  1. Snjpes, you are right. We will never know.I am more concerned why the distance runners points were taken away in every event he participated in and the same logic was not applied to James. If you use the same logic, all three relay teams should have been DQ.The distance runner lost 2 points in two different races. The relay teams should have lost 60 points.
  2. I don't think just eliminating the one relay team has enough teeth.OZEN would not have won the 1600 with out James in it.If the only consequence is to have that team eliminated if caught, sounds like a pretty good gamble to do it and cheat your way to a District championship if not caught. The rule book states that" places" shall be taken away if this type of violation happens.Don't know how an "s" can be at the end of place and only DQ one relay team !P.S.OZEN also ran a distance guy in to many events.Only cost them 4 points when discovered.
  3. OZEN had a distance guy run 3 events when your only allowed 2.That was the adjustment of a 6 point victory to a 2 point victory for OZEN before the 1600 meter relay violation was discovered. One has to wonder how many of these mistakes are made and never discovered.
  4. Found out 30 min. rule does not apply in this situation.Honest Abe if Ozen is caught trying to cover up a mistake I could possibly see someone getting fired. What are the odds that James would be interviewed after the fourth race.Talk about getting caught with your hand in the "Cookie Jar".If they are caught in a "Cover-Up",I would hate to see what the UIL might do after Ozen's other problems this season.Best bet is to tell the truth if a mistake was made.
  5. Mr Ump1,I appreciate your insight. The over ruling of the pulled foot opened my eyes to what went on the rest of the game. The first base umpire was right on top of the call. The coach came out to argue the call and the first base umpire went to the home plate umpire for back up and the home plate umpire left him out to dry by reversing a call his partner was right on top of.Mr Ump I know you know this does not happen to often because Umps usually catch each others backs.I am not saying we would have won the game with different calls but the calls that were made sure did not help things. From my experience when a young umpire over rules his partner he is either a ego maniac or someone with a agenda.P.S. I am very impressed with the Livingston Lions and wish the best of luck to you guys in the play-offs.Just hope we get a cleaner game called next year.
  6. Man Up did you hear me complain about calls in the Vidor and PNG losses? That bust out inning Livingston had they had one hit in it and alot of help with a reversed call.Pitcher for Livingston was great and we should have been entertained with extra innings but the umpires made sure they got home on time. One has to ask why there were only two umpires at the game.No doubt Nederland should be playing better and not leaving it in the umpires hands.Just the way it goes when you are struggling. One thing is for sure. There were some awful 'Fishy" calls in the lake Livingston area last night!
  7. Biggest case of" home cooking" I have ever witnessed in alot of years of watching baseball.Livingston played great they did not need the extra help.If those two guys called everyone of Livingstons games the Lions would be undefeated.9 against 11 is not a fair game! Have never witnessed two umpires have a conversation with the home coach about a call and not let the visiting coach in on the conversation.Especially when the call goes the home teams way reversing the original call.Just so happens it was in the same inning Livingston scored it's 2 runs. With no one on base the home plate umpire over rules the first base umpires call that livingstons first baseman's foot came off the bag.Lead off batter for Nederland in the inning.Sure would like to know what was said in the conversation!
  8. Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to a guy that does a great pitching job.Foshee made Ned look very bad.The game was lost the same way LCM lost to NED.Defensive plays that should have been made came back to haunt them.Should have been a 0-0 game in the seventh.Pitching and Defense wins Championships!
  9. Game should have been played on tuesday. If not at LCM,should have played at Nederland. Baseball Gods don't like it when you can play and you choose not to!
  10. Bear Country sounds like a amusement park you could slide from 12 in the state to 4 in your own district real fast. For what it is worth,I think Griff is a awsome coach who is always looking out for the best interest of his team. But when LCM's best interest messes around the Dogs,I am going to BARK!Good luck the rest of the season and in the playoffs.
  11. Weather was predicted to be worse on wed. than tues. Which would move the game to the weekend. It would have made it very tough on Nederland.Would have allowed the bears to get the bad taste of Lion out of their system with a win on Thur. Then face the Dogs on Friday.Game should have been played at Nederland yesterday. Why do the wright thing today and not yesterday?IMO I think he was banking on getting thru tues. there would be nowhere to play on wed. according to the forcaste.Funny how the weather worked out today! You know what they say about Karma!
  12. When a coach is allowed to make the call on the field conditions,I am sure his judgement could be clouded to benefit his team. The district has pour rules IMO.If you can't play on your field you should have to play on theirs.A coach could turn on the water all night to make his field unplayable.Bull Durham!
  13. Practice was taking place at 4;45 today.LCM has pulled off a retreat and regroup strategy. In the process turned the tough schedule over to NED.NEDERLAND will play Vidor,LCM and PNG in a six day period. Then face Livingston three days later. Can't believe LCM is getting away with not playing tonight when everyone else in the district did play.I hope bad karma lands on LCM for these underhanded actions.Unlike LCM ,I am sure the Dogs will play the schedule that is handed to them.Show them how to fight like a BULLDOG!
  14. If LCM's field was to wet to play on.Why was it ok for LCM varsity to practice on it today.People had visual of them doing so from a middle school track meet at LCM.I guess it is fair to send your sub varsity teams to the opposing teams field and then hold a practice on a field that is to wet to play on.NED varsity can't practice because sub-varsity playing on NED's dry field while LCM's varsity gains a extra day of practice on a field that is to wet to play a real game on.Is this fair play!
  15. Just heard game is cancelled and moved to wed.Nederland has a dry field and is ready to play but Griff does not want to give up home field advantage. My question is if PNG and Central are switching fields and moving up game times why are NED and LCM not doing the same thing.LCM would get the last home game of the season.Playing wed. is a joke! If  you have looked at the weather.Could it be that LCM is trying to back the game up into the holiday weekend in hopes that NED will save Brown for PNG on tues.Should not be able to cancel a game if the other team has a dry field.
  16. Jordan Wood scored 3 times and drove in 3 more.Kanton Richard and Trent Fontenot had great at bats also
  17. If one of these teams was state tournament caliber,I could see them not playing. Both of these teams are young and need to play as much as possible, in big games, to prepare for next year.
  18. Nice junior class Nederland has but the senior class is much deeper. On the defensive side LB Jordan Wood, LB Korbin Stampley, DE Koby Couron, DT Brock Pryor and CB Zach Taylor will draw attention. That's just the defensive side!
  19. If Ned and BH played each other in a six game series I feel like it would end up 3-3.I base this on what I saw last year.I feel like BH has the edge on offense this year but I give the edge to NED pitching staff this year.Brown beat BH ace last year and Duplant was not well for that series.Lasell pitched well against BH and is back this year with several others that are just as good as him.I had the pleasure of coaching a group of NED kids in two tournaments at Lamar this Year.Anyone that watched them will know that NED defense will be good this year.5-1-1 in two tournaments.NED offense will be a big question as will everyone else with the BBCOR game Good luck to everyone and lets PLAY BALL!
  20. Congrats Jacob from your old Big Dogs coach.Glad to see your back in East Texas.Time is flying by so fast.Good luck at Blinn
  21. Boys track for NHS won district in 97 and 98.They have finished second at least four times since then.Nederland won the 2010 meet by 40 points. A very good program. Not a shot in the dark! Now Central winning district in baseball would surely be a shot in the dark.By the way 40 points is a good ole fashioned one in track and field.
  22. Picking Ned. third is crazy!Duplant is the superteam MVP as a sophmore and Brown is hitting low to mid 90's and has signed with Lamar.Nederland is loaded with other quality pitchers and three solid catchers.Ned also has a group of juniors that have not tasted losing very much  in select or high school ball.Anything can happen but I do not see Ned finishing third.P.S. It will be interesting to see the high school players adjust to the BBCOR game.
  23. Kanton is a great stick with a high on base percentage. If he catches, someone can run for him every time he reaches base.He and Brett are not the tallest targets in the world at first base. That being said they are First and Second team all-district performers.Abundance of talent in Nederland.Hope the coaches can put the pieces of the puzzle together to win another district championship.Go Dogs!
  24. Going to be a great problem for the Dogs coaching staff to solve. Deciding between Richard,Feltman and Stampley behind the plate.
