Don't know anything about Crosby this year,Someone give me some insight please.

I don't know anything about Crosby either, but I do know something about WOS. Crosby better come with their big boy britches on, cause the're gonna get challenged.  I kinda assume that WOS is a young team, and young teams sometimes make mistakes, fumble a lot and the like. The mustangs are a very talented group. The mistakes will get fewer. I recall that the 2017 Newton team made mistakes out tha wazoo. They were just good enough to overcome. WOS will too, in my view. I will be listening, since Newton has a bye next week.

    Good  luck Mustangs

  2. That WOS defense is the real deal. Nobody has held Newton down that effectively. As so often happens, mistakes and turnovers was the key here. But that is a part of the game. WOS defended the pass very well, I was surprised how well they rushed the Qb that really effected Newtons passing. Pressure always seems to do that. Congratulations Newton you played a hellava game.

Anybody out there have any injury reports. Commentators said Nate was limping, but don't how serious. Man, I hope they are not serious. It don't get no easier next week.

WOS is a Great team.  Every year. I give them the respect they deserve. Newton is a great team as well. I can't confidently say who I think is going to win this game. But I'm a Newton fan and am pulling for them.

But the scoreboard is really all that matters

    That!!!

I root for WOS every game and hope they make it to state every year. I have respect for that program and what they have accomplished. That being said, I don't think the Newton Eagles will be losing to WOS this year. This is two fast, athletic, and well coached teams going at it. Newton proved so much last week and I will confidently say that they have not dropped off too much as we all thought they would. I think this game will be decided within a touchdown or two. Though, I said that last week and was completely wrong. Win or lose, this will benefit the Eagles. Good luck to both teams and may the best team win.

I just posted on another thread about what you suggested about a drop off. After watching the Video of Newton and Silsbee, I am very impressed with the ability of Nate Williams to run this offense. I truly do believe he will compensate for any drop off. I believe he can be as effective if not more than what Josh Foster was. He throws better on the run, and can hurt you with his running.  He's not the athlete Josh is, but he can dang sure run this offense.  I saw a very good passing game against good competition.

I first want to make a comment on how wrong I was about this game.  I thought we would upset Newton, but I had no idea they had athletes like that coming back.  Yeah I knew Newton would be Newton but not that type of Newton.  They will win state again.  Secondly, we will be a playoff team and make a deep run in the playoffs again.

It's a long to Tipperary my friend. But, I hope you're right.

How was the playcalling for Newton ? I know they didnt have  Neece in the box.

I believe Tabor Westbrook. I thought I heard Jon say that on one occasion. On that note I have never witnessed a team that is as good at two point conversions as Newton is this year. Their success rate is incredible.

Probably during District play they will move some people up and let them get much needed varsity experience.  I really don't see much of a threat during district play. CC may have a good team but they won't be able to play with Newton. And if they move a lot of kids up to play during second half of the game it will give the bread and butter some rest. No disrespect, but I just see District play as prep for the playoffs. It's a foregone conclusion, in my mind.

I agree with you on that.

Newton has a very good player on both sides of the ball out for all of pre-district. With that said, I see Newton being a little down, especially due to depth. I think Silsbee has a better chance at winning this game now. Though, I still have to go with Newton until proven otherwise. It just hurts not having a good player while playing good teams like Silsbee, WOS and Gilmer.

    What's,that player's number.

I think thats a safe prediction.  But I don't think Silsbee will hang 27 on Newton's defense.  But this will be a test for Newton offensively and defensively.  This will tell us how good they really are.  I just happen to believe that they may even be better this year than last year.  As hard as that is to believe.  Understand,  I think Silsbee is better than last year as well.and WOS and Gilmer as well.

If Newton can get their passing game clicking, I agree they will be better than last year. My only worry is depth. I hope they can bring up some freshmen to help them in blowout games, if they have any.

Barlow looked good  as usual running  the ball for TCU. Scored his 1st TD . I think we will see him in the backfield as a Freshman often .

Watched this game.and boy am I impressed with the team speed of TCU. Patterson has some burners. I didn't get to see Darwins TD, the time ran out on my recording. Blasted thing. I did get to see a replay of it. I'm sure proud of this young man. He has a great future ahead of him. Also I noticed that TCU has some doggone good Freshmen. That cornerback that played for an injured guy looked stout.
