NISD has amazing teachers and educators that care about the kids and their well being... if this bond passes or doesn’t pass they will continue to do the same I hope and teacher these kids well... but it’s hard to teach when my 3rd grader has a leaking roof in his classroom and has to go to the cafeteria on a hard rain. Or my 5th grader in a classroom of 33 students to 1 educator and sitting at a round table. That’s not right, something needs to be done. 

Folks used to ride horses to get where they went and that worked just fine for the time they were in…some genius invented a car and suddenly things got better and more opportunities presented themselves..what if someone had said "we don't need these expensive automobiles!  horses work just fine"

Good point. I think the "maintenance costs going down" is a profound and important advantage to upgrading. It is true that the bond costs 156 million dollars, but Nederland is already paying a certain amount every year in the form of lost time to inefficiencies that come from bad equipment/facilities and having to repair and upkeep bad equipment, etc. The choice to not upgrade is an expensive one and it can be measured in actual dollars that repeat year after year after year. I would love to see some calculations as to how much added costs have already come from the facilities being so old. Improved facilities, while expensive in the short run, can bring those costs down, ultimately leading to long-term savings. 
There's also an advantage to the hiring process that comes from improved facilities -- Teachers want to work at schools with nice facilities. You aren't just paying for bricks and mortar -- You are paying for an overall work and educational experience that will encourage teachers and staff to come and stay. The bright, enthusiastic, prepared teachers that everyone wants to have teach their kids are more likely to want to go to Nederland if the building looks like someone in charge cares about the school and that the community  is willing to spend money to make things work. That, theoretically, will lead to a better educational experience for the kids. It's not the only thing that brings teachers in, but I think it is an important one. 

So, I'm curious as to what model and year your current vehicle is?  I bet you upgrade at least every 5-7 years to a newer model.  Why do you do that when your 5-7 year old vehicle is just fine as long as you keep up maintenance on it.  Well I can think of several reasons, such as dependability, less maintenance costs, newer,efficient design and comfort, upgraded technology so as to use the abundant and helpful "smart" features that are now offered.  I can list more but I think you get the point. So have you toured the schools?  Your opinion is buildings are fine, even though maintenance costs are through the roof and overcrowding is serious problem, which a new school would correct and provide a comfortable learning environment.  Current design of the schools are not using the space to get the most bang for the buck, you got overcrowded classrooms and teacher spaces/desks are a joke for them to conduct class from, which again a new school with an UPDATED layout would fix this. As far as technology, these kids need to be exposed to the latest and greatest technological environment that we can possibly provide and not hold them back in a 1970's environment, and once again, a new school will help provide this.  Our schools lose value the older they get and has a direct impact on property values within the district as well. Please, open your eyes and your mindset.  I don't know if you have kids in the schools here and if you don't I can understand why you wouldn't want to pay higher taxes to cover it.  I guess it's kinda like having to pay for car insurance each month that you don't use, but it sure is nice to have when you NEED it right.  Well ..... these kids and future kids coming up NEED this.

BUT, Mrs. Isom was asked about her position on the bond, "The Nederland Independent School District’s Citizens Advisory Committee met for the final time Wednesday to discuss a presentation to the board for a potential bond issue. Isom said she hopes a bond will pass come May.

I understand your position about the bond proposal and you are certainly free to express that opposition here.  However, I would hope that in the future, you would avoid the half truth's (Mrs. Isom's views on the state of the district) and outright lies (asserting that the BCISD was having to "cut programs" due to a bond issue that was voted down) that you have attempted to resort to the last few days.

You said it was reported. Who reported it? What programs? You state BCISD is having financial issues and having to cut programs, implying that is something NISD will have to do.

lol,i don't know any of these guys writing on here,i could careless who plays qb,i wanna win,,blaysin can play anywhere,bryce cant,blaysin is a leader,bryce aint,blaysin is vocal and a motivator,bryce aint,he is shy,blaysin has big game experience,bryce doesn't,blaysin is aggressive and Bryce isn't,,Bryce throws a prettier ball,and a better arm,i don't hide anything,i tell them that to their face,i don't sugar coat anything,im not the dad that's gonna lie and say you played good when you sucked,ask em,i don't mind hurting feelings.Bottom line we can all sit in the stands and speculate why on Friday nights,but the coaches have a reason why they do things,they see them everyday at practice,if nederland was a pocket passing team then Bryce is better choice,but when has that been nederlands game plan,i can assure you seay and others weren't pocket passers,just not their thing..so bottom line I could careless what my boys do on Friday nights as long as we win and they have fun doing it,making memories with friends,in the big picture they only have a few games left in em and football will be over forever for them...so with that being said nobody really cares what anybody says,obviously your not playing or coaching in the NFL,so let the players enjoy their high school days with friends!!!

As far as field conditions, I don't think it will be like most are saying, that dry cool front air dries dirt out really fast.

Very excited about this freshman group! Also of note is that there are two huge freshman D-Linemen playing on Varsity already. I suspect the JV won’t be particularly strong with a ton of talented Sophs playing on the Varsity including the two headed monster at running back.

Before the start of the season I had Nederland finishing 3rd or 4th in this new district. Now I got them picked to finish 2nd...with BH, Dayton, and Vidor fighting for the 4th seed. 
I think Nederland wins this one in a close one.

#11 Fernandez for Nederland had 1864 passing yards & 24 passing td's in 2017 running the run 1st Nederland offensive scheme.  In 2016 #11 Fernandez was the QB hitting perkins on some of the deep balls. Also #11 is the same Nederland QB that used his passing ability to drive team down the field with several passess for the last passing td versus png & threw a perfect out route pass over png defender for the winning 2 pt conversion. Not sure why some think he's not a good passer,when stats & winning big games proves it.
