My District Picks (coverage area districts)
Tyerman replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
My predictions on the districts I know the most about: 21-3A 1. Pollok Central DI 2. Central Heights DII 3. Diboll DI 4. Woodville DII 22-3A (I agree with you here but can see some tiebreaker scenarios with Orangefield/EC as easily can flip both of them) 1. Kountze DII 2. East Chambers DII 3. Orangefield DI 4. Anahuac DI 23-3A (Toughest part on this district is 5 out of 6 coaches are brand new to the schools/districts, Anderson-Shiro in mix as well for 4 seed as they return a ton including best player. New Waverly had a couple of kids move out of district from what I have heard that were good players including their leading scorer. I predict District MVP will be Devon Vienneau for Onalaska.) 1. Onalaska DII 2. Crockett DI 3. Coldspring DI 4. Trinity DII -
Was a really good event. Lots of teams look really good

[Hidden Content] Exciting event coming soon that many high school programs will be participating in. For many the last preseason tune up as a team without their coaches
-
Split Divisions will be very interesting to predict who goes big and small. 3A Guess for the area coverage teams: Division 1 likely top playoff teams (which will include Hitchcock early rounds, Mexia later rounds) not in order: Orangefield, Crockett, Central (they could go small but likely big based on teams in district), Anahuac, Coldspring Division 2 likely top playoff teams (includes Westwood, Franklin later in path): Central Heights, East Chambers, Kountze, Onalaska

Onalaska [Hidden Content] -
Onalaska went 2-4 for opening week. Defeating Leggett and Hempstead.

Onalaska didn’t get the wins but it for sure showed a ton of positives of what is to come especially with when the full roster is together. After graduating 70% of the offensive scoring it was nice to see a lot of players ready to step up and while missing one starter. Onalaska 50 Van Alystne 58 Cardiac Cats traded leads back & forth until the end and fell short this game. D. Vienneau 19 B. Topkins 18 W. Reyes 4 D. Leleux 4 J. Pinkert 3 S. Green 2 Onalaska 47 Graford 57 D. Vienneau 15 D.Leleux 12 B. Topkins 10 W. Reyes 4 S. Green 3 D. Jennings 3 Wins maybe weren’t there this weekend but they will be in the mix with split divisions and will likely win the district championship this upcoming year.

Yes that was a great game. Lots of runs and fun to watch. The defense and Sells really helped seal that win.
-
Onalaska 64 Faith Academy Marble Falls 69 Cardiac Cats fall short in game 1 of TABC Showcase with a back & forth battle that came down to the wire. D. Leleux 13 D. Vienneau 17 B. Topkins 14 W. Reyes 11 K. Deal 8 S. Green 2 The 3 headed monster of Vienneau, Leleux and Topkins is going to give people problems. Vienneau is back after missing his sophomore season and brings a whole new level of guard play. Give Faith Acadmey credit they went 23/25 from ft line and their 6’10 post is tough to keep off the boards.

A lot of coaches are sharing rosters on social media as well.
-
The college coaches packets has rosters and I know ballertv has now sent requests out for the coaches to fill out or the kids to fill out depending on how the coach wants to handle it.
-
Lots of teams from the area competing this upcoming weekend in DFW for the TABC Showcase. Some really great matchups too if teams have everyone. I linked a few of the links for schedules for some of the coverage area teams that I tend to follow and pay attention to. [Hidden Content] (Unique and fun matchups for Onalaska here. Marble Falls Faith Academy has some size with a 6'9 post who seems like a solid player. Van Alstyne is always a solid 4A who has some good size guards. Graford is always a good 1A program with a Hall of Fame coach.) [Hidden Content] (I really think Kountze got some great games with Chapel Hill and Madison) (Also like all the games that Hitchcock got as those should be top notch with Chapel Hill, Westwood and Madison) [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] (Kind of a bum deal for Orangefield to get matched up with Liberty who is in their normal area of play as would like to see more variety of opponents I am sure. They have been playing well and will still do good) [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]
