He did not quit last year.He did not play at all.Up till now,he told several people including the coaches that he was coming out this year.I was just answering a question Admin had for me on another thread.Sorry if I touched a nerve.

Sanderson and Stampley are touching close to 90.If they can stay away from arm problems,they will be tough.Raines throwing about 85 with one of the nastiest hooks I have ever seen.They are the best three arms I have seen so for but there are a lot of really good pitchers on the staff.Admin. I am hearing that Weisbrod may not play.Guess we will find out after basketball season.Go Dogs! 

I also told you I think block scheduling is the problem not the coaches letting them be a part of period.The player I was talking about beat Hadnot and Cunningham in one on one games after practice as a freshman.Talent was not a problem being treated as a football player was.

Abe,i think English has so many people around him telling him how great he is because they benefit from the way he runs things.I do not think he knows how much he hurt some great kids that had some talent.You can talk about wins all you want but in the end it is about how kids feel about you and how you effected their lives.Believe me I have found out this the hard way!

Abe,if you noticed in a earlier thread I said he was one of the best coaches in the state of Texas.My point is the team could possibly be better if football guys were not called "football guys" and treated fairly.I see a us against them approach.English has done a great job turning programs around.I think if he moved to a 5-A or college the sky is the limit for him.Specialist are the norm. there.I also said football coach and basketball coach do not get along.Let me ask you,if you were a athletic director and football coach at a school and you found out the basketball coach was trying to get kids that would help the football program play basketball only how much would you help that guy? The football coach also sees his kids treated unfairly! I believe this is what is happening in Nederland. 

Now time for 5 on 5 response.Tell me how my son was suppose to get better by playing in the summer when he was not invited by them to do so.Lets say he plays the same position that the person that funds the summer tournaments son does.How often you you think he will get called to play to take some of money parents kids playing time.We will never know how it would have turned out but you can bet my son has zero respect for the basketball coach 

Well bucket since you doubt what I say is true and insult me,here is some information that may shed some light.I know you do not know the kids we are talking about or you would not make the comments you have.After the fourth game with Ozen that year the coach from Ozen told me that my son made the best decisions with the ball and could not understand why he did not get more playing time.Now tell me how I am suppose to handle this?I was recently informed by the best player on the team this years parent that he had a conversation with the freshman coach from that season.He told him that the only thing he regreted about his time in Nederland is that when he looked at the end of his bench at the start of the game three of his best players were down there because the head coach told him to put them there.And by the way the reason Vidors soccer team became so good during his era is the kids that used to go from football to basketball started going to soccer instead of basketball after the way they were treated by basketball.

.Abe in Nederland as it currently stands your son will have to choose football or basketball.It is not fair that other schools make it work but Nederland can't.Do not know if block scheduling is the problem or not.It is sad that the kids could play for two of the best coaches in the state of Texas at one school.As it is,the football players can be role players at the underclassman level but year around basketball players are starters because the coach feels like the extra practice time they get will make them better than the football players in the long run.Hard for football players to accept this when they know their ability is better but coach does not follow the "best should play" rule for underclassmen.Much like soccer and baseball you can't play both.You can but you will not be treated fairly.No one says life is going to be fair.The kids learn this the hard way and move on.The same thing happened in Vidor.Do not know which coach is at fault for not letting the kids in the basketball class but it is not fair to the kids.I do know that there is only one common denominator in the Vidor and Nederland problems 

Just call it like I see it!Have a kid still in the program.Do not want to get specific and possibly hurt my kid.Both sides need to give a little for the kids.When son gets out of program in few years I will give my opinion how both could change.

Both sides have faults.Problem is not one sided 

Make one of the refs shot clock operator and go back to two ref system.Less stars foul out of games and more shots taken.Just a thought.

More shots will be taken with a shot clock and I think that is what most fans want to see.As for money issue how did they find money to pay for three refs?

IMO the problem is Basketball coach and Football coach do not get along.The multi-sport kids suffer for it.*Can't We Just All Get Along"

When the state allows clock operator pay for football do not see how they could keep it from happening if basketball wanted it.Would get me to a few more games.

20-4a will be fun to watch with all the good pitching match ups.If Nederland pitches and plays defense like I know they are capable of,I think our hitters will put more pressure on opposing teams than they can put on us.Will be fun to see how it all plays out!"Let's Play Ball" 

Stoner,funny how you figure you can attack my son.He is ten times the man you outside haters will ever be!Maybe the player you are talking about has more baseball talent than my son,but being a man is much more important than being a great player!

Dogs 1987 has been taking some tough shots at me on my personal message board.Not sure how to work that part of the board so I will try to do so on here.Darell Smth and his family are some of the best people you will ever meet.Darell I am praying for you.Sorry if I left Sam off of my post.He is a great kid and team mate.Tough for him to find playing time with such a tough group.Sorry if my comments about Bret on a earlier post upset you.He will leave his mark on the program before he graduates.The kid is a stud.Just do not know as a soph. if he will be able to crack the varsity line-up.I hope they both prove me wrong!It makes me feel sick that I upset you and your family.That was never my intent.Hope you can forgive me.Hope to see you feeling well at the ballpark cheering on the Dogs.

Admin. asked how Nederland is looking this year.I tried to list several players I know that are returning at each position I have seen them play.I did not make a batting line up or just list one person at a position.I was trying to answer Admins. Question.I also stated we could have some surprises because we have a lot of young talent.It was a list of team members that I know of.(sorry if I left anyone out)I did state my opinion on the pitching staff but it is just a opinion on what I have seen in the past.I am going to take the high ground here and say Go Dogs!l 

catcher-Stampley,Feltman                                                                                                                                                          pitcher-Sanderson,Raines,Stampley,Nevala,White,Weisbrod are top guns IMO First Base- Sampere.Weisbrod.Clark and Stampley Second Base- Shaw.Feltman.Younger Nevala,Spell Short Stop-Raines,White,Ramoine.Simon Third Base- Wood,Stampley,Weisbrod,White Out-Field-Barrow,Nevala,Sanderson,Wood,Babino,Stampley.Some others may step in and surprise me.From what I see Nederland looks pretty good!                                                           

Looks like outsiders trying to get this thread locked.Please talk about kids in Nederlands program as Grad.asked.Sure you could start a HJ thread.I will not go there.Sorry if I have crossed lines that hurt feelings.Felt like I needed to defend people just as you did.This is the last time I will comment on this subject.Good luck this season.

I am wishing Barrow,Raines,Wood,Stampley,Sanderson,Nevala,Sampere,Shaw,Spell,Self,Creuder,Smith,Simon good luck on upcoming senior season.(sorry if I left anyone out)With a strong supporting cast of Feltman,White,Weisbrod,Clark,Babino,Nevala and others I feel good about you achieving team goals.I think Nederland will put the best line-up on the field in 20-4a.If these guys play with intensity and passion I think they will surprise a lot of doubters!Go Dogs and Good Luck!

.Tjcfan08, when people attack the city of Nederland and the coaching staff I have a hard time letting it go.Especially when you use terms like Haters and vague comments like he needs to rise above?Rise above the haters or rise above his own decision making?How many chances does a player get before the UIL steps in and bans him from high school baseball?Nederland is willing to give him another chance to play ball at HJ.Hope he takes advantage of it and rises above us haters. Because everyone knows we are the source of his problems.Give me a break!
