good. they basically get the best kid off of each team.. sometimes two kids off of a team..sometimes none. bridge city's boundary is pretty big. there was a deweyville based little league called twin county ll that folded after rita. they are now in vidor's district, but it's difficult to pull a lot of kids because of travel time for practices and games. good luck to all vidor baseball kids and coaches...we'll be together before you know it for frosh ball.
