  1. you must have not seen vidor play this year. that one sided attack is averaging close to 500 yds a game and close to 50 pts. i predict over 400 yds rushing for vidor and a td by pass. if they can hang onto the ball, they should win. that said, it will be tough going into lumberton on their homecoming and pulling out the w. it should be a shootout.
  2. i don't agree. it is just shocking that a varsity team in any sport would forfeit a district game because some kids choose NOT to go to the game. that's the bottom line. y'all homers are just blinded by your emotions. if it were my team, i would be just as mad. it is a bad example for the kids.
  3. First, this LONG thread has both positive and negative post on it. It has NOTHING (JMO) to do with WOS, it's about the situation and how it WAS handled and how it SHOULD have or COULD have been handled. The only negative post I have seen is on the girls that left their team. I think WOS has a great football program, but I'm starting to think the WOS fans are WAY to emotional. :'( ditto. i'm not sure why they are so touchy. most posts aren't bashing wos, just stating that this was handled in the wrong way. i'm hoping things change before tomorrow. the situation has little to do w/ wos football, that's for sure. maybe they are worried about bad karma. ;D
  4. i don't think it has ANYTHING to do with wos. at least it doesn't to me. when is the last time a varsity team of any kind forfeited because some of the players WANTED to do something else. that's the bottom line. i'm sure there are some posting just because it is wos, but that's not my issue at all. it just doesn't happen.
  5. so what you're saying is there's plenty of time to make it by halftime. thanks.
  6. i'm sure they planned for bringing a bus to the vb game. why can't they plan on having one to bring them to the fb game afterwards. they could've made it work. that is the bottom line. it's not rocket science. it's like the just said the heck with it and gave up.
  7. Can you stop the run? I think he can answer your question better than me! And your point is? If your point is his size? Not impressed! actually looks pretty small compared with who will be pounding on him over and over and over.
  8. in my opinion hooks has himself in a little bit of a pickle that he did nothing to cause. i think as an a.d., he should leave the matter up to his coach. if he doesn't like the way it is handled, then he can choose to do something about it...preferably after the season. the comments on here that make the most sense blame this mess on the girls and their parents. i would say it is about 25% girls and 75% parents. the girls are just that.....kids. the parents should know better. like was stated before, they made concessions where the girls could probably do both, but the parents seem to be too lazy or uninterested to accomplish this goal. this is being a very bad example for your kids. it's all about commitment. what does this tell these kids about life? that it's ok to skip work cause you would RATHER do something else?
  9. So how do you choose? The football team can have 3 cheerleaders, and the drill team can have 7 less dancers, but the VB team cannot play with 3 people. And to someone elses point, they could play at 4 and be there by 1/2 time if they planned it. that says it all right there. they wouldn't be letting down the football team by having a few less cheerleaders and drill team members. they ARE letting down the volleyball team. i can only lay the blame at the parents feet. kids at this age don't always make the right decisions. the parents job is to help them and steer them in the right direction. that obviously didn't happen here. as to them only having 9 or 10 on each team...that would only be a problem this week and they could make it work. i guarantee that there are some girls that didn't make any of the teams that would jump to get on any team they could.
  10. any reports of canceled jr. high games tonight yet? doesn't look like it's gonna slow down. post any cancellations you've heard of please. hopefully they all get played. i doubt that they'll reschedule anything that doesn't get played.
  11. where do they sell this sauce??? is it good on brisket??? and what does it smell like???
  12. i hear that as of now trae hester is stronger than ever. his rehab has made him stonger and supposedly he is hitting upper 80's and lower 90's. can anyone confirm this?
  13. i have always thought that alvin and the chipmunks were overrated....so low tech.
  14. i know vidor has ran out the time inside the 5 twice this year. like the other coach said "what goes around, comes around". coaches don't forget.
  15. ditto...it's classless to talk about kids who risk injury every friday night to play for their school. keep the mean spirited comments to yourself. i'm sure every single kid is giving everything they've got.
  16. Yeah that's it. Just a new coach. No other changes . I sure hope Mathews prepares for the same PNG team and schemes that they faced last year. You forget that PNG was the easiest team in the district to prepare for. Very, Very, Very predictable. If you ask anyone that has seen them play this year they will tell you that is not the case anymore. Used to be that if they changed formations they ran the same play out of that formation every time. Now they change formations on each play and will run multiple plays out of each formation. Also different from last year is an attitude! You guys in Vidor can attest to that. What has changed in Vidor from past years...Attitude. Good Luck against Central next week. Central will be Vidors first real game of the year! If Vidor stomps on Central like they did the TAPS league then they will get the respect they feel they deserve. who has png played??? at least when vidor played so called weaker opponents, they took care of business and beat them easily....while png easily could have lost at least one of their games. we'll see what happens to png when they play teams like central, vidor, lumberton, etc. you should be happy your program is getting turned around going in the right direction...just don't get all giddy at this point. what was png's record last year at this point???
  17. no offence taken. i was really aiming my comments toward the nothing counts except district crowd. i'd like to see them tell a kid that blew out his knee in a non-district game that it was a stupid non-district game. good luck to all of district 20-4a unless they're playin' the pirates. btw nice helmet...anybody that hates t.u. is okay by me. ;D
  18. FW offense scored 7 points. That seems like a pretty optimistic post for an offense that didn't do a whole lot. Couldn't have been many "pancake blocks". Just saying.... Did you read the entire post? We moved the ball a ton and did not put it in the end zone!! Mental mistakes and unforced turnovers, do you know what that means? You can have over 250 yards offense, which we did, and only score 7 points with the offense. Capice? Wanna watch the film and count the pancakes, at least 10! Sorry that you doubted my credibility - but I was there and you were not. I watched the film and you did not. Next comment? 250 yards of offense? That's supposed to impress someone? A real juggernaut. Next comment... ditto.....they EXPLODED for 250.
  19. be careful...you're showing your intelligence. how can they be 1-3 after playing 6 games? stay off the purple drank. obviously he meant district, u know, the games that really matter why are there all of these topics and posts if none of these games matter? why do they even play them? why are you on here posting comments about them? they should just shut the site down until district. someone needs to tell all the fans to quit going to these stupid games that don't matter. i'll leave it up to you and pngfan to get the word out. :
  20. be careful...you're showing your intelligence. how can they be 1-3 after playing 6 games? stay off the purple drank.
  21. are you serious??? where is this elitist attitude you talk about? all of the posters that normally follow vidor are glad they have a good team and hoping to make the playoffs this year. i cringed when dave campbell picked vidor to win district. he definitely did them no favors. he brought people out of the woodwork saying that vidor fans are elitist which could be nothing further from the truth. the vidor fan's comments on this board for the most part are well thought out and optimistic but definitely not cocky.
  22. Vidor has 5 junior high teams: 7th , 8th North A , 8th North B, 8th south A , 8th south B The team that beat C.O. Wilson 28 - 0 is Vidor 8th South B. (all 8th graders except there backfield) The 7th grade does not have a chance because the Vidor coaches took all their best players and put them on 8th grade teams. They do not work with the 7th graders at all ! there is not an north 8a and 8b team and south 8a and 8b team, there is a north a and b and south a and b. the north and south b teams have just as many 7th as 8th graders. it was a little confusing at first, but i think it will work itself out. the coaches made a decision because they had too many kids for 4 teams, plus some schools in our district just started 7th grade teams this year. the main reason all this was done, i believe, is to give the kids more playing time. last year the north 7th and south 7th played a lot of 8b teams because that was all that was available. it is hard for the 7th graders to pick up the offense vidor runs and they will take some lumps, but in the long run it will help them transition to high school ball and that's the main purpose of jr high football. as for the coaches not working with the 7th graders....that is a flat out lie. they had very little time to get prepared for their first game due to school starting so late and it showed. i think the coaches are doing their best and are doing a good job with the resources they have. this is a LEARNING experience for the young kids. the wins and losses don't amount to much in jr high. you're hardly ever on equal playing terms with the teams you're playing. at least the 7th grade will be mostly playing 7th graders this yr and the ones playing up have some help from some 8th graders.
  23. i'm sure it was more than that...buildin' up those thumb muscles.
  24. vidor only had 8 school days before the first game. i don't see how 4 plus 7 (which is what the uil says) can equal 8 or in nederland's case 4 plus 7 equal 9. their must have been some sort of waiver acquired.
