No worries, probably. Just saying that a couple or 3 of Shepherd's linemen looked pretty athletic, based on what little I've seen in the video clips. #88, if I recall right, along with the right tackle, were opening up some holes, in their loss to whoever they were playing, I can't recall now. Anyway ...

Beaumont West Brook vs Port Arthur Memorial Titans

Back ~ 10 years ago when I lived in Plantation (on Cotton Bayou) 5 of the 6 neighbors on our street moved there from North Shore. But I don't doubt the Baytown angle at all. Everyone used to say that the Barber's Hill area was to be the next Katy. What I do know is that the Chambers County taxes (Mont Belvieu) were much less than the Harris County (Baytown) taxes. But also from what I hear, the Barbers Hill school taxes have really been catching up quickly these days. -
Week 8 Texan Live Broadcasts (coverage area teams) Oct. 17-19

WOS vs Shepherd isn't broadcast anywhere? -
WOS, but their D line had better be on their toes.

That makes sense, if Huntsville wasn't ranked above Brenham the previous week. I can't recall, but no matter.

Just shooting from the hip here, but a week or so ago in 5A DII I seem to recall that Huntsville was ranked 8th or 9th. They played #1 PNG a very close game, and then defeated a ranked Montgomery team the following week. And so now they aren't ranked in the top 10?

My first guess was going to be H-F, just based on conversations with friends that have kids attending H-F. -
Barbers Hill (17) @ Port Arthur Memorial (20) - FINAL

I lived there from 2000 - 2015, and didn't really have a dog in the fight, so I didn't follow the football too closely, but I recall that BH moved up rather quickly from 3A I think, to 4A, to 5A. The head coach and other coaches and trainer, had been there a while, and always seemed just a game away from going to state. Then the HC got fired, more or less, others moved on, retired, or passed away (I knew one coach personally, who lost a hard fought battle with cancer). The area has really grown very rapidly, and I'm not sure what old traditions are still there, just looking from a distance. -

Sounds like great game, this one. -
I've asked that same question on the PNG forum. I don't recall any replies, so I guess not.

I'm a bit surprised at this score, but ok with it. Huntsville D line still playing pretty good.

Good close game. Both teams looked like they were sucking it up there in the last 5 minutes. They played some tough ball. -

I wouldn't have called PI on that last pass. Anyway, incredible end to the 1st half. -
+1 Always interesting to listen to what good coaches have to say, and particularly, how they say it.
-
Yeah, I'd say that the Bulldogs had better keep their pads and helmets on, their eyes open, and their minds on this game at hand. (And the same goes for PNG and their homecoming game as well. )

Port Neches-Groves (24) @ Huntsville (21) - FINAL

Ca. 1968 or '69, I was on the sideline and said something about the other team's luck after they covered our fumble, and Coach Mo O'Brien very quickly spun around to face me and said, "you make your own luck, son". (If you're of PNG lineage then you likely know who Coach O'Brien was.) Anyway, since everyone has their own opinions, then I have mine also, and when the first half ended I said out loud that PNG should win this going away, regardless of the outstanding play of Huntsville's D line. In the 2nd half, PNG appeared almost intent to give the game away, (with the help of the refs), but they won it anyway. This is my last comment on this one. I hope that Huntsville will bounce right back against Montgomery and MLC.
