  1. the vidor 8b team hasn't played yet. they had a bye this week. the second team that played was the 7a team. i think there are a few 8th graders on the team. the vidor 8b team is supposed to play c.o. next week in nederland from what is on the junior high website. they just formed the teams last friday and there is some confusion. they've all only practiced 2 days in pads.
  2. i believe it's a texas poll. maybe you should go back to geography class.
  3. vidor's 7b or c got beat by at least 30 pts by c.o. wilson. 7a beat c.o. and the 8th a lost to c.o. by 2 tds.
  4. how many schools are just starting 7th grade teams this year? i read on another post where nederland started 7th grade this year too.
  5. any word on pittman and peevey. i heard the injury to pittman was worse. hopefully both are 100% for district. i think they can do without them this week, then they're off a week. hopefully the big boy can get some playing time this week before district.
  6. FW offense scored 7 points. That seems like a pretty optimistic post for an offense that didn't do a whole lot. Couldn't have been many "pancake blocks". Just saying.... Did you read the entire post? We moved the ball a ton and did not put it in the end zone!! Mental mistakes and unforced turnovers, do you know what that means? You can have over 250 yards offense, which we did, and only score 7 points with the offense. Capice? Wanna watch the film and count the pancakes, at least 10! Sorry that you doubted my credibility - but I was there and you were not. I watched the film and you did not. Next comment? so i guess they won the "pancake block - decleater" competition but lost the game is what your sayin. i would rather it the other way for my team....just sayin.
  7. i don't think they'll lose, but they better go prepared for a tough game. their crowd will be up for the game. some of these private school's athletic programs can change drastically from yr to yr. the st thomas 9th and jv teams looked way better than what they had in the past and the varsity team looked like they played well last week too.
  8. here's to a speedy and full recovery. sometimes we forget that these are just kids. my prayers are with the player.
  9. i thought the score was vidor 20 st thomas 16. both st thomas teams looked a lot better than the teams they fielded last yr....much better athletes. there were some bad pass interference calls that made the game closer than it should have been. the pirates secondary better be ready to play tonight. they will be challenged by their spread offense. i believe they will pressure the qb better than the frosh and jv teams though.
  10. wow....check the comments at the bottom of the article. i guess we're back in the sixties. > nevermind they took them off...something about our racist views, etc. in vidor.
  11. it looks like vidor north will go into their game with c.o. with a grand total of 2 days practice in pads. not a great recipe for success. better keep the kids from gettin sunburns over the long weekend. the pads fell REAL good with a burn.
  12. i'd say the latter...definitely a pot stirrer. all true vidor fans are excited about the season but definitely not overconfident. anyone can fall any given week. like other posters stated, i hope our pass defense shows us something good this week. if they can shore that up, i think they'll have a good season and hopefully a playoff birth.
  13. he coaches the baseball team and also helps with the football team. his son is on the team and i'm sure he'll be there. a lot of people got autograghs last year when they came to vidor. they looked pretty good on the video i saw of their last game. of course, it was just highlights. they'll definitely test vidor's secondary, but vidor should win by at least a couple tds.
  14. None of the coaches back in my day could coach now. ;D not even the ones from ymca youth football....plus we had much better manners than most kids today. maybe that's why??? Maybe our Dads taught us manners better than our kids dads did. :-\ speak for yourself...mine are fine...notice i said MOST kids.
  15. None of the coaches back in my day could coach now. ;D not even the ones from ymca youth football....plus we had much better manners than most kids today. maybe that's why???
  16. wow...so st thomas would beat kelly by like 50 pts??? isn't st thomas a private school like kelly. kelly's season really looks bleak now. you should have more faith in your team. ;D
  17. how many schools in the area have high school swim teams? i know nederland does....just curious how many other schools have one. vidor, i believe, will have one this year.
  18. the freshman played buna's jv? looks like a close game. who scored the td? anyone know?
  19. gatorade and powerade are great. energy drinks like monster, rock star, red bull etc. are horrible for kids and actually dehydrate them more. most of the jr. high and older kids drink these.
  20. very good point. the kids need to be hydrated the day before you know they are going to be out in the heat. if you wait until they're thirsty you're already behind. good post, but i wouldn't expect less from a pirate. ;D
  21. i think this is about right. vidor should score at will early, then pull starters. unless the second and third string go wild, the scoring should settle down after that. i see kelly making a few big plays on offense against the 2nd and 3rd stringers. vidor's o line this year is something else. if they can stay healthy, they should do great.
  22. some people are genetically more susceptible to heat related illnesses. they may go thru life not knowing until pushed to a certain point. it also doesn't always go by the shape the kid is in. when i was in basic training, a kid fell out after a ride to a range in a "cattle trailer". he was one of the fittest guys in our company. he tried to come back 2 weeks later, but it happened again. the docs said he was predisposed to this and would be for the rest of his life. he was lucky to be alive. he had played and done all the regular things kids do growing up and was fine until he reached that certain point. please read the indications for heat exhaustion/stroke and know the signs and what to do if it happens. you never know. my prayers go out to the family. ps... energy drinks are extremely dangerous in the heat for kids.
  23. She's busy 'bashing me' :D She? Sgt Rey...Bruce Reyes...Hmmm am I drawing the wrong assumption here? I never said the tuition wasnt paid but as a private school they cannot afford to just let tuition go for some kids. I cannot go into further details. no need for further details. it's obvious from your post that kelly does indeed have the ability to recruit. the brown bros. made the bball team relevant for a while until the young one became too much for the coaches to handle. money doesn't always = happiness = success.
  24. i figured these two would be the teams to beat from the beginning. i bet they meet again in the u.s. championship game. both teams have some big ones. i definitely think b.c. would have done well in the tournament. those big kids don't look like they have to swing very hard to put it out. go texas!!!
