Alot of teams that are In bigger classifications wont play smaller classification teams due to the fact of possibly losing and job getting talked about losing. Just because your a 6A school doesn't always mean your better than a 4A or 3A school....that's why.....JMO

Spoke to a reliable source earlier in the week and it's almost 90% certain that school is over for the year...Almost all Superintendents are focusing on showing the State of Texas education board of trustees that the students are still working to receive there financial stipends for there schools for nextyear and that's the biggest picture on hand right now....$,$$$,$$$

You can look for it to happen in the near future with more kids whether it be a sibling or a parent...Prep Schools do it all the time...they hire the Dad of a kid who's a possible lottery pick to Coach knowing hes bringing his son there and possibly bring an AAU teammate or two that can help the program win games since most of the private prep schools now have on campus living. I expect Houston to be doing it soon in Katy at the school called the Village...the Headcoach came from one of the perennial powerhouses and the resources he has is unlimited for himself and he has the son of a Hall of Famer there starting Highschool as well as one just Graduating and he himself likes to be in the gym with the kids himself because of the love of the game....The Dream...only know because I've seen it...worked a camp there this past summer....

I say different...I believe it may be Henry as he has more to assist to coming back...PG is hard to justify cause hes more of a scorer than facilitator speaking of abrahm but if you say floor general than you may be correct. Those are two different players PG vs Floor General.

Add United  to this conversation.  We return probably the beat returning player in the area, 6'5" Arceneaux as a Junior and the two freshmen in our team that year gets lot of playing time.  Ome has been starting.   They'll  be sophomores next year (6'5" Porchia  and 6'4" Yates).

Isn’t it amazing when a player gets the ball in the backcourt and dribbles it hard up the sideline with a defender on his hip but all the while he’s flailing his head violently in the opposite direction as if the defender were punching him with steady right hooks it’s almost as if there were a second shooter firing at him from the grassy knoll when you see the head snap back and to the left then on about the fourth or fifth imaginary slap from the heavens he gets a foul call and gets to shoot free throws because the guy on defense was obviously using the force to cause his head to jerk back and give him whiplash I’m so glad these boys have the referees out there to protect them from these thugs and bullies who actually move their feet to stay in front of their man in a blatant attempt the deter the offensive threat when it’s 40 ft from the basket.
I think it’s amazing, the best play in basketball.

Great answers and explanations. Like I tell all my friends, if you haven’t been in a high school from 4-6A in the past twenty years, and by in a high school , I mean sit in the library or a classroom all day (not feasible for most but more accurate than the five word explanation of school your teenager gives you while focusing on their phone) you’ll be shocked. Again, the school is a reflection of society, so hangout all day at Walmart and watch people and their actions for more shock value. The most disappointing thing is the lack of accountability by students, teachers, administrators, and schools. About ten years or more, schools (where I worked at least) stopped sending kids who would verbally assault teachers to the local judge who would fine the parents ( finally make them be parents by $). The county just said, no, we’re too busy. The really bad ones can really get away with being IDIOTS, yet they’re often untouchable because of their 501 plan.  Kids know exactly what they can get away with ( just like us in the 70’s). There are still great kids, parents, teachers, administrators, and schools, but not as many. But I am excited to get back in it, definitely takes a special (demented maybe😏) to do it.

Hit the nail on the head. Lots of teachers in my family.
Also, I might add, the common belief that teachers or coaches are off-work when the kids aren't in school is way off base. The state keeps adding more and more and more paperwork, trainings, etc. There are enough mandatory trainings now that the state apparently expects teachers to also be doctors, lawyers, psychiatrists, etc.  One thing that is difficult to gauge is how long a teacher should work to earn that salary. A lot of administrators don't hold the teachers very accountable, so it would be easy to treat it like a 9 to 5 (or 8 to 4) job. But a good teacher - let alone a good coach - puts in a lot more than that. You would NOT want to pay them hourly. The insurance is bad but, combined with salaries rarely making a real jump (this year was an exception) teachers in this area in particular have no real raise in take-home pay more often than not.
Why does discipline stink? Mommies that don't believe Johnny's crap stinks. Administrators that don't want to deal with mommy. AND..... the state has begun to decide what is an acceptable discipline rate. Not sure now, but at one point they were essentially giving quotas that you can only have a certain number of kids disciplined in in-school-suspension or otherwise. So are you gonna send a kid for screaming obscenities in the hall? Or do you save that spot for a kid that vapes in the bathroom? Or threatens a teacher? Plus some kids are deemed not responsible for their actions due to disabilities and such - regardless of what it does to teachers and students.
Academically - the state is currently judging progress more by whether the kids are graduating than anything. So a kid that doesn't get a diploma means the school failed. Doesn't matter whether Johnny can spell or if Johnny simply refuses to learn how to spell. Standardized testing should prevent that - except they keep adding loopholes around that also.
Additionally, the politics can be insane. There are very few schools that do anything like merit pay to begin with and the internal politics mean that might be irrelevant anyway. Also goes for discipline. Some kids get hammered for certain things. Other kids walk for the same reason. Sometimes simply because the people in charge like that kid.
So, to recap, beyond low salary (combined with insane insurance hikes), no discipline, low academic standards, expanded school year and out of school time requirements, politics and more. Gee, why might there be a shortage of teachers? The crazy thing is the state talks about being concerned about teacher shortages, yet they are making the job more difficult and unpleasant. A lot of coaches are flocking to the refineries - not because they don't enjoy coaching and the kids, but because the situation is so much better.
Most parents, I believe, are good parents that want the best for their kids and all the kids. I don't think they realize how messed up things are. The bottom of the barrel parents and kids are ruining it for everyone. Things will get better when the good parents realize the corrosion of standards are hurting everyone and they start demanding that their kids be taken more into account than the bad ones.
