Just some numbers to look at from the past 3 seasons. I was impressed.
2016-2018: 
Newton (#1 3A-II) : (36-1) (13-0) 1756-347 / 2(3) district titles, 1 state title, 9 playoff wins ('16/'17 only)
Jasper (#1 4A-II) : (26-6) (10-0) 1243-584 / 2(3) district titles, 3 playoff wins ('16/'17 only)
Woodville (#9 3A-I) : (28-4) (19-0) 1249-483 / 2(3) district titles, 2 playoff wins ('16/'17 only)
Total Combined: (W-L)(District W-L) PF-PA / district championships, state championship, playoff wins
**(90-11) (42-0) 4248-1414 / 6(on track for 9) combined district titles, 1 state title (Newton), 14 combined playoff wins**

i wish someone would pass on Newton, there DB are feeling neglected. you know when you pass the ball, while the ball is in the air it is anybodies ball and i like our chances. Gilmer is a pretty good passing team and we won . i don't think there are  any 3 A schools that are better passing teams than Gilmer. JMO

I'll put it this way. Both those schools would beat the crap out of Carthage. Even if we had the team from last year. The same would happen to Newton.

It's been a long time since Jasper was #1 in any poll. Congrats to those young men and to the Jasper coaching staff. There's a long way to go, but it's been a great season so far!

Newton got lucky in the Kirbyville game. Refs screwed us. Lol.. 

Actually, this post is pretty silly. 2015 wos beat PNG 28-14, 2016 they beat Nederland 42-0. So little ole wos beat two of those teams in your list fairly easily, one they dominated.
To sit here and say that Newton wouldn’t stand a chance against those teams you listed just because of what classification they are in is crazy!!

Newton don't want them problems! They should just stay in their lane. This thread is ridiculous.

i hope so, Newton with all of its athletes  hasn't faced a passing team that will do all the picks and rub patterns like Gilmer. I think we should win handily but teams i have never seen tends to make me nervous.

Strength ..offense/defense loaded with athletes great coaching staff.
Weakness .. having to wait a week before playing again.

I have heard about how bad WOS is, how young they are and how they are blah,blah. The one thing I have not heard is that maybe just maybe their losses were to good quality teams and they aren’t nearly as bad as all the nay sayers think. You can talk about all the past teams  you want to but they are gone, never to set foot on the field again. You have had some exceptional teams, they are gone. It is time to get behind the team you have now. They are not as bad as you think.

The same one who created offenses that have played in the last 4 4A, Division II State Championship Games (and won 2 of them).

My main point is yes, WOS May be a little down at the moment but the season is still early. What some are forgetting is just how dang good Newton is this year. I would be willing to bet that is the last time Newton scores 21 points all year. This Newton team is on par with 2016 WOS....just a once in a generation type team....an L hurts but it wasn’t like WOS was beat by an inferior team. Hell, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Newton could run rough shot through 4A also! As I always do, I’ll be rooting for the Eagles to bring some more hardware back to SETX (ok, extreme North SETX) lol.

They had a couple dropped screen passes but never a deep threat. Newton was clearly the better team. Didn’t hear any talk of how young WOS was before the game. Now that’s all kicker is saying. Take your L this week and prepare for the next from Crosby. 

Congrats to Newton. both teams played there butts off newton made more plays when it matter .that will best defense newton sees all year, and that will be the best rb wos will face all year I still expect to see both teams in dallas

Lumberton may win but will not be a blow out.  I thought the same as most and Kirbyville would gain nothing by playing Newton but I think I was wrong.  They were blown out and stomped last night but still had spurts of confidence.  I was not totally disappointed in what I saw last night.  I think you'll see a different team this week and get better each week.

To say WO-S might (or even WILL) lose a game is not being a coward. Guaranteeing a win in every game is nuts. There are always a few fans who don't give the right amount of respect for opponents. They are the ones who will 1) make crazy and excessive excuses when they lose and 2) talk down about the winning team when they should be congratulating them. Did you watch the Vidor scrimmage? This Mustang team is YOUNG and not as far along as previous teams at this point heading into week #1. We have only three returning starters on offense and three on defense. Come down to earth and realize we have some work to do in preparing this team right now. A little appreciation for the development process is called for.
