Briles is a pos so we can exclude him from the conversation. But yes it matters when a coach gets to a program. Some classes are more talented than others. If Surratt is at Crosby these last two years maybe they do win. If he is at Crosby in 2000 then no I dont think they win as quickly.

Families are seeking out Aledo. Aledo is not out seeking out families. Personally I wish they never sold the Walsh ranch and never started all the housing developments these last last 15 years.

I definitely disagree with that. Personal preference but quality of living is much higher in Aledo. Not being in a big city with a bunch of different high schools, rangers ball park, cowboys stadium, 6 flags, waterpark, ect and all that traffic. Plus you have a much better chance of team success at Aledo than Martin regarding football. Parents want there kids in a great academic school and a sports program that is going to make a deep playoff run. Aledo doesnt need to recruit. Our situation is attractive for people considering moving to the Fort Worth area.

What do you mean "theres no more benefit"? That part has me confused.

I'm not interested in talking about the race of high school kids. What I will point out is the mutual benefit for the families and programs when talented kids move in to play sports.

Aledo is an attractive option for people that are moving to the Fort Worth area. Parents are willing to drive 45+ minutes to work so their kids can go to Aledo instead of living in Fort Worth.

Fair points. But R2 is going to be tough depending on the draw. It will be plenty of competition for yall.

Longview is better than all those region 2 teams you named. Lufkin has the name but they are not a top tier program at the moment. They are 29-15 in the last 4 seasons, 10-11 in the last 2. Lonestar lost their stud QB so lets see how they do. Timeberview is going to be a really tough out. And Lancaster has not produced in the playoffs lately. They have made it past the 2nd round once in the last 4 seasons. Frisco high is going to be a team to keep an out for. They run a wing-t or slot-t type offense. Liberty Hill-ish but better athletes but they are not as precise.

Na, Aledo was D1 last time but since schools opted up we got pushed down. If anyone opts up I think Crosby goes D2.

Has the time for opting up finished? Because Crosby is literally the smallest school in 5AD1. If teams opt up they will get pushed down. Barbers Hill is not far behind them either if I remember correctly.

Oddly enough I think LH expected the need to kick the onside and be unconventional but they didnt need to. LH played their game and it worked. They got in their own way when they were trying to do "extra". Simple execution on the field goal tries and things like that would have gone a long way to help them win the game.

LH did much better on defense than I thought they would do. They did not let SOC really get a rhythm most of the game. LH battled and were doing really well. Couple bad breaks down the stretch that made the difference but LH played tough. They did not backdown and took it to SOC.

All things considered I think the SOC defense did the best they could do. I did not see a lot of errors by SOC. I saw a lot of execution by LH.

Since the SOC/LH kinda died down, how do yall think an Aledo/Crosby game would have turned out?
