Last time we had 2 exchange students and we must have kicked extra points and field goals without any pressure because it showed  non-competitive kicking in practice makes good soccer players look scared and unreliable. Remember, it wasn't that long ago when this happened.!

Kickers are overrated , ( What ) If Newton had a field goal kicker, I kinda think they would have kicked a field goal at the end of the Woodville game for the win. If Field goal kickers are so overrated, why do all colleges,pro's and most high schools have one/ maybe they want to win close games. My reasoning is you need them to win against good teams JMO

Whatever, I had rather my Eagles and Bulldogs start out slow and get the right people in the right places so they may make a long run in the play-offs. Newton has been fortunate enough to have had 3 superior coaches. ( !)  Lindney Thompson, started by making a bottom of the pack football teams into winners and state champion. (2) Curtis Barbay ,enough said (3) W T Jojnston ,great coach and great man. All were great father figures for the kids.

Prayers for a good clean game with great officiating ,injury free, and all spectators to treat everyone as they would want to be treated. I pray each player leaves it all on the football field with the understanding that win or lose,if you do your best you are a winner in my book. JMO

DeKalb is no push-over, they gave Daingerfield a game. Offensively,DeKalb blocking scheme is pretty good. I will take Newton in a close game. DeKalb's highlight films show they are pretty good but Newton should be better in a shoot-out.

Hemphill should win by 20 but if they play sloppy New Waverly could upset them. Bulldogs are fairly descent team.

In 2014 Newton started out 1-3 or 1-4 and lost to Waskom in the state finals.

The key to this game will be defense, I will take our neighbors to the west by 7. Jasper has a better defense.
