1. Didn't LM have a brawl with Ozen a few years back, too?
 2.

from what i heard LM left 14 points off the board. Closer game than i expected, i surely thought Navasota would blow them out.  :o
Navasota asking turned the ball over 4 times and left points on the board.  This game wasn't as close as the score indicates.
From my perspective it was EXACTLY as close as the score indicates. If not for a phantom holding call, the score would have been 31-27 midway through the 4th.

Daingerfield has the record with 10 right back in '83?
Daingerfield only gave up 6 points all season and that wasn't on their defense. They shut out every playoff opponent. I'm not sure exactly how many they had but I know it's well over 10.
It was more, 14, look at post #225
Yeah saw that after I had already posted, sorry.
 4.

Navasota so called great D just gave up 20 points to lamarque and if not for a turnover inside the 5 yard line it would have been at least 26!!!! So y'all can be scored on, it's been proven. So please don't throw your defense in the same league as ours and we won't throw our offense in the same league as yours! I believe this will be an extremely close game the entire night and that the game will come down to special teams and turnovers! This is why I believe wos wins this game. I give us an edge in the return game and in the turnover battle. Standing by my prediction of 17-14 stangs!
No one is claiming to be in the same league as WOS when it comes to defense.  However, when comparing offenses, I will give Navasota a huge edge.  Navasota's defense is good enough to get the job done... BTW, 2 of those LM touchdowns came on Rattler turnovers.
Can't believe a Navasota fan brought this up. Navasota scored off of one LM turnover. One botched punt snap. Scored one TD on a bad punt snap recovered in the endzone. LM had a crucial TD called back on a phantom holding call downfield and were not awarded a TD at the goal line when the LM QB appeared to be across the goal line (and they got no points out of it). Now, I'm a believer that good teams find ways to win, but don't try to make it sound like LM was handed anything... Sota definitely won the "gift" category.

 6.
Truth hurts, Reality bites and will settle in a week or so for the WOS following... I will leave it at that.  All year, Navasota hasn't played anyone... Navasota only passes... Navasota, this and Navasota that..  Navasota will lose to La Marque... La Marque will whip the floor with Navasota... La Marque 36 Navasota 21....  BLAH, BLAH, BLAH..etc...  Navasota goes up 24-6 on La Marque in the 3rd and chose to RUN.  Yes, RUN.  Navasota will be, I repeat, Navasota will be the best team that the Mustangs have seen.  I am not going to predict a blowout but Navasota will win and will do so convincingly.  And, there's no need to go back and forth all week...  We will make a believer out of WOS and the rest of the Golden Triangle.
That wasn't us... I said when the playoffs started that LM was going to exit when they ran up against Nav. Your not going to win a title with an offense like that, as good as their defense was they also had a tendency to be undiscipline. You can't play like that against a team like Navasota.
 7. LM scored 28 points against Columbia on defense in the 3rd qtr. Their offense scored 20 after the game was out of hand and the score was misleading. LM was one dimensional, WOS will not be. And it don't matter who scored what against who. This will be about how WOS and Navasota match up against one another.
 8. Just because our offense hasn't scored 100 points a game doesn't mean they can't play. I've seen LM twice and our offense is more diverse and better than LM's. if LM offense put up 20 I look for us to do that and then some unless we build 20-0 or 21-0 lead in the 3rd then you will probably see the running game only again. It's not lack of ability, it's philosophy... It's smart football.
 9. Leaving at 3 in an attempt to deal with the Houston traffic. Everyone PLEASE be safe traveling tonight!
Most of them did not make the playoffs as well.
. Actually, 2 made the playoffs and 2 didnt
 11. I thought their offensive line was their Achilles heel????
 12.
Pulling for WOS but the state championship will be played this  Friday in Shenendoah.
LM is not world beaters just because they beat your team... The championship will be the championship. And LM exits this weekend.
 13. CCS wins 54-6. Game called with 6 min left in 3rd due to 45 point rule
 14.

Sorry CS fans but this IS NOT the CS of the last couple of years.
Perhaps not. But this is LaMarque. They were a very accomplished 4a team.
I agree with that, but LM isn't great on offense. They would not have had the success they had against last years defense. And there were a couple of runs tonight from CS backs for 10-15 yards where Gilbert would have been gone.
 15. Sorry CS fans but this IS NOT the CS of the last couple of years.
 16.
Ozen transfer will not play until ALL UIL t's and I's are crossed and dotted. And I mean double crossed and dotted. We won't forfiet anything over one person no matter how good they are. We haven't made it this far with scrubs. We'll be fine. Not saying he is a scryb because I believe differently but we have made it 11-0 with 7 shut outs with our current roster.
I agree!  ;)
 17. Let me guess... La Marque is number 1... ???
 18. Actully, the final was 77-43.
 19. I stole this from another board, but it represents my sentiments regarding some of the comments made here toward Skip. This guy said it better than I could have... "No matter how good you are, or think you are, you can never take winning for granted. Witness tonight - Baylor, the first team with a losing record at the time of the game to take out a #1 teams in NCAA history. The same Baylor that we all know has NO DEFENSE. Stanford holds Oregon to only 14 points and wins in overtime 17-14. This is the Oregon that has dominated the west coast teams and put up a lot of points all year. My real message to the Navasota's, Stephenville's, West Orange Stark's, Carthage's, LaMarque's and all the other teams still in the playoffs---A true champion plays every down of every game like they are the underdog. It is alright to be confident if you back it up with the way you play. Being cocky is believing that you can't be beat. There are a lot of teams that have players with special skills, but only a few that get the most out of every player on the team. Practice with pride, play with pride, but win or lose with class." ...and to add to it... We as WOS fans have witnessed our own "Baylor vs K-States": 1990 #1 WO-S (10-0) loses to CE King (4-6) in the first round 1998 #1 WO-S (10-0) loses to Silsbee (6-4) in the first round. A team we had shut out earlier in the season. Everybody has their own opinions, but respect should never be confused with a lack of confidence... Those who think it is don't really understand one or the other... JMO

We should beat West Columbia if we play to our capabilities...our run defense is great..the kids will do alright. As far as Chris Smith, yes I also heard he will be eligible to play this week. These kids are all business I don't think they will overlook anyone this year. Go Stangs. Saying right here, right now...Navasota won't be in the region final IMO.
His name is Chris James and its not a definate if he will be able to play in this game either.
In fact, what I'm hearing is it's almost a certainty he WILL NOT play this week.
