Dayton looked bigger but not as talented as last year. Trying to figure out if you have an unproven qb, an rb who's best year is behind him and no real playmakers on the edges, how Dayton is excellent and Crosby is average? Didn't see the scrimmage, but if they did what they did against St. Thomas it was basically a four play offense and try to keep the twins healthy. All this will be for not Friday night when Crosby's singing GO BIG RED late into the Nederland night! [color=red][b]You might be full of poo poo 14! I dont think elkins will be bigger or more athletic than dayton this year. Our oline averages around 280 and thats good sized for any school. Daytons team speed is excellent and can compare with almost anyone. Elkins will be big and fast and might win the game but the size and speed difference will be minimal at best. This game will show what the Bronco's are made of, this won't be a glorified scrimmage.  Elkins will be bigger and faster than Dayton with more athletes over all. Good Scrimmage the  Bronco's made some big plays with alot of young talent took up slack with our starting RB on the sidelines.  Defense looks solid against the run ,but needs work defending the long pass. Big Neds defensive line very big,athletic and quick I think Ned.will hit their stride and kick some butt.

It's always devistating when something tragic happens to a y oung person ! Prayers for him and his family.

[/quote] I believe you were misinformed then...  Call this suspect if you want, but I know what I saw.  The Dayton freshman & JV teams absolutely dominated, but I wouldn't say the same for the varsity.  Don't get me wrong, they did look better than Friendswood, but Friendswood looked horrible asside from their QB and D-line.  Dayton couldn't keep the ball in their hands to save their lives.  I counted 6 fumbles and they lost 5 of them.  The best thing I saw on Dayton's part was the tackling and route running.  They swarmed the ball and wrapped up on defense, and the WR's took advantage of the 10 & 15 yard cushions the Mustang DB's were giving them.  When the ball was thrown their way the Dayton wideouts caught it just about every time.  Dayton's speed was very impressive, but the O-Line struggled pretty bad.  The Bronco QB was running for his life occasionally, and with him swinging the ball out there like he was, Dayton will continue to have turn over issues if that problem isn't addressed.  This team has potential and good coaching so I'm sure they'll sort things out. Dayton looked good for their first scrimage with good speed we have alot of young skill players that will really shine this year. #18 McBride sophmore (I think) is going to be something special the last play of the game he threw a 70 yd td. Friendswood QB has a great arm and is good QB.

[/quote] I"ll put my 3 cents in .  First of all I like our defensive line coach -fire,fire,fire he builds a fire under those kids while all the time he's teaching, teaching, teaching them skills. We have quaility depth on both lines with big,fast, athletic kids and I like their intensity & chemisrty. The LB coach has the same traits as the line coach and he has some head-hunters lurking in the back field with some speed& athleticism. Chamber's  will be hard to stop and their wont' be much of a  drop off with the back up QB who has good down field vision and is a very accurate passer.

I also was impressed with what I saw ; Our defense is loaded and looks good this year already !  We have alot more depth on both sides of the ball something Dayton is not always blessed with in previous years. I like our odds complemented with the best kicker in TX this team will put up alot of W's.
