Winning programs BUILD better athletes and UTILIZE their talent better. That is why they win. Coach Hooks at West Orange and Coach Barbay at Newton are both masters at this. For years I have heard about how Newton year after year "has" better athletes than their competition and implies that they are naturally so. The reason is not "breeding" or genetics. It's in the program that the athletes Newton has are put through. I think West Orange has the same work ethic for their program. Other districts could learn from these two programs. Very well said!!! An athlete will be an athlete no matter what program he is in, but a PROGRAM will make the athlete a better athlete.

1. My youth baseball teams were the astros, the Cubs, and the astros again. 2. I'm a RANGERS and Cubs fan. I hate the astros!!! 3. I've hung out with Mickey Hatcher a few times, after games, and loved all of his stories. 4. This is not true. If you are talking about track I would want athletic over fundamentally sound. Athletic means speed. I don't care how good your start is if you are slow. Fundamentally sound will get your butt beat on the track against speed.

I haven't seen Gilmer play but I have seen WOS. They have a fast/quick defense that swarms to the ball carrier. I hear that Gilmer has a very explosive offense. You know what they say, offense sells tickets, but defense wins championships. Should be a great game. Good luck to both teams!!!
