I have heard shepherd and Splendora might reschedule to play Saturday at 3pm due to shepherd football game tonight. Don’t know for sure though.

Onalaska hosted Leggett and Dayton. Each team played 2 regulation quarters against each other to simulate 1 game. I don’t know the Leggett and Dayton score off top of my head as I left their papers at work. Onalaska scores were as follows for varsity. Appreciate kind words but to be honest Neither team had their full rosters playing in that game. District 23-3A will be very competitive and close. 6 teams out of the 8 legitimately could secure playoff spots based on what’s returning. Lots of new head coaches as well which could mix some things up. Saturday the GASO fall shootout in MI3 will give people a lot of looks at lots of programs in the area.

I wanted to give high praise to the Lofton family for this camp. I took my son and his friend today to this camp. The entire camp staff and family worked really hard all day. Great work on the basketball side of things done. The overall camp environment was awesome as well. Our state is blessed to have great role models of a player and his family like this. Beyond remarkable. I don’t know them at all but everything today was amazing for those kids. That community is very lucky to have a family like them.

Onalaska went 2-1 in the showcase. lost to Maypearl 44-43 in sudden death overtime. defeated Saint Mary’s Hall 61-34 defeated Scurry-Rosser 61-58 Huntington went 2-1 as well. defeated Saint Mary’s hall 41-28 lost to scurry-rosser 54-35 defeated Austin Hyde park 43-30 Crockett went 1-2 Lost to Childress 52-41 lost to Gunter 31-27 beat Lipan 45-34 seems like most teams are missing a few guys to baseball and vacations. Really good event. Some good basketball and most matchups seemed pretty even.

Correct the preseason rankings are all off coaches input, the hoopinsider guy and a lot of what people did the previous year.

The game itself wasn’t bad. Hitchcock made a lot of great shots and New Waverly struggled on their jump shooting. Both played good defense, just one team was just better at contested shooting that day.

I have only seen the 3A region teams and I think New Waverly wins their semifinal and I predict a very close game with Hitchcock but their size giving Hitchcock issues. New Waverly wins Region.
