Where is parking at Nederland Stadium? Other than the two rows by the gate. Are there any parking lots anywhere around the stadium?

I parked on the roadside of a side street, about 2 blocks away, not too bad. It's been a while since I attended a varsity game there.

I've always enjoyed playing the Bulldogs.  With them you can win 40-0 or whatever, and still feel like you've been in a close game.

Ok I am going to nerd out on you here.

    In 1925, 1926, 1927, 1928, 1929, and 1930. PNG and Nederland played 2 times each season.

In 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952, and 1953 PNG vs Ned did not play.

    In 1927, 1930, 1940, 1943, 1965, 1968, and 1987 where all ties.

    Largest margin of victory's

    PNG 1947 won 71-0 PNG finishes 11-1

Ned 2001 won 42-10    That year Nederland made it to play Smithson Valley in the State Semi-finals losing 38-14

PNG has been to 7 State Championships and won 3

Nederland has been to 3 State Championships and won 1 State Championship.

PNG has been to the semi-finals 9 times.

Nederland has been to the semi-finals 3 times.

PNG has reached the quarter-finals 11 times

Nederland has been to the quarter-finals 11 times

PNG has been district champs 27 times

Nederland has been district champs 25 times.

PNG has played in 90 playoff games

Ned has played in 88 Playoff games

    PNG football record is 633-361-33

    Nederland football record is 585-399-35

    Overall MCM record is 53-38-7

1st game of MCM was in 1925 100th game in 2023.

    PNG has won 8 decades

    Nederland has won 3 decades.

45 games have been 7 points or less margin of victory.

25 games have been 3 points or less.

    7 times have been ties.

My apologies for nerding out. Good luck both teams I hope we have a safe game. I am sure it will be entertaining.

Re the 1947, 71-0 game, I've heard about it many times from my father-in-law.  PNG kicked off to start the game, my FIL hit the Ned runner, who fumbled.  PNG covered the fumble, then scored, and went on to win 71-0.  PNG starters laid down on the sidelines for almost the entire 4th Qtr.

The '47-'48 team(s) lost only 1 game in 2 seasons, to Lake Charles (in Lake Charles), which was a farce, officiating-wise. My FIL is 93 years old now, and still talks about it.

  3. Just based on the numbers, this game should be a bench-clearing shutout for PNG. I expect the game to be similar to the Willow Ridge game, however, for the observers, with pretty much plain vanilla play calling. Don't ever take any high school game for granted, but it would be handy if SF runs similar defense and offense as Nederland for us.

  4. Last season's Dayton team may have been a bit stronger than this year's team. They have three tough games ahead of them, including Willow Ridge, regardless of the current WR district W-L record. I'm discounting the homecoming factor, though. I'll say this, though, the Dayton QB has a good arm and throws a pretty pass. When throwing on the run he loses more than a little oomph; and in the 2nd half he (and his coach) was trying to force things, understandably.

Anyway, it's always a good game, PNG and Dayton. My only complaint I think, was the length and slow speed of the concession stand line on the visitor side.

What is up with our Center

Should read, "centers". There are several doing long snaps pre-game, every game, with Coach J. watching. I watch because one of them is mine; but anyway there still isn't any great consistency with any of them. Everyone holds their breath with each snap, and maybe that's just how it's going to be, this season. Or maybe not; maybe things will all eventually "snap" in place.

JAX in Liberty across from court house best hamburgers in the county-

I plan to try that sometime.  BTW, driving through Liberty, a place called Tiger Harry's looked like it was packed; the parking lot was full.  If I'm not mistaken the building used to be a fish market type place, with a sign across the top that listed gar, buffalo, choupique, raccoon, etc., maybe even possum. Now the sign lists fish, steaks, chicken, and boudin. We'll have to try this place sometime as well.

the refs told the WR band to stop playing. ......interesting....let them try it with PAM lol

Yep. He told them not to play and they immediately stopped until the next play was over, then they cranked up again. Then he went to the sideline and then to the bleachers and spoke to the bandleader, and they didn't play again until the game ended if I recall right.

He didn't throw a flag though, for band interference, like a ref did last season in one of the playoff games.

  8. Definitely an off day for the Indians yesterday. I think they left a lot of intensity on the field after FBM, and some more in Texas City, and then have a Saturday 1pm game on the road, and they were pretty laid back, relaxed, and mostly flat, against a charged up WR team. Dropped passes, missed tackles, missed blocks, high snaps, missed coverage, motion penalties, misc other 15 yard penalties, and still scored 38, while allowing 20. Plus the band left for UIL competition immediately after what appeared to be a shortened halftime. Then in the 4th qtr near the end of the game, the refs told the WR band to stop playing. The quiet in the stadium was sort of weird, actually. All around, it was a weird game, and like someone else already said, it oddly seemed more like a practice than it did a game. I sent my usual after-game text to my grandson, and all his reply said was "the coaches are not too happy".

Uh oh, practice, here we come, is what comes to my mind. Hopefully they will take it all out on Dayton next Friday.
