When the Ozen receiver got the ball in his hands at the 2 yard line, the play was dead. Had he picked it up at the 2 yard line and run it back for a 98 yard touchdown, the Dayton fans would have wanted the fair catch enforced.

Nederland started 0-2 in district last year only to make the playoffs. The pivotal game being the comeback against LC-M. There is still time for LC-M to make a run. A cat may have 9 lives but LC-M has three and two of them are already used up.

This is a tough game to call. Lumberton has deservedly gotten to the point of being believers that they will win. They are pumped up and ready to take on the world. A loss however to Central however bumps them off of their lofty perch. Lumberton will play a tough game to keep that from happening. Central is a very good team but with their backs almost to the wall. As a district favorite, to start 1-2 would be a tough blow with PN-G and Dayton still on the schedule. Central isn't dead by a long stretch and could still win the district championship. They just can't afford any more slip ups. I think it may make for a barn burner this week.

Just my opinion but they got the right coach at the right time for their program. They played some decent football last year at times but were in a new system and they had almost no seniors. This year they have most of the team returning and have a year under Credeur's system.

Nederland has been to the playoffs for 11 straight years. I would think that the fans from every team other team would be pulling for anyone that plays the Bulldogs. That is especially true of the Raiders. I mean, Nederland has gone to the playoffs more within the last year than Lumberton has gone to in their history. Can you blame them for wanting Nederland to lose?

You are probably right. I am sure that most people in southeast Texas wake up to the thoughts of hating Lumberton. I know that is the first thought the enters my head each morning. : Before Larry Neumann came to Nederland in 1993, you would have to go back to 1978 to find Nederland with a winning season. That was a mighty 6-4 team. I am sure that Nederland was not causing a lot of opposing fans to quake in their shoes. Since then Nederland has had no losing seasons. Winning gets people attention, talking does not. If Lumberon continues to win, they will be the talk of the town and there is nothing that a bulletin board forum can do to help or hurt it. Winning takes care of everything else. Keep winning and people will hate to see Lumberton on the schedule for that week.

That sounds good. How bad did they beat the 0-9 teams? You can't fault a team for beating teams that they should beat. They did play Stephenville to a 3 point game. They can't be too bad.

How far do you think they should drop after losing to the #2 team by a field goal?

For Marsh, 188 yards and 5 touchdowns is hard to beat. There are a lot of good yardage games posted by other players but Marsh is equal in yardage and had the huge touchdown display.

What was the score? I think that being 3-1 and losing to the second ranked team in the state is not that bad. I can see a tenth place spot for that, assuming that it was a decent game.

That seems true but it is likely true with most teams, especially the ones on the lower end of the rankings. Most teams don't go undefeated and the polls are always changing for a reason. Someone will lose and move down, someone will win and move up.

We went two games deep in the playoffs last year and we probably would not have been in the top 50. Everyone would like to be well thought of but I will trade polls for wins any day. If Nederland wins this week against a tough Central team and they do not make the top 10, you won't hear me crying because a team that is 3-2 is ranked ahead of us. I will take the win and the other team can take the ranking.

If Nederland could beat Central, then they will get a lot of consideration. It will still take someone above them losing.

Dayton is almost in the same boat as Lumberton. Both are playing teams that they should beat. The only difference is that if they lose, Lumberton will lose all of the momentum and some respect that they have built up and Dayton the will go from district favorite to a candidate for the door mat. It is time for both to step up and make some noise.

Lumberton will not erase 40+ years of futility with a single district win by one point. A few Lumberton fans apparently think that a single win should have them ready to be crowned the district champion. Maybe it will happen, just don't think everyone is ready to jump on the Lumberton bandwagon after a single district win on an extra point. Keep on winning and the fans from other schools will start worrying about Lumberton on their schedule. Until them, keep those crying towels handy.

The article says that he has a previous conviction for assaulting his wife. It also says that he was arrested this time on an Unlawful Carrying Weapon charge. If that is true, he may be looking at a few years in the federal penitentiary for illegal possession of a firearms by a person convicted of domestic violence. That may be in additon to any state charges that may be filed. I think Lucky's luck may have run out.
