Yeah, in mid-December after our 31st game in two years. I was disappointed we didn’t get to play for back to back state title either. Lol, according to your theory the whole Houston/Golden Triangle region all the way up to Texarkana is “finesse” since we cleaned it out twice. The field was trash dude. Bringing up a team y’all are t even in the same hemisphere with doesn’t change that.

Kinda like crosby is not in the same hemisphere as the true elite title WINNERS in 5A??

Huffman finissed a 13-7 win over that smashmouth arse last year.

Why are still posting???  Your mancard was revoked....Oh wait this is probably your significant other posting since your b-a-double l's are in her purse.

Maybe in Vidor jumping over a kids’ head is a highlight reel. We call it a QB avoiding unnecessary contact. Our QBs don’t run the slot-T, they’re not expected to look like the offensive linemen after the game is over.

Lol, I’m glad you could watch us since your team wasn’t playing. I loved beating them year before and watching my son’s team play for a state championship too. It’s something I’ll never forget. Just like I’ll never forget watching my son start that semifinal game you found so funny after coming off a broken leg.

By the way, I would absolutely love for you to be laughing at us in a semifinal game this year too.

Unnecessary contact.... jumping over the pile head first into an oncoming defense?!?  Or maybe he was jumping rear end first....hmmm.  Can't say anymore or I'll get in trouble...keeping it PG.

Yep. He didn’t get hurt when he did it against WOS earlier that year on our field. He slipped in the mud because of the huge crown on Vidor’s field.

Remember the field was so bad that year that BH didn’t even want their band to march on it? Remember the fallout after the pics of parents picking up shoes stuck in the field were posted and their administration got heat for making condescending comments about Vidor’s stadium? I know y’all have it fixed now but starting in middle school that’s was the worst field I’ve seen Crosby kids have to play on.

Leave your feet and deal with the consequences.  It's FOOTBALL....NOT always a pretty game.  I know the high and mighty Crosby Cougars are a finesse team that does not like to get down-n-dirty but us Vidorians...well we are not scared to play in the mud or have our band march in the mud.

You're so southeast Texas.  Let me guess, you drink natty light, divorced twice and still push mow your yard?  Don't take it personal, Pirate.  Turf is just my preference just like grass is yours.

    Damn right I'm SETX!

Almost got me figured out except for.... Never been much of a drinker except for the occasional margarita at a restaurant or a bourbon at the ranch, married with 1 daughter, and from time to time I will push mow my yard for a little extra exercise (I'm not afraid of the grass).

Hope you don't make your living profiling people.

If that are the case, EVERY NFL team would have natural grass. They would spend the money on the grass to protect their million dollar investments in players.  Money talks…

    NRG, Minute Maid…grass 😉

Dr. Lintner is affiliated with Houston sports teams, and both professional teams Minute Maid and NRG are grass surfaces.

For the record, I hate that conditions (inclement weather / grass / mud / wet ) contribute to a teams ability to be more successful than their opponent.   I know for the common man, southeast Texan, because grandpa played on grass in the 20's, we should all play on grass. Bull Bologna !!!  There's a reason why the state game is played in Arlington on TURF.  The kids earned that right because thats the best we can offer them.  Grass is dirty and slows the game down....the end

I can't laugh at this enough...LOLOLOLOLOL! Guess I was lucky cause I played on grass and turf in the middle to late 90's.  Grass is dirty...seriously?!?  Sounds like you're the type of guy who wears gloves to eat crawfish and can't change a flat tire!!

Turf is the only reason they play in Arlington....Attendance has nothing to do with it and Jerry Jones being the Billionaire that he is wants all football in Arlington...smh

No playing surface beats a well-maintained grass field. The issue is that not many high school fields in Texas are well maintained due to weather, frequent usage and budgets. In 2018 I believe Crosby was ranked #2 in the state when we went to go play in Vidor's parabolic mud pit. It was one of the best handful of teams I've ever seen at Crosby but we only had one serviceable QB in Jaiden Howard. At the end of the first quarter Howard jumped over a Vidor defender's head, landed on his feet but in the mud and tore his ACL. Crosby lost 4 of our last 5 games and missed the playoffs for the only time in the last 17 years. Vidor's grass field literally took out our starting QB and ruined our season that year.

In 2015 I felt like Crosby had a state final caliber team. A big reason for that was because of our starting RB at the time which was Carlos Grace. Grace was instrumental the year before as a sophomore in our playoff run and was looking borderline unstoppable behind the o-line we had at the time. The second game of the season he had 5 carries for 99 yards in the first quarter against Angleton. On his first carry of the 2nd quarter his foot got stuck in the turf on a basic cut and he tore his ACL.

Two different scenarios that ended up with the same result. I do feel like the new turf surfaces are the best for all parties involved though. It sucks to say but I think you go ahead and risk the injuries in hopes of having a more consistent playing surface throughout the year.

You know without a shadow of a doubt, 110% positive that jumping in mud caused his injury?  Could have jumping on a dry field, turf caused the injury to???

Adapt and overcome obstacles... poor playing conditions.  Football is a battle, war for 48 minutes.

I’d imagine the grass at those stadiums is maintained a lot better than high school stadiums to be fair

The poster did not specify if that was meant only for Liberty stadium or that was for all grass stadiums...🤷‍♂️ Yes, I know this is a high school forum

I can't even stand the thought of watching a football game on grass and yet, we REFUSE to get TURF here in Liberty.

Why can't you stand the thought?  Grass is good enough for professional teams like Green Bay, Pittsburg, San Fran., Chicago, and a few others.

There are studies both ways regarding injuries.

With HJ’s stadium being in a low-lying area, the durability of turf in wet weather plays a huge part of going that route. It’s a big deal also that football, soccer, band, dance team, and other groups all get to actually practice on the performance field since they won’t be rutting it up.  Frees up other practice fields for middle school and sub-varsity teams.

I spoke with Dr. David Lintner and got his thoughts on turf vs grass.  If not familiar with Dr. Lintner...Google.  He said in his practice he sees more serious injuries from artificial playing surfaces than from grass.  Grass gives and eventually breaks away with enough force/pressure.  Turf gives but not to a breaking point.

Again, this is coming from a Dr. with a few years under his belt.

Call me old fashioned but I like watching and played on grass fields. Is grass fields going the way of the dodo? Just an opinion. Is it all about money and recruiting?

I'm all for grass fields.  Less injuries but more upkeep.  I'd take less injuries over more upkeep but thats just me.

The Alabama Raw Dogs select team has won (11) 18 year old division Babe Ruth World Series Tournament championships from  2000 to 2021. Plus 1 more World Series championship in 1997.

Mid County Babe Ruth League All Star team has won 1 World Series Championship in 2017

Cool... not bad stats for AL.... for a few of the kids on mid-county this is just another opportunity to play together before college ball starts.

Oh I’m sure they rotate, just didn’t think Bama would be in this region! They didn’t come here last year!

Its tough to fill a team... summer vacations, kids leaving for college, not willing to travel over a certain distance, etc.

If Mid-County makes it past regional... I think 3, 4 kids would not be able to play the world series in Washington due to them leaving for college.

Alabama 18’s which is the Alabama Raw Dogs select organization travel team & not a Babe Ruth League All Star team will probably be the toughest team Mid County will face. Plus the Raw Dogs organization leaders will be hosting & running the tournament in their back yard. Usually  very arrogant & disrespectful team from top to bottom. Was a lot of fun beating those Jack legs twice & run ruling them back in 2017 winning the regional in Dumas, Tx & then the World Series. Hope you guys beat them this year, so i can talk some smack on their social media pages😎

Going to give it our best shot.  Got a decent amount of arms to throw and a little pop in the lineup.

It's literally the perfect example of capitalism. The app the tech nerd creates is only as valuable as the purchaser deems it to be. One purchaser may be willing to pay $1M for the app, the next purchaser might think there are equivalent apps and only be willing to pay $1k for it. Prime example is the old My Space platform. It was sold for $580M in 2005 and I'm sure the buyer thought they would get a huge return. It just sold for $35M a few weeks ago. The original buyer took a risk just like someone would purchasing any other stock without a guaranteed rate of return, even if that stock has performed in previous years.

It's the same for NIL deals. Kids are only getting them because of proven performance in the past. If someone deems that past performance is worth taking a gamble on a kids' future performance they're now allowed to do so at whatever cost they see fit. NIL isn't supposed to be tied to performance anyway(even though we know it is), it can simply be for social media influence. There's a gymnast at LSU who has NIL deals worth about $1M and it's not because she's the next Simone Biles, it's because she looks good. In a free market you can spend your money however you see fit.

Perfect example...far from it.  You're comparing a product that has been researched, tested, and tried for countless hours against a product (student athlete) that for most of their career has played against inferior competition...the exception being the big powerhouse 5A/6A schools and private schools (IMG, Mater Dei, etc.).  The decision makers that are deciding to purchase apps from these "tech nerds" have done their research, compared the app against all other apps before making the decision to buy.  When you decide to endorse, buy an athlete you're paying in hopes that athlete can make the transition from high school to college, hoping that the athlete does slip up along the way... make a stupid social media post, get caught with drugs, underage drinking, etc.  IF the app slips ups... no harm no foul.  Fix the the glitch, provide app updates, rewrite software to keep up with changing times.  You can rewrite a player.

Don't try to lecture me on a free market.  Everyone of us that has a smartphone, tablet, computer are all a few clicks away from making purchases....for JUST about anything.

Archie Manning, one of the most sought-after recruits to come along, ranked #1 in his class committed to the richest athletic program in the Nation(UT).

How can/could you have such an opinion? 🤣

I don't have an issue with NILS because they been going on  since NCAA sports first started. Whether it be Publicly or behind closed doors. 🤔 😉 😜 😘

Ever watched the documentaries about Marcus Dupree or the one about Thunder&Lighting at SMU?

Time will tell on Manning.  Has not competed against the best in high school. Has not competed in Elite 11 camps.  BUT has the pedigree and I'm sure his uncles have taught him a thing or two.

I AM NOT A UT FAN....but I do like his commitment to UT. He'll have to prove himself and compete against another former #1 overall QB commit.

And again, I'll stand by my opinion that NIL deals should be capped and or go through the university with stipulations.
